Can You Live The Sermon On The Mount?
Can You Live The Sermon On The Mount? (Matthew 5-7) - Excerpts From "Made Alive" by Charles S. Price
"When Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount, He was not a demagogue presenting specified standards of life to which they should struggle to attain....No man in history has ever been able to live the Life of the Sermon on the Mount without the indwelling Life of the Man who preached it!...We do our best to do good. We battle every instinctive and natural force within us as we attempt to measure up to the Sermon on the Mount. But the end of that road is disillusionment and disappointment. We find we cannot do it! It is outside the boundaries of human capabilities; it is beyond the possibility of self attainment. We have not found out that what we call life in the Spirit is really the Spirit Life in us.
Let the Words of Jesus in John 14:17 ring in your hearts: 'Even the Spirit of Truth whom the world cannot receive because it can't see Him, or know Him. But you know Him for he dwells with you and shall be in you.' And then later, 'In that day you shall know that I am in My Father and you in Me, and I in you.' And then again in John 16:12-13, 'I have yet many things to tell you, but you would not be able to comprehend them now. Howbeit when the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth;'
Though we were to live ten million lives, we could never be like Jesus, by attempting to imitate Him.
He does not ask us to, but He stands at the door and knocks and wants us to let Him enter so that He might live out His Life in us and through us. His work was made perfect and complete. You cannot add to perfection. As He did nothing without the Father, we are to do nothing without Him. Never mind your imperfections or shortcomings. They were nailed to the Cross with Him."
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, The people He has chosen as His own inheritance. Psalm 33:12
Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34
For the nation and kingdom which will not serve you shall perish, And those nations shall be utterly ruined. Isaiah 60:12
"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
"I charge you therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." 2 Timothy 4:1-4
Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel 12:2
"Who has ears to hear, let him hear. And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why do you speak to them in parables? He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given. For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which says, By hearing you shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear. For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which you hear, and have not heard them." Jesus, Matthew 13:9-17, Isaiah 6:9-10
Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world has blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 2 Corinthians 4:1-4
And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says the LORD. Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in heart he lays his wait. Shall I not visit them for these things? says the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? Jeremiah 9:5-9
By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Hebrews 11:7 Would Noah otherwise have built an ark on a mountain with no water in sight, after being warned about things not yet seen? What would reason have us do?
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 1:17-31
"Because of our lack of understanding, we have always viewed the spiritual world as that which is to come." Charles S. Price Two Worlds
All the while, the physical world, which is temporary, was created by the spiritual world, which is eternal.
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18
Luke 17:20-21: And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, "The kingdom of God comes not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you."
Ephesians 3:4-5: Whereby, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ. Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:14-16: But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God; for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
Wisdom, or knowing the deep things of God - The wisdom the Holy Spirit imparts and reveals what is outside the boundaries of human understanding. Spiritual things are understood in the spirit, for they are spiritually discerned. The world tries to comprehend them by the wisdom of man, when they are only revealed by the Holy Spirit, unto those in which He dwells. They are not of education or reason, they are of the mind of Christ, in us. Although the knowledge of God comes by way of our mind, it is the Spirit that quickens, or brings to life God's revelation. We cannot know God by our intellect, we can only know God through our spirit.
Matthew 11:25-27: At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in your sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper as I intended." Isaiah 55:8-11
And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into
his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 1 Corinthians 15:45-47
"Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. My soul melts for heaviness: strengthen me Lord according to your word." 2 Peter 1:20
But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 1 Corinthians 13:12
You might want to read the Scriptures above again. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
"So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper as I intended." Isaiah 55:11
...blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Luke 11:28
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:6-10
"He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not.
He came unto His own and His received Him not. But as may as received Him, to then gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name; which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:10-14"My little children, these things write I unto you, that you sin not.
And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2:1-2"Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound."
2 Timothy 2:9"The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times."
Psalm 12:6""The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it."
Psalm 68:11"For this cause also we thank God without ceasing, because, when you received the word of God which you heard of us, you received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually works also in you that believe."
