Upfront - (Warnings) President Harry S Truman stated in his address to the Attorney General's Conference, February 1950:  "The fundamental basis of this nation's laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and St. Matthew, from Isaiah and St. Paul. I don't think we emphasize that enough these days. If we don't have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except for the State."

Massachusetts Governor: Marriage Vote to Bring ‘Political Circus’ (Citizen Link)

Massachusetts Attorney General Says Marriage Amendment May Be Illegal (Citizen Link)

Three's Company Bad for Marriage (FRC-ActionUpdate) In the liberal clutches of Govs. Deval Patrick (D-Mass.), Jon Corzine (D-N.J.), and Eliot Spitzer (D-N.Y.), the Northeast is starting to resemble the Bermuda Triangle--where family values mysteriously vanish despite the growing grassroots support for them. Spitzer, who is on an anti-life and anti-marriage rampage in New York, has company in Massachusetts where Patrick is insisting on pushing his personal political agenda on voters. Patrick admitted to lobbying lawmakers to deny voters a voice on marriage by trying, unsuccessfully, to kill the proposed marriage protection amendment in yesterday's session. The vote has been postponed until June 14. Although homosexual activists are doing their best to sell legislators on the virtues of same-sex "marriage" with a string of ice cream socials and dinner parties, a majority of state officials continue to insist that the state's voters should settle the issue of gay "marriage." Patrick disagrees. In a statement, he relayed his frustration with what he calls a policy "distraction." "Rather than turn Massachusetts into a political circus for a national debate over something which is largely settled here, my own view is that we ought to resolve this...so that it stays off the ballot." But who's "we"? If, by resolving it, he means shutting voters out of the democratic process, he certainly isn't implying "we, the people" but we the courts and politicians. Patrick understands all too well that when the question of legalizing same-sex "marriage" is put before voters, the answer is an emphatic "NO." Video: Theological Education Institute (TEI) Rev. John C. Rankin - Video of Mars Hill Forum #123: (Also linked on the TEI website.) This forum was on April 11 at Patrick Henry College, and my guest was Rev. Barry Lynn, Esq., executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State in Washington, D.C. This is my third forum with Barry. In the forum I argued that "the wall of separation between church and state" is a powerful metaphor, but powerfully wrong in how it has been used, especially since 1947. Moreover, it is divisive in nature. I suggested a better metaphor would be "a level playing field for all religious and political ideas." Whereas Barry was not willing to concede these points, he also did not challenge my historical argument. And in fact, as evident in the nature and substance of the forum, and in our concluding statements, the reality of such a level paying field is deeply attractive to Barry as well. You will be edified if you can make the time to watch and listen -- to both of us equally.

Sanctuary Movement: Personal Compassion VS National Security Harry R. Jackson, Jr.: (Townhall.com) Essentially, this movement is calling for an amnesty program for those who have broken many laws within our country. Their justification for their actions is their controversial interpretation of the Scriptures and irrational references to the civil disobedience of the Civil Rights Movement.
