Upfront - “Little progress can be made by merely attempting to repress what is evil; our great hope lies in developing what is good.” Calvin Coolidge

Cal Thomas - “While requiring politicians to express belief in Jesus and the Bible, many evangelical voters ignore Christ’s statements about the source of genuine power. They also conveniently forget what Christ said about how they would be regarded and treated by a world that had rejected Him (and still does as the best-selling atheistic works of Christopher Hitchens and Richard Dawkins attest). It was Jesus... who warned, ‘If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first’ (John 15:18) and ‘If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also’ (John 15:20). Those warnings are not the creed of contemporary evangelicals who think persecution is a negative newspaper editorial or a disparaging remark by a skeptic on a cable TV show. Too many contemporary evangelicals want the blessing without obeying their real commander in chief, who said doing things His way would bring real persecution.”

--------

Wisdom's Challenge: All the warnings "needed" have been given. We can continue to highlight all the moral virtue deficiencies we witness day in and day out, but as Christians, only reproving the world of sin, which is a secondary part of our calling, does not and should not preclude our primary calling of sharing the Good News. Yet even the "Good News" needs to be Scripturally correct. The "Good News" is NOT limited to John 3:16 (see what Christ also said in the same breath - John 3:16-21).

The Good News" that both John the Baptist and Jesus proclaimed was the "Good News of the Kingdom of God." (Luke 8:1) So what exactly is this "Kingdom of God?" How does Scripture define it? Is it a religion or is it a government with a King?

As a Christian in America how then are we to respond? Under America's Founders who established a republic (with an electoral college) not a democracy, which provides liberty and equal justice for all faiths and atheists. They did so under the influence of Scripture, as fact and evidence dictates, regardless of what secular liberal humanists may attempt to rewrite, twist, and distort in order to deceive and dupe the masses into submission by a select few.

Who are we to listen to? Who are we to follow? If indeed we possess dual-citizenship of both the Kingdom of God and these United States? If Jesus is in fact our Lord of Lords and our King of Kings should we not fulfill the Great Commission and proclaim the very same Good News of the Kingdom of God? What would result if preachers proclaimed this Good News as much if not more than proclaiming the "bad news" or that which violates "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God?" As much as we may reprove the world of sin, is it not more of a priority to proclaim or shine our King's Light in the darkness? To put this another way, how can those living in darkness know what the Light offers?

John 1:4-5 - In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Do not be dismayed at those who continue to be "politically correct" after being shown the Light, for although we strive for hundredfold in bearing fruit for our Lord, would not ten. twenty, or thirty-fold produce results that reverse the diminishing morality and virtue which began with the despotic branch in 1947?

The Patriot Post Founders' Quote Daily - "As riches increase and accumulate in few hands, as luxury prevails in society, virtue will be in a greater degree considered as only a graceful appendage of wealth, and the tendency of things will be to depart from the republican standard. This is the real disposition of human nature; it is what neither the honorable member nor myself can correct. It is a common misfortunate that awaits our State constitution, as well as all others."  -- Alexander Hamilton (speech to the New York Ratifying Convention, June 1788) Reference: The Works of Alexander Hamilton, Henry Cabot Lodge, ed., II, 26. Election 2008 - (Voting Resources)

Thomas Sowell “Senator Hillary Clinton’s Christmas commercial, showing various government programs as presents under a Christmas tree, was a classic example of calculated confusion in politics. Anyone who believes that the government can give the country presents has fallen for the oldest political illusion of all—the illusion of something for nothing. Santa Claus may turn out to be the real front-runner in the primaries, judging by the way candidates are vying with one another to give away government goodies to the voters. Santa Claus is bipartisan. The Bush administration [unveiled] its plan to rescue people who gambled and lost in the housing markets when the bubble burst. We now have a bipartisan tradition of the government stepping in to rescue people who engaged in risky behavior—whether by locating in the known paths of hurricanes in Florida or in areas repeatedly hit by wildfires over the years in California or by doing things that increase the probability of catching AIDS. Why not also rescue people who gambled away their life’s savings in Las Vegas? That would at least be consistent. Apparently the only people who are supposed to be responsible are the taxpayers—and they are increasingly made responsible for other people’s irresponsibility.”