1 Thessalonians 2:13"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper as I intended."
Isaiah 55:8-11He answered and said unto them,
Well has Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things you do. And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition. For Moses said, Honor your father and your mother; and, anyone who curses his father or mother, let him die the death: But you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me; he shall be free. And you suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things you do. And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand: There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man. If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. Mark 7:6-16But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Ghost teaches; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:9-16
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presses into it. Luke 16:16
It is one thing to see the kingdom (John 3:3), it is another to enter into the kingdom. (John 3:5)
The Kingdom of God represents being "joint-heirs with Christ"
"Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him?" James 2:5
The fall of man (Genesis 2:15-3:24) was an act of treason against God's Word and the consequences was spiritual and physical death. And as man could not redeem himself, for "we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." (Isaiah 64:6). But God has provided the "Way" through the blood of Christ as the atonement to restore "the Truth and the Life." (John 14:7)
Religions are a vain attempt to restore man's personal relationship to God.
"Religion is the toil of mankind in his search for the Kingdom." Myles Munroe, Rediscovering the Kingdom
Houses of worship, or "entering God's house" does not satisfy the requirement of God dwelling in you. Houses of worship are gatherings for fellowship in Christ. The Kingdom of God and "church" are distinct, and each are to be kept in perspective.
Not every one that says unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 7:21
"And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? for you are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people." 2 Corinthians 6:16
What Name did Jesus "manifest?"
And now, O Father, glorify me with Your own self with the glory which I had with You before the world was. I have manifested your name unto the men which you gave me out of the world: Yours they were, and You gave them to me; and they have kept Your word. John 17:5-6
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother. Matthew 12:50
Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their
Father. Who has ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew
13:43
Bearing fruit in the
Kingdom of God is the result of our ABIDING! A branch does not struggle to bear fruit. The LIFE within the vine is what bears the fruit. The branch surrenders to the LIFE within. (Romans 12:1-2) And Who is the LIFE? The branch has to abide in Him as He is in us! Did not our Lord say. 'For without Me, YE CAN DO NOTHING!' ...Listen to these words of Christ: 'If ye abide in Me and My Words abide in you...' What is the condition? Abiding in Him and allowing the Living Word to operate in you. "Herein is My Father glorified that ye bear much fruit." ...Abiding in Him produces the fruit. It is His fruit not ours. More is accomplished in a minute when God does the work, then a lifetime of our struggling.Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and returns not thither, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Isaiah 55:6-11
How much is a worn, battered, and faded $100 bill worth?
But God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Matthew 10:29-31
Golden Grain Magazine, December 1946, True Values, A Sermon by Dr. Charles S. Price:
To the average person of the world, religion forms a part of the life in order that such a one may be a "decent citizen." Church-going may be endured and it is frequently a bore. But for the Christ, the Son of the Living God, to occupy FIRST PLACE would be an intrusion Many have other things to do Their values are placed in many other directions!
Some say: "Men
wrote the Scriptures" or "Everyone interprets Scriptures differently."
The Holy Spirit inspired
the Scriptures, and the
Holy Spirit
reveals the "deep things of God." (1
Corinthians 2:10-16)
"...the world by wisdom knew not God" 1 Corinthians 1:21
"It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." Jesus - John 6:63
Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him. But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knows no man, but the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11
Why did God say: "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." Isaiah 29:14 & 1 Corinthians 1:19
Why is the preaching of the cross and the work of the Holy Spirit hid from the "wise?" They do not come by education, they are revealed by the Holy Spirit. "...Jesus answered and said, "I thank You, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because You have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in Your sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him." Matthew 11:25-27
Why did Jesus tell His disciples at Passover, "I have yet many things to say unto you, but you cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth."
Why couldn't they "bear" to hear those things before Christ rose from the dead? "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth"
Who was the "Comforter" Jesus talked about when He said: And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever." and "It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you."
What was the "promise" Jesus told His disciples to wait for? "And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry you in the city of Jerusalem, until you be endued with power from on high." Luke 24:49
Why was one of the last things Jesus said to His followers: "...wait for the promise of the Father..." John 14-16 and Acts 1-2.
