Family Research Council Washington Update (3/7/07) Under the new Congress we are anticipating a slew of pro-homosexual bills as payback for the help that the same-sex marriage lobby gave the Democrats in the election last fall. Because most people, including many in Congress, realize how radical that lobby is, homosexual groups are well-versed in masking their agenda. Creating special protections for homosexuals becomes "hate crimes." Forcing businesses to elevate homosexuality to civil rights status becomes the "Employment Non-Discrimination Act." Mainstreaming the homosexual lifestyle at the expense of morale in the Armed Forces becomes "The Military Readiness Enhancement Act." While we are fighting a federal wish list that Rosie O'Donnell would love, our friends in the states have been battling this same agenda for years. A state legislator in Maine recently introduced a bill to strip the clergy of the right to sign marriage licenses, thereby divorcing state-sanctioned marriage from religious ceremonies. Lawmakers in Maine have also introduced LD375, "an act to amend the Family Medical Leave Laws," which would greatly expand the existing domestic partnership benefits. As a result, Democrats have run wild, accepting bribes, destroying classified information, lying under oath, molesting interns, driving under the influence, obstructing justice and engaging in sex with underage girls, among other things.

Support Second Amendment Protection Act In recent years, gun grabbers have attempted to undermine this philosophic and often very practical rationale for Americans� gun rights. They have introduced the concept of �sporting use� or �sporting purpose� as a substitute for the right to self-defense rationale for the right to bear arms. Under this substitution, the right to keep and bear arms somehow depends on whether or not there is �a sporting purpose for a firearm,� rather than on whether or not an individual�s right to self-defense in and of itself is sufficient reason for a right to keep and bear arms. ...To combat directly this erroneous �sporting purpose� legislative approach, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas recently introduced a measure that would repeal provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and the federal criminal code distinguishing firearms used or suitable for sporting purposes from firearms generally. The Paul bill would do much to eliminate the �sporting purpose� rationale from the equation and restore the right to self-defense rationale to its rightful place. Titled the Second Amendment Protection Act of 2007, the bill, H.R. 1096, has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee and in addition to the House Committee on Ways and Means.

PatriotPost.us 07-10 Digest - Yet, regardless of what others have said, Coulter�s remark was off base simply because of the forum where it was presented. CPAC is to conservatives what Renaissance Weekend is to liberals�a gathering where big ideas can be discussed and developed into policy initiatives. Perhaps Michelle Malkin, who, with The Patriot�s own Mark Alexander, was an award winner at this year�s CPAC, said it best: �Her �f**got� joke was not just a distraction from all the good that was highlighted and represented at the conference. It was the equivalent of a rhetorical fragging�an intentionally tossed verbal grenade that exploded in her own fellow ideological soldiers� tent.� This fact�that Coulter has single-handedly overshadowed the tremendous accomplishments of the CPAC meeting�is what disturbs us most. Ms. Coulter�s remarks were indeed a slap in the face of the PC crowd, but a slap that would have been more appropriate for the Gridiron Dinner or the Friars Club. Keep it real, Ann.