Terence Jeffrey “There is an ominous change taking place in American culture that could revolutionize our politics, making it more difficult to sustain our free-market system and our tradition of self-reliance, driving more people into government dependency. This change is the decline in marriage and traditional family life. Democrats sense an opportunity in this decline."

America's Christian Heritage (America's Christian Heritage) & Church and State (Wall of Separation?)

Charles Krauthammer - “It’s two centuries since the passage of the First Amendment, and our presidential candidates still cannot distinguish establishment from free exercise.”

Walter Williams “There’s little question that the greatest generation provided their offspring, the baby boomer generation, with goods and services that their parents could not afford to give them. But tragically, the greatest generation did not instill in their children what their parents instilled in them, the values and customs that make for a civilized society. In previous generations, people were held responsible for their behavior. Today, society at large pays for irresponsible behavior... This failure to fully transmit value norms to subsequent generations represents another failing of the greatest generation. If there’s an American generation that can justifiably be called the greatest generation, it’s that generation responsible for the founding of our nation—men such as James Madison, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, George Washington and millions of their fellow countrymen. This is the generation that threw off one form of oppression and laid the foundations for unprecedented human liberty. That is not a trivial achievement, for most often in mankind’s history, one form of oppression has been replaced with another far worse, as we’ve seen in Russia, China and Africa.”

Faith and Family: ‘In God We Trust’ returns - 08-02 Digest PatriotPost.us - Beginning in 2009, the nation’s motto, “In God We Trust,” will return to the face of the presidential dollar coins. The national mint began producing the coins in 2007, with the faces of the first four Presidents—George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison. However, the motto was to be inscribed on the side of the coin, rather than on the face. There was a flap for some time afterward, when the motto was apparently left off some coins altogether, due to an error at the mint. Now, thanks to a provision in the 2008 domestic-spending bill signed by the President after Christmas, the motto will return to either the front or back of the coin, “as soon as is practicable.” The motto will remain on the edge in 2008 for Presidents James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson and Martin Van Buren, but the coins will be modified for 2009.

Islam & the War on Terror - (Radical Islam - War on Terror)

Sher Zieve - “The Democrat Party is telling we-the-people that it will continue to force the U.S. out of Iraq and, presumably, the Middle East as a whole. It is also telling al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations: ‘We’ve got your back, guys, and if we can seize all three branches of government—we’ll give you Iraq and you’ll be home free!”’ 08-02 Digest PatriotPost.us

The Gratitude Campaign (also open short video): From an email message: For the past several years as I've been traveling around the country, I've been approaching soldiers in the airports and thanking them for serving for us. On several occasions I have noticed that it felt a little awkward for both of us. There are several reasons, some of which I am even just now learning as I produce this film and talk to more soldiers. But they have always appreciated being thanked, and I have always felt better having expressed my gratitude. I started to think that it would be nice if civilians had a gesture or sign that they could use to say 'thank you' quickly and easily without even having to approach. I did some research and found the sign that we are now using. Is this limited to the military? Not at all.

Mona Charen - It didn’t get a lot of attention, but in mid-December, U.S. forces in Iraq discovered an al Qaeda torture center north of Baghdad. Muqdadiya is about 60 miles north of the capital. American soldiers found a blood-spattered room where chains still hung on the gory walls. A metal bed frame was still connected to an electric shock generator. The Americans also found bloody knives and swords. Outside, the bodies of 26 people were buried in common graves... Last May, according to The Smoking Gun website, U.S. troops unearthed an even more grisly site, an al Qaeda torture chamber in Baghdad itself. When they entered, the soldiers found an Iraqi man suspended from the ceiling by chains. The room contained torture implements including hammers, whips, meat cleavers and wire cutters as well as a crude torture manual, displaying various methods of inflicting unbearable pain. These included using a blowtorch on the skin, gouging out eyes, using an electric drill to cut through a hand, and many more.

