To forgive means to
release from accountability and guilt. This is the covenant that I
will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into
their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and
iniquities will I remember no more. ...Let us draw near with a true heart in
full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience,
and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews 10:16-17,22 But this shall be the
covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the
LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and
will be their God, and they shall be my people. And they shall teach no more
every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for
they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith
the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no
more. Jeremiah 31:33-34 For by one offering he has
perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a
witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I
will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into
their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and
iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no
more offering for sin. Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into
the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he has
consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; And having an
high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full
assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our
bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith
without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrews 10:14-23
Eternal Life
Salvation and the role of the Holy Spirit
"And this is eternal
life, that they would
know You, the only true God,
and Whom You sent Jesus Messiah."
John 17:3
(Power New Testament)
"But your iniquities have
separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will
not hear."
Isaiah 59:2
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23To forgive someone is to release them completely from ever being held accountable for any wrongdoing or any offense they have done action against you or to hurt you, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually, in such a way that they may be free of any guilt or retribution. Of course, it is necessary for the offending person to humbly admit their wrongdoing AND repent, turn away from any further wrongdoing against the one willing to completely forgive you and cover you with their forgiveness in such a way that the wrongdoing was as though it never occurred.

The Blood of Christ, instead of your blood.
"Behold, the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world." John 1:29
All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
He did for us what we could never do. Nothing we can do can earn eternity. It is what He has done for us. He died for our sins, for He was without sin.

The Holy Spirit
"Salvation is not just something God gives you that is going to bless you after you die; it is having the presence of the Lord now." John G. Lake
That presence is the Holy Spirit, acquired by the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, which comes only by know Jesus.
Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed
not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye
believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear
my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal
life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my
hand. John 10:25-28 O foolish
Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before
whose eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth, crucified among you? This
only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by
the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now
made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be
yet in vain. He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit, and works miracles
among you, does he do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of
faith? Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the
children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the
heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying,
In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed
with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the
curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continues not in all
things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is
justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just
shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that does them
shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being
made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangs on
a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus
Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Galatians 3:1-14
And all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and
has given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ,
reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has
committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for
Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be
reconciled to God.
Condemnation and Redemption
John 11:17-26 - Then when Jesus came, he found that he (Lazarus) had lain in the grave four days already. Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off: And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother. Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know, that even now, whatsoever you will ask of God, God will give it you. Jesus said to her, Your brother shall rise again. Martha said unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?
1 Corinthians 15:44-50 - It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Romans 8:1-14 - There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
"For by grace you are saved through faith;
not of yourselves: it is the
gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians
2:8-9
He did for us what we could never do, and nothing we can do, can earn eternity. It is what He has done for us. He died for our sins, for He was without sin, "the Lamb of God who takes away our sin." We are only to believe on Him. What could the the thief, nailed on a cross next to Christ have done besides believe? It matters not what you can do, or what you are capable of doing, or what you are able to accomplish and attain. Your strength and power matter not in your salvation. It is NOT what we do, but who we are in Christ, and Christ in us. It is what He has already done.
And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death. And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar, And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save yourself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Don't you fear God, seeing you are in the same condemnation? And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man has done nothing amiss. And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shall you be with me in paradise. Luke 23:32-43
"Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,You who are trying to be justified by law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. Galatians 5:4-6 NIV

And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this? Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it."

Born Again? How is this possible?
"There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou might be justified when thou speak, and be clear when thou judge. Behold, I was shaped in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desire truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shall make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall show forth thy praise. For thou desire not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delights not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shall thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar. Psalms 51
For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Isaiah 57:15
Substitute your name and sin in these verses.
Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a
woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst, They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what do you say? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are your accusers? has no man condemned you? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:1-11

Suggested Prayer of Faith

Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, for you alone are without sin, and my sins have separated me from the Father and therefore I do not deserve eternal life.
But I believe because of the Father’s heavenly love and mercy, He sent you to die for me and you rose from the grave to purchase a place in the Kingdom of Heaven for me and restore my relationship with God the Father, that I may know Him.
Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. Help me to turn from my sins as only you can. Please forgive my sins and save me. Come into my life and take control of my life. Transform me into your likeness by helping me with my unbelief and to place my unwavering trust in you.
I accept you into my life and receive your gift of eternal life in you and you in me. So be it. Amen.
