"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made." Groucho Marx

And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says the LORD. Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in heart he lays his wait. Shall I not visit them for these things? says the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? Jeremiah 9:5-9

Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall, when the wise are banished from the public councils, because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded, because they flatter the people, in order to betray them. Joseph Story

Taking Action

Grassfire.org Alliance "10 For Life" petition challenge for the unborn. Thousands of Pro-Life citizens who are signing Grassfire's "10 For Life" petition, and accepting the challenge to rally ten friends and family members to sign our national petition for the unborn?

Here is a petition demanding that the media "Tell the Truth!" about the liberal leadership now in control of Congress to demand the media be held accountable for their words and actions. This is a national petition initiative giving grassroots citizens a real voice as we call on the media to report the truth about liberal leadership. A cursory glance at the media's adulatory coverage of Nancy Pelosi compared to the mean-spirited coverage networks offered to Newt Gingrich back in 1994 demonstrates that liberal bias has never been more clear.

Bush Eyes Pardon for Border Patrolmen Columnist Debra Saunders, on the Harsh Treatment of Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean, Who Have Been Tried, Convicted and Imprisoned for Wounding a Drug-Smuggling Illegal Alien: "Americans should not put men in frustrating and dangerous law-enforcement positions, then lock them up and throw away the key if those men do one wrong thing, especially of the sort that angry, scared men sometimes do. It is not as if Ramos and Compean were crooked agents running criminal enterprises and betraying their fellow agents. If they were, they'd probably be facing a shorter sentence." Please call or write the President to support him in pardoning Ramos and Compean. Call 202-456-1111 and/or write comments@whitehouse.gov.

Prayer & Action Alert: If Passed, New State Legislature Would Abandon Teaching about Memorial Day and Veterans Day in New Jersey Public Schools The new law, currently being reviewed by the governor, would also ban teaching on Thanksgiving and other traditional holidays. Fred Jackson/AH (Jan 17th, 2007) - If you expect New Jersey's public schools' curricula to include teaching on important historic landmark days in this country's history, such as; Veteran's Day and Memorial Day, then the time is now to make your voice heard, and to pray. New state legislature—already passed by lawmakers, and waiting for a signature, or veto from Governor Corzine—would drop any requirement to teach about these and other traditional holidays, even Thanksgiving. Understandably, Veterans are upset with the law. WWII Veteran, Sam Stia, remarked, "We're just giving our flag away, and our patriotism away." Several veterans groups are appealing to Governor Corzine to veto the legislation. One VFW representative commented that, "[NJ school children] are not going to know the sacrifices that were made so they can enjoy the protections that they have." According to an aid of Governor Corzine, there is still time to voice your opinion on the law, as he is keeping a tally, which will figure into his decision. If you would like to contact the Governor, to make your voice heard, call: (609) 292-6000. Or CLICK HERE. Source: One News Now

Worth repeating from PatriotPost.us 07-03 Chronicle - “Not only do American high schools fail to educate students about U.S. history and civics, but by the time many students finish college they know even less. That’s the conclusion of ‘the largest statistically valid survey ever conducted to determine what colleges and universities are teaching their students about America’s history and institutions.’ That study, conducted for the Intercollegiate Studies Institute by the University of Connecticut’s Department of Public Policy, surveyed 14,094 college freshmen and seniors at 50 U.S. colleges and universities from Massachusetts to California. It found a stunning ignorance. Seniors scored an average of 53.2 on the 60-question civics test. That’s a big, fat F. More than half of college seniors could not identify the correct century in which the Jamestown colony was founded or name the battle that ended the American Revolution. Truly frightening, more than half also did not know that the Bill of Rights forbids the federal government from establishing a national religion. These are college seniors. Among the institutions whose students were surveyed: Dartmouth, Yale, Harvard, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and the University of Michigan. It should go without saying that in a republic, civic education is a fundamental necessity. If even our elite college graduates have no idea what the First Amendment does, the country is in trouble.” —New Hampshire Union Leader

PBS Profiles Homeschool Movement Bob Allen - In what one homeschool-advocacy group called "one of the biggest homeschool stories to hit mainstream media," PBS' "Religion & Ethics Newsweekly" last week carried an episode profiling the "exodus" movement. "The bulk of parents pull their kids out of public school for reasons having very much to do with religion," said correspondent Lucky Severson. "Some are leading an organized effort to persuade churches, including Southern Baptists and the Presbyterian Church in America, to have their members pull their kids out of public schools and put them in private or home schools."