Why did Peter deny Jesus three times before Jesus was crucified, and then just 50 days later preach boldly Christ crucified unto thousands on the Day of Pentecost?
Why did Jesus say concerning the Comforter: "...whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him, but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you."
Golden Grain Magazine, January 1957, The Revelation and the Mystery, A Sermon by Dr. Charles S. Price:
THERE are certain things which have been reserved until the Last Days, when "in the dispensation of the fullness of times" the Lord would lift the last veil, and we should behold the glory of His plan before its complete consummation. "And He said unto them, UNTO YOU IT IS GIVEN TO KNOW THE MYSTERY OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD; but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables." (Mark 4:11) There are two classes of people mentioned in this statement by the Lord: "unto you" and "unto them." Click here to read the complete sermon.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26
Any "image" resembles its source. The characteristics of the image should closely reflect that of its source. The image should leave no doubt as to what it represents. He that has ears to hear, let him hear.
Man (Adam and Eve), were God's greatest creation. For the creation of the earth and all the animals were "good" in His sight. However, the creation of man was "very good" in His sight. God was pleased with the "image" He created of Himself. And man was charged with caring for the earth he lived on with dominion over "all the earth." Only one commandment did he have to abide by and he was given, as in His Creator's image, free will and the power of choice. Man's spirit was in communication with that of His Creator's. However, deception was used to break the one commandment man was to obey. Ever since, deception has been used to keep man from His Maker. Consider those today who are deceiving many, and coercing their fellow man into doing without God, outlawing His Commandments, outlawing prayer, and creating rights which kill the unborn, support unnatural lifestyles which have proven to have dire consequences. In whose image would that be?
John 10:7-16 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep, and flees: and the wolf catches them, and scatters the sheep. The hireling flees, because he is an hireling, and cares not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knows me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
2 Timothy 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. But you have fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue in the things which you have learned and have been assured of, knowing of whom you have learned them; And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
Golden Grain Magazine, April 1947, In His Image, A Sermon by Dr. Charles S. Price:
At an early age, He (Jesus) declared with Divine authority that it was necessary for Him to be about HIS FATHER'S BUSINESS. He was never content in mingling with the thoughts and opiniations of men of the earth-form. His was the SINGLE EYE, knowing no choice other than that to which He had steadfastly set His mark, that He might have this testimony, THAT IN ALL THINGS HE PLEASED THE FATHER!
How different, by contrast, do we see the choice made by our fore-parents in the Garden. Our Lord Jesus Christ chose only GOD'S CHOICE; Adam chose his own choice. While the Christ was the EXPRESS IMAGE of God Himself in flesh - Adam was created in the image and likeness. From the single eye, and union and communion with the Father, he deviated from the path and pattern, choosing the tree of the KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL. It was not all evil; in fact it was good as well! But it was DUAL and not SINGLE! Originally all was GOOD! After the Fall and separation from the Divine choice, there was GOOD AND EVIL - a duality; a mixture. (Click here for the complete sermon.)
What was the "light" on the first day? On the first day, God said "Let there be light."? The sun, moon, and stars were created on the fourth day, so what was the light of the first day? Do you know?
Who was the light? "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lights every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not." John 1:1-10

Golden Grain Magazine, December 1946, That Great Day, A Sermon by Dr. Charles S. Price:
AS WE view God's purpose and plan ordained by Him from before the foundation of the world, we are aware that we are now in the REVELATION of this plan. Such revelation is coming to His children in these the days of the Consummation! We remember He has told us of that GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY! We are always conscious of the persistency and long-patience of the all wise God and Father and it is in contrast that we view the impatience, haste and scurrying, especially today, of man in his activity. As we look to Him and His working we are "fully persuaded that He had promised, He was able also to perform!" Roman 4:21 "Yea, before the day was I am He; and there is none that can deliver out of My hand: I WILL WORK, AND WHO SHALL LET (HINDER) IT?" Isaiah 43:13 "Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waits for the precious fruit of the earth, and has long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be you also patient; establish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draws nigh." James 5:7, 8 (Click here for the complete sermon.)
