Taking America for Granted
(Click links for complete columns)
Upfront - Taking America for Granted By Thomas Sowell (Townhall.com) There is nothing automatic about the way of life achieved in this country. It is very unusual among the nations of the world today and rarer than four-leaf clovers in the long view of history. It didn't just happen. People made it happen -- and they and those who came after them paid a price in blood and treasure to create and preserve this nation that we now take for granted. More important, this country's survival is not automatic. What we do will determine that. Too many Americans today are not only unconcerned about what it will take to preserve this country but are busy dismantling the things that make it America.

Condemning divisiveness by being divisive Joseph Farah (RenewAmerica.us) You've got to hand it to Barack Obama. He used his presidential campaign speech to a church to call for separation of church and state and then divided himself from the "religious right" by labeling the movement "divisive." Not every rhetorician could get away with that kind of sleight of mouth . . .
Lieberman: Soros' Views 'Anti-American' Ronald Kessler (NewsMax.com) Taking aim at billionaire George Soros, Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman calls Soros' views on America "so negative, so critical, and so often anti-American." ..."This is the danger somebody who has real potential like Obama gets co-opted by people whose hostile view of America and how to protect it and advance it is so different from mine and the views of most Americans," Lieberman says. Women Under Islam (Part One of Four) (with links to all four) Adrian Morgan (FamilySecurityMatters.org) In this flabbergasting report, FSM Contributing Editor Adrian Morgan details the stunning horrors of life for women under Islam. This is no surprise, as Islamic laws provide religious extremists with the blueprint they need to subject women to the most heinous barbarity. You have to read this to believe it. ...Genital and other mutilation, beatings, isolation without sunlight, child and forced marriages, torture, murder, no education, no rights and, sadly, much more is the way of life for many women living under Islam. FSM Contributing Editor Adrian Morgan asks if there is any point in negotiating with those who harbor such belief systems.
DOCTORS OF DEATH - (RFC.net) According to liberals, terrorism is caused by poverty and lack of education. Perhaps that is why the 9-11 Jihad terrorists came from oil rich nations such as Saudi Arabia. Of the eight detained in Britain for terrorist attacks this past week, six were medical doctors.

ABOUT THOSE VISAS (RFC.net) The United States has NO SYSTEM IN PLACE to determine if anyone entering the nation on a visa actually ever leaves. While UPS can track millions of packages a day and know the exact time they are loaded and unloaded from any given truck, our government has no idea if anyone who entered the country legally ever left. NOTE: The terror doctors in Britain entered using the same "H1" type visas that the USA hands out to get cheaply paid doctors to work for HMOs in the USA. Hmmm!

Liberal Baptists hold demonstration for church-state separation (OneNewsNow.com) Most of the time when one hears about religious groups converging on Washington, DC, it involves conservative Christians gathering to make their voices heard. But that's not always the case. A coalition of liberal Baptist groups rallied on the U.S. Capitol grounds this week in support of their agenda. ...
Representative Chet Edwards (D-Texas) told the gathering that some conservative politicians are "doing great harm to religion" by "tearing down the wall of separation between church and state." The nine-term congressman denounced congressional initiatives he claims would reinstate "government-sanctioned" school prayer, "legalize religious discrimination in job hiring," and "provide direct tax funding of houses of worship." House passes In God We Trust amendment By Jackie Kucinich (TheHill.com) The words In God We Trust may no longer be hidden on newly minted dollar coins, thanks to an amendment to the House Financial Services appropriations bill. Rep. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) said the amendment, which passed yesterday 295-127, aims to correct what he believed was an unintentional error made by Congress when it passed legislation to create the dollar coin in 2005. At no point did anyone explain that [the words] would not be on the face of the coin, Wicker said, leading him to try and correct the issue in this years legislation. The current coin has the words etched on the rim of the coin, obscuring them from view, Wicker said.
