Henry Melchior Muhlenberg was one of the founders of the Lutheran Church in America. His son John Peter, was a pastor, promoted to Major-General in the Continental Army and then elected to Congress. Another son, Frederick, was a pastor who became the first Speaker of the House. Both sons served in the first U.S. Congress and helped pass the First Amendment. Henry Muhlenberg pastored the German congregations near Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War. In The Notebook of a Colonial Clergyman, Henry Muhlenberg wrote: "I heard a fine example today, namely that His Excellency George Washington rode around among his army yesterday and admonished each and every one to fear God, to put away wickedness that has set in and become so general, and to practice Christian virtues. From all appearances General Washington does not belong to the so-called world of society, for he respects God's Word, believes in the atonement through Christ, and bears himself in humility and gentleness. Therefore, the Lord God has also singularly, yea, marvelously preserved him from harm in the midst of countless perils, ambuscades, fatigues, etc., and has hitherto graciously held him in his hand as a chosen vessel."

Support English as America's Official Language: Click to Tell Congress to Support H.R. 997! Rep. Steve King (R-IA) introduced the "English Language Unity Act" (H.R. 997) in the U.S. House of Representatives. This bill would designate English as the country's official language and require immigrants to learn English before becoming naturalized citizens -- finally bringing back the original idea of an American "melting pot" where immigrants from all over can be assimilated into American culture. The purpose of the bill is simple: To declare English as the official language of the United States, to establish a uniform English language rule for naturalization, and to avoid misconstructions of the English language texts of the laws of the United States, pursuant to Congress' powers to provide for the general welfare of the United States and to establish a uniform rule of naturalization under article I, section 8, of the Constitution."

Massachusetts Has �State Interest� In Promoting Homosexuality To Kids - February 15, 2007 � Lawyers representing the Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts claim that the state has a compelling state interest to teach children about homosexuality.The lawyers are defending the school against a lawsuit filed by David Parker, a parent who was arrested in April 2005 for protesting pro-homosexual teachings to his son. The pro-homosexual lawyers argued that the state must fight discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and that parents have no right to control what ideas the school presents to elementary school children. A lawyer stated: �Once I have elected to send my child to public school, my fundamental right does not allow me to direct what my child is exposed to in the public school.� �What Estabrook Elementary School did to Josh Parker as a kindergarten child being taught that homosexual marriage is right and proper, is a blatant violation of the rights of parents to direct the destiny of their children. This school district violated their rights by not informing the parents of this homosexual marriage presentation. David Parker has filed a federal lawsuit over the violation of his parental rights,� said TVC Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon.
