U.S. Christian Activists Forewarned by Canadian Clergyman American Christians had better start defending their right to religious expression before that liberty is outlawed, a Christian civil rights advocate from Canada warns. ...Christians are being humiliated, intimidated, and stopped from expressing their beliefs in public, Rev. Tristan Emmanuel recently told a gathering concerned about judicial activism and the erosion of free speech in Massachusetts....Rev. Emmanuel, a Presbyterian minister, gave the keynote speech at a March 29 Article 8/MassResistance dinner to an audience comprised of mostly pro-life and pro-family Christian lay leaders. Brian Camenker, director of the organization and founder of the Parents Rights Coalition, highlighted the timeliness of Emmanuel's message. "Over the last several weeks, Cardinal Sean O'Malley, the Archbishop of Boston, has withstood a wave of hateful, venomous attacks by the media, the liberal establishment, and even the business community that is truly unbelievable," he said prior to the meeting. ...Emmanuel stressed the danger involved when a legislative body defers to a judicial one, as the Massachusetts Legislature's avoidance of the same-sex marriage issue eventually led to such unions being legalized by the state's Supreme Judicial Court....Too many Christians "buy into the idea that if it's not affecting me and my family personally, it's too vague and abstract to bother about," Rev. Emmanuel said. "But if you are a Christian, you cannot and you must not keep your convictions to yourself. We fall all over ourselves to issue edicts that we're about love. We need to show our love for people by saying homosexuality is wrong."

Violations of the Constitution by the courts

  • 1947: Violated the Constitution by banning freedom of expression. Enacting "a wall of separation between church and state." (Everson v. Board of Education) This decision, instead of protecting religion from government interference, violated the Constitution by banning freedom of expression.

  • 1962: Prohibited non-denominational prayer from public schools. (Engle v. Vitale)

  • 1963: Banned Bible teaching in public schools. (Abington Township v. Schempp)

  • 1968: Allow teaching the theory of evolution. (Epperson v. Arkansas)

  • 1973: Abortion: The right to kill the unborn.

  • 1980: Ordered public schools to remove the Ten Commandments from student view. (Stove v. Graham)

  • 1981: Freedom of press and speech is guaranteed to students unless the topic is religious.

  • 1985: Disallowed religious benedictions and invocations from school activities. (Wallace v. Aguillard)

  • 1992: Banning prayer at public school graduations. (Lee v. Weisman)

  • 1992: Accused Colorado voters, of animosity towards homosexuals.

  • 2000: Prohibited pre-game student-led prayers.

  • 2000: Overturned the laws of 27 states banning partial-birth abortions.

  • 2002: The Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional because of the words "under God." Feedback and response from a reader of the Federalist No. 03-10 Digest notes: 'If reciting the pledge is truly a 'religious act' in violation of the establishment clause, then so is the recitation of the Constitution itself, the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address, the national motto or the singing of the national anthem.'

  • 2003: Rejected the 1986 state of Texas's ban on same-sex sodomy. Thomas Jefferson warned, "In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."  "[T]he opinion which gives to the judges the right to decide what laws are constitutional and what not, not only for themselves, in their, own sphere of action, but for the Legislature and Executive also in their spheres, would make the Judiciary a despotic branch." " - "It is not honorable to take mere legal advantage, when it happens to be contrary to justice." But what to do when judges refuse to be bound by constitutions? "Impeach the Sodomy 6" - Joseph Farah - WorlNetDaily.com

  • 2003: Violated the First Amendment by ruling against Chief Justice Moore of Alabama in displaying a Ten Commandments monument in the state's judicial building. "One federal judge has placed the Ten Commandments in a closet. That came after the United States Supreme Court recently welcomed everything else out of the closet." -- Tony Perkins, new president of the Family Research Council

  • 2003: Supreme Court Upholds Campaign Finance Reform Laws - The Supremes on Monday (9/8/03) heard expedited arguments over the so-called "campaign-finance reform" -- the McCain-Feingold bill re-tooled as the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002. Remarks and queries from the high-court members suggested that the decision may be yet another 5-4 split, with Sandra Day O'Connor again determining the outcome. The real issue, of course, is the Constitution's First Amendment guarantees of political free speech -- most notably, whether we take seriously the Constitution's bar that "Congress shall make no [such] law." Of course, we already know how the federal bench regards the construction of our Constitution. The Federalist Brief 03-37

  • 2004: Clinton appointed Judge Phyllis Hamilton, overruling partial-birth abortion law Washington D.C. ruling that Planned Parenthood's 900 or so facilities and abortionists -- which kill over 600,000 unborn children every year, half of all abortions in America -- can resume partial-birth abortions. Judge Phyllis Hamilton is the same judge who allowed a San Francisco-area school district to force school children into "becoming Muslims" for two weeks as part of their world history unit on Islam.