Pornography -- The Real Perversion Dinesh D'Souza - On a recent trip to Istanbul I encountered a group of Muslim students who insisted that American culture was morally perverse. They called it "pornographic." And they charged that this culture is now being imposed on the rest of the world.

Enemy At Home - Jonathan Garthwaite - Bestselling author Dinesh D'Souza sat down with Townhall.com to discuss his recently released book, The Enemy At Home - The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11

What they know that isn't so Dinesh D'Souza - As I debate the topics covered in my new book The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11 I find myself arguing with a whole bunch of people on the left who "know" things that aren't true.

ACLU: Profits, Promotion and Perversion - Nedd Kareiva Friday, 12 January 2007 - It never ceases to amaze me what causes the ACLU will take up to advance an agenda and take a few bucks (putting it mildly) in the process. In this case, ACLU pockets are $170,000 deeper (your tax dollars at work) thanks to a settlement from a lawsuit against a Georgia school district to force a Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) at one of its high schools. The ACLU's case profile and history can be read here. However, unlike the above Georgia school, a district in Florida is not willing to settle with the ACLU against a suit filed to force a GSA in rural Okeechobee as pointed out in this piece but is instead taking them on, so much to the point that the ACLU now wants an injunction to allow the club to meet while the suit continues. Let's tell it like it is. The ACLU wants to spread homosexuality across the entire public school system to every student. If you don't believe that, you need to read this link and this one (ironically, in Georgia), for starters as well as this one. Hate Crimes Legislation: ("Special Rights" which discriminate against Judeo-Christians?)

Hate-Crimes Legislation Reappears (CitizenLink) The real question is: Will the president veto the bill? A new hate-crimes bill introduced earlier this month in Congress may eventually pass both Houses, pro-family experts say. The president's help may be needed to keep it from becoming law. The House Judiciary Committee has begun consideration of H.R.254, sponsored by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas. The legislation is similar to measures passed by the House in 2005 and by the Senate in 2004.

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 17 /Christian Newswire/ -- Repent America (RA) has joined in the fight against the newly proposed hate crimes bill now before the U.S. House of Representatives, and is calling Christians to pray for this emergency situation and to voice opposition to their elected officials. "The proposed federal hate crimes bill is a dangerous threat to our civil liberties," stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. "Having been charged under Pennsylvania's hate crimes law for declaring the truth about homosexuality, I can assure you that if this bill is passed and signed into law, it will be used to put Christians behind bars," ...Marcavage continued. "H.R. 254 is nothing more than an attempt to provide federal prosecutors with the ammunition to police our thoughts, which will ultimately lead to the death of the First Amendment," Marcavage said. "This bill is unnecessary, unconstitutional, and simply un- American," he continued. "Christians must pray and respond to this emergency situation by urging their representatives to vote against this dangerous bill," Marcavage concluded. ...Most Recent Related Documents: Marcavage, et. al. v. Exodus Int'l says 'hate crimes' bill a threat to religious speech The largest Christian referral network dealing with homosexual issues is voicing opposition to a federal "hate crimes" bill introduced in the House. The legislation, says Exodus International, threatens religious freedom.

Democrats revealing their secular socialistic agenda

Do they prefer a cradle-to-grave-nanny-state of government controls, regulations, and programs? Do they exhibit a Biblical worldview of virtue, where personal responsibility and commitment comes by way of liberty, freedom and justice as derived from God or from government? Are they looking for fiscal responsibility? Do Democrats prefer capitalism and free enterprise or socialism and regulations? (See pre-Election 2006 op-eds.)

DEMS TO RAISE TAXES Apparently the Democrats don't think gasoline prices are high enough because they plan to increase the income tax on oil companies and this will, of course, be passed on to consumers. The tax rate for all big American corporations is 35% of profit, but the Democrats have decided that American oil companies should pay more. Somehow in their mindset the extra tax paid by American oil companies will help fight global warming. Exxon and other oil companies are called "widow's stock" because they are owned primarily by retirement funds such as the teacher's unions etc. The increased tax will be paid by lower dividends to the retired, and higher prices at the gas pump. Way to go Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Click here for some background data. Religious Freedom Coalition
