Coming of Christ
Acts 1:1-11 - The former treatise have I made, O
Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, Until the day in which
he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments
unto the apostles whom he had chosen: To whom also he shewed himself alive after
his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and
speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God: And, being assembled
together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost
not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him,
saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he
said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the
seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost
part of the earth. And when he had spoken these things, while they
beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while
they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by
them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye
gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven,
shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Matthew 24:14
Many preach that when the "gospel" is preached throughout the world, Christ will return. Yet, what exactly is the "gospel" that needs to be preached?
Is it preaching a "gospel" about the Christian religion? Is it preaching the "gospel of the Good News of Jesus Christ, or the "gospel of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John?" What "gospel" did Jesus preach? What exactly was the "gospel" Jesus said would be preached "and then the end shall come?" Was it not the Gospel of the Kingdom of Heaven and of God?
And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. Like 4:43
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. John 20:21
Matthew 4:17,23 - From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. ...And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
What "gospel" did Jesus send His followers to preach? What "gospel" did Jesus want believers to preach?
And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 10:7 ...and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. Luke 10:9
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. Acts 28:30-31
The power of God follows the preaching of the Kingdom of God, not religion.
Worldwide there are more than 30,000 registered Christian denominations, yet only ONE Kingdom of God.
If the Kingdom of God is not being preached, how can we expect the "inner man" to change from darkness to Light? It is not accomplished through political mandates, it is accomplished through the liberty that comes from God.