  • 2004: Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Strikes Down Idaho's Parental Consent Law. The court that struck "Under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance has now decided that Idaho's law requiring parental consent before a minor obtains an abortion is unconstitutional. The court said that the law did not have an adequate exception, which would allow some minor girls to bypass the consent requirement. What that really means is that the court wants the law to have a gaping loophole that would devoid it of its intent - to prevent young teenage girls from having abortions without their parent's knowledge. Forty-four states have passed parental consent laws (though only 24 are in effect, thanks to various legal challenges), and recent polls have found that more than 70 percent of Americans support such measures. It is common sense that teen girls shouldn't be pressured into having an abortion by Planned Parenthood saleswomen, leaving their parents to find out only after the fact, if at all.

Atlanta new child sex tourist destination…
A new federal law passed in 2003 ensures that American sex tourists landing on foreign soil and hiring prostitutes under the age of 18 can get 30 years in prison. But in Georgia, punishment for pimping or soliciting sex with a girl under 18 is only five to 20 years, according to Deborah Espy, the Deputy District Attorney of Fulton County. http://www.rawstory.com “People are stunned that Atlanta's the No. 1 sex center in the country,” said Cathey Steinberg, executive director of the Juvenile Justice Fund, which funds treatment for abused girls and prevention. The FBI has identified 14 U.S. cities as centers for the sexual exploitation of children. In addition to Atlanta, they are Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, San Diego, San Francisco, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington, D.C. In all, an estimated 200,000 to 300,000 underage girls are prostituted in the United States, according to a University of Pennsylvania study.

Homeland Security Official caught in sting…
A deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was charged with using a computer to seduce a child after authorities said he struck up sexual conversations with an undercover detective posing as a 14-year-old girl. http://hosted.ap.org Brian J. Doyle, 55, the fourth-ranking official in the department's public affairs office, was expected to be placed on administrative leave Wednesday. Doyle found the teenager's profile online and began having sexually explicit conversations with her on the Internet on March 14, the sheriff's office said in a statement. He sent her pornographic movie clips, as well as non-sexual photos of himself, officials said. One of the photos, released by the sheriff's office, shows Doyle in what appears to be DHS headquarters. During online conversations, Doyle revealed his name, who he worked for and offered his office and government-issued cell phone numbers, the Polk County, FL sheriff's office said.

Using the alias Jim Saron, Robinson allegedly responded to six undercover agents' inquiries about trading digital child pornography files, according to the search warrant affidavit by Special Agent Paul R. Danley. The Homeland Security arrest follows last week’s raid by federal agents on a NASA office in Washington during a child pornography probe. An agency executive is accused of viewing and trading illicit images and videos from his home and work computers, according to a court affidavit obtained by an investigative Web site. http://www.cbsnews.com

In other news...
About 872,000 American children faced abuse or neglect in 2004. About 1,500 of those children died, according to a Department of Health & Human Services report released Tuesday. http://hosted.ap.org The rate of abuse and neglect represents a slight improvement from the previous year. However, the death rate remained essentially the same.

A Delaware elementary school teacher accused of having sex with a 13-year-old student has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of rape, authorities said. http://hosted.ap.org She allegedly had sex with the boy 28 times during the last week of March, and on at least one occasion allowed the boy's 12-year-old friend to watch, according to New Castle County Police.

MySpace.com (see vol4_iss11), the fast-growing community website, hugely popular with American teens, has removed 200,000 "objectionable" profiles from its site as it steps up efforts to calm fears about the safety of the network for young users. http://www.msnbc.msn.com

Sexually charged music, magazines, TV and movies push youngsters into intercourse at an earlier age, perhaps by acting as kind of virtual peer that tells them everyone else is doing it, a study said on Monday. http://www.msnbc.msn.com “This is the first time we’ve shown that the more kids are exposed to sex in media the earlier they have sex,” said Jane Brown of the University of North Carolina, chief author of the report. Gee, parents have known that for decades.

The Homosexual Movement And Pedophilia - The homosexual activist movement and organized pedophiles are linked together by a common goal: To gain access to children for seduction into homosexuality. There is an ever-increasing effort among homosexual organizations to target public school children, to abolish age of consent laws, and to publish “studies” that purportedly show that adult/child sex is not harmful. The following reports provide clear and convincing proof that homosexual pedophiles (called pederasts) want children. Homosexuals should not be given special federal protections under “hate crime” laws; they should not be free to promote homosexuality in public schools; nor should they be allowed to marry or adopt children. Many homosexuals are sexual predators who prey on children. .....MORE

To Ponder

Are Facts Obsolete? By Thomas Sowell - What is more frightening than any particular policy or ideology is the widespread habit of disregarding facts. ...People who have made up their minds and don't want to be confused by the facts are a danger to the whole society. Since the votes of such people count just as much as the votes of people who know what they are talking about, politicians have every incentive to pass laws and create policies that pander to ignorant notions, if those notions are widespread. ...Facts that go against preconceived notions are likely to be ignored, even by many scholars. For example, slavery is an issue that is widely discussed as if it were something peculiar to Africans enslaved by Europeans, instead of something suffered and inflicted around the world by people of every race, color, and religion.

