Upcoming Judicial Nominations

Chuck Schumer, the senior senator from New York, was overheard yesterday discussing "how we are going to go to war over (judicial nominations.)" The Senator revealed his partisan strategy when he explained, "It's not about an individual judge... It's about how it affects the overall makeup of the court." If you recall it was Sen. Schumer, following the elections of 2000, who actually held committee hearings to rationalize the new Democratic strategy allowing the personal beliefs of conservative judicial nominees to be open for criticism.

The Senator sits on the important Senate Judiciary Committee that will ultimately question President Bush's Supreme Court nominee. Senator Schumer's words expose his deeply held bias against ANY Bush nominee, and highlights the political posturing he has already planned to execute. The appointment of a Supreme Court Justice, and the role of the nation's highest court amongst our three branches of government, should not be reduced to a chance for Senator Schumer to increase his partisan attacks. The bottom line is a FAIR debate and an up or down vote on the President's nominee. This should be a simple process and a judge should be seated no later than October 3. To guarantee this process, and to distance himself from his shameful comments, Senator Schumer should disqualify himself from the proceedings. Tony Perkins - Family Research Council

"[The Senate's] role in advice and consent consists of determining intellect, experience, and judicial temperament. It is not up to [them] to select Justices based upon their ideology. That is the president's Constitutional role. [Their] job is to make sure that the person the president nominates is qualified to do the job, not to determine if the nominee will do the job [their] way." Duane Patterson

CIA Expert Warns of 'Ominous Sign' Michael Scheuer, a 22-year veteran analyst.

"For the holy war [jihad] there's no difference between men and women [martyrs]. According to the Koran, male martyrs are welcomed to Paradise by 72 beautiful virgins. ...[A] woman martyr will be the chief of the 72 virgins, the fairest of the fair." --London's Telegraph quoting a 20-year-old would-be Palestinian suicide bomber, now residing in an Israeli prison **"That is to say, the highest aspiration for a fundamentalist Palestinian girl is murder, suicide and prostitution. Has there ever been a more depraved culture?" James Taranto

Why is there air?

Bill Cosby's album is funny and entertaining, yet his question proves useful. Without air our physical being would not survive. We would die without it. The same holds true for the "breath of God," for our spiritual being cannot survive without it.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

Why is there God's breath?

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22

When you plant a seed in the ground, water is essential for growth. When the seed of faith is planted in man, the "living water" is essential for growth.

But he that received seed into the good ground is he that hears the word, and understands it; which also bears fruit, and brings forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. Matthew 13:23

He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) John 7:38-39

The Holy Spirit which inspired the Word of God (2 Peter 1:21), is needed to reveal the Word of God. (2 Corinthians 2:10-16)

Jesus is the Word of God "which became flesh and dwelt among us." (John 1:1,14)

It is the Spirit which reveals the Word of God, which is Christ, from Genesis to Revelation, the Alpha and Omega (Revelation 22:13). As the spirit reveals Christ in us (Colossians 1:26-27), He must increase while self decreases (John 3:30).

The "living water" (Holy Spirit) transforms the "seed" by the "renewing of your mind" (Romans 12:1-2).

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Golden Grain Magazine, December 1946, Revelation or Recitation,  A Sermon by Dr. Charles S. Price:

God's children everywhere are rejoicing in the unfolding revelation of our Lord. What we receive from God is revelation; what we receive from man is recitation. Now the recitation may be good and true, but it can never take the place of the unfolding of the Divine purposes and will before the individual heart. Jesus would have taught Simon Peter the lesson of His identity and the purpose of His coming, but He left that for the unfolding of the truth under the light of revelation. "Blessed art thou Simon Bar-jona for flesh and blood has not revealed it unto thee but My Father which is in heaven." Matt. 16:17 God is a Spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Revelation does not come in the realm of flesh and blood. It does not approach us down the avenues of our reason The Revelation of St. John on the Isle of Patmos would never have been seen had he not been able to predicate that glorious story with the words, "I was IN THE SPIRIT, on the Lord's Day." Perhaps there are people who profess that the spirit lives in them and yet they have not learned how "to live the Spirit."  (Click here for the complete sermon.)