Immigration Bill Grants Illegals In-state Tuition (NewsMax.com)- After the Senate Judiciary Committee approved and distributed a proposal for granting legal status to many undocumented aliens, conservatives were alarmed to discover that the 471-page bill makes illegal aliens eligible for in-state tuition costs. Under the proposal, illegals could pay the low tuition charged students who attend state universities in their home state, while legal residents of the U.S. would still be required to pay the much higher costs charged students who attend schools outside their state, the Washington Times reports. "This means that while American citizens from Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, Massachusetts have to pay out-of-state tuition rates if they send their kids to the University of Virginia or the University of Alabama, people who have illegally immigrated into the country do not," said Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. "How much sense does that make, to have people here illegally and they have more benefits than those who are here legally?" Nine states allow illegal aliens to pay the in-state tuition rates, but the provision is under challenge in those states. If the new bill passes "the American taxpayers will be forced to pay for illegal aliens to replace their own children in the limited seats in college," said William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration. "Professional polls in North Carolina show over 81 percent opposition to in-state tuition for illegal aliens. "It is bad enough the Senate is proposing guest worker a

mnesty. Now they want us to pay college tuition for illegal aliens!" Sen. Patrick J. Leahy of Vermont, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee, supports the proposal, saying "it will free eligible students from the constant fear of deportation." But Gheen declared: "It is a national tragedy the U.S. Senate is even considering giving these finite resources to foreign nationals that broke our laws." Gheen said information on how Americans can tell lawmakers of their opposition to the proposal can be found at the group's Web site, http://www.alipac.us

In the last few days I have had the opportunity to speak with various leaders in the House about the amnesty proposals that were being added into the Senate version of Immigration Reform. "Our borders have overflowed with illegal immigrants placing tremendous burdens on our criminal justice system, schools and social programs. Our federal wallet is stretched to the limit by illegal aliens getting welfare, food stamps, medical care and other benefits often without paying any taxes. Safeguards like welfare and free medical care are in place to boost Americans in need of short-term assistance. These programs were not meant to entice freeloaders and scam artists from around the world. Even worse, Americans have seen heinous crimes committed by individuals who are here illegally." —Senator Harry Reid introducing the Immigration Stabilization Act of 1993, which proposed a dramatic reduction in legal immigration, revocation of citizenship for children born in the U.S. to illegal aliens, and it even called for wiretaps for alien smuggling operations. Of course that was before he was against all those things...Patriot Post Digest 06-14

Illegal alien protesters' Mexican flag waving offends fifth-generation Hispanic American - Al Garza is the national executive director of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps, a movement aimed at urging U.S. officials to act to secure America's borders and curb illegal immigration. Garza notes that he was deeply offended, particularly as a combat veteran and an American of Hispanic descent, by demonstrations that took place recently, in which illegal aliens and their supporters displayed Mexican flags on U.S. soil. "The protesters obviously felt they had the right to not only be illegal in our area and our country," he says, "but also to protest with the Mexican flag, pulling ours down and putting theirs up. I thought that was a pretty awful display, to say the least." But Garza believes the Mexican flag-waving display has already backfired. Even as the event happened, he observes, the Minutemen were receiving an increasing number of calls from outraged citizens, asking where they could sign up to join the Minuteman Project. "I think they finally realize who the true Americans are," Garza says. "We're not the vigilantes that a lot of people were portraying us to be. We're compassionate; we just believe in this cause, chiefly because we know for a fact that our borders are not secure. They're porous. They're dangerous." The Minutemen volunteers were flying the U.S. flag along the U.S. borders yesterday, as they urged other Americans to join them in observing "Take an American Flag to Work Day." Immigration 'Compromise' Has Massive Fraud Potential Members of the U.S. Senate worked late into the night on Thursday in an effort to agree on immigration reform legislation. • American Immigration Control 11 million illegal aliens live in America. Each year the American tax burden for them is $68 billion. Also each year bilingual education costs are $28 billion, plus $7 billion a year in Welfare, plus  $133 billion in American job losses. Nearly 1 million legal immigrants and an unknown number of illegal immigrants come to America each year, when studies show America currently can only absorb 300,000 a year. 400,000 foreigners now collect Social Security and Medicare, 25% of Federal prisoners are immigrants.

Combating the enormous costs of ALL bilingual programs. ...Mauro Muijca didn't even speak English growing up in Chile but when the architect and businessman immigrated to the U.S., he realized to be successful, he had to be proficient in English. Now as chairman of U.S. English, he believes this country needs to be unified through a common language. But Muijca says politicians here aren't willing to take such a stand. Muijca says America need better politicians -- people with some courage.  He says Congress has been trying to pass English as the official language for about nineteen years. Muijca asks how Congress can pass a bill "under the table" granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrant but they cannot do that for English as the official language?  Muijca says instead of encouraging immigrants to learn English, the government is doing just the opposite, by providing them with anything they need, in any language they want.