Immigration & English vs. America's Heritage, Sovereignty, Safety, & Security  (Immigration and English)

Gov. Patrick to end-run Legislature on Illegals (CLTG.org) - Arrogance, ignorance, and political naiveté can easily describe Gov. Deval Patrick's announcement yesterday, that he plans to end-run the state Legislature and a vast majority of Massachusetts citizens with some sort of "executive order" if he can figure out a way to pull it off. Naturally, the so-called Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation is again backing this, even if it means usurpation of government powers, the violation of federal and state immigration law.  MTF is a shameless shill for fat-cat Boston big-business power-brokers looking for cheap labor.  This, if nothing else, identifies MTF, its interests, goals, and priorities like nothing else has.  Representing "taxpayers"?  Nobody should and can be fooled any more by what it honestly represents.

Education & Your Children - (Education or Indoctrination? - Education Resources) Children of the State? The primary responsibility of education DOES NOT belong to schools. (Deuteronomy 6:5-7)  See also www.truthatschool.org/news.htm

Michael Barone “I am old enough to remember when America’s colleges and universities seemed to be the most open-minded and intellectually rigorous institutions in our society. Today, something very much like the opposite is true: America’s colleges and universities have become, and have been for some decades, the most closed-minded and intellectually dishonest institutions in our society. Colleges and universities today almost universally have speech codes, which prohibit speech deemed hurtful by others, particularly those who are deemed to be minorities (including women, who are a majority on most campuses these days). They are enforced unequally, so that no one gets punished when students take copies of conservative alternative campus newspapers left for free distribution and dump them in the trash. But should a conservative student call some female students ‘water buffaloes,’ he is sentenced to take sensitivity training—the campus version of communist re-education camps. The message comes through loud and clear. Some kinds of speech are protected, while others are punished.”

Same-sex Relationships / Transgenders / "Hate" Crimes?- ("Against Nature", Same-sex Marriage, "Hate Crimes", Selective Compliance, Hope for the Homosexual)

Romans 1: 26-32 (Power New Testament) Because of this God gave them over into vile passion of disgrace, and indeed their females exchanged the natural function for that contrary to nature, and likewise also the males who neglected the natural function with the females. They were inflamed in their lustful passion with one another, males performing the unseemly deed with males and receiving the reward which was necessary for their deceit in repayment for their sin. And since they did not see fit to have true knowledge of God, God gave them over into an unrighteous (reprobate) mind, to do the shameful things, since they were filled with every unrighteousness, wickedness, avarice, desire to injure. full of envy, murder, contention, deceit, evil habits, whisperers, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, braggart, contriving evil, refusing to obey parents, without understanding, covenant breaking, without natural affection without mercy: who, although they know the ordinances of God thoroughly, because they are practicing such things as these that are worth of death, not only are they doing them but they are applauding others who do them.

Nature's violators continue to confirm the Word of God....

Taxation without virtuous representation (Taxes & Economy)

Abortion, Cloning, Stem-Cell, Pornography, Pedophilia (Information & Resources)

Terence Jeffrey - 08-03 Brief PatriotPost.us - “Barack Obama is the most pro-abortion presidential candidate ever. He is so pro-abortion he refused as an Illinois state senator to support legislation to protect babies who survived late-term abortions because he did not want to concede—as he explained in a cold-blooded speech on the Illinois Senate floor—that these babies, fully outside their mothers’ wombs, with their hearts beating and lungs heaving, were in fact ‘persons.’ ‘Persons,’ of course, are guaranteed equal protection of the law under the 14th Amendment. In 2004, U.S. Senate-candidate Obama mischaracterized his opposition to this legislation. Now, as a presidential frontrunner, he should be held accountable for what he actually said and did about the Born Alive Infants Bill... State and federal versions of this bill became an issue earlier this decade because of ‘induced labor abortion.’ This is usually performed on a baby with Down’s Syndrome or another problem discovered on the cusp of viability. A doctor medicates the mother to cause premature labor. Babies surviving labor are left untreated to die.”

Obama's Abortion Stance Hurts Blacks, Say Pro-Life Experts By Penny Starr (CNSNews.com) Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) may be riding what seems to be a perfect wave toward the Democratic presidential nomination, but some African-Americans say his pro-abortion stance make him a danger to the black community. "Between 1882 and 1962, 3,446 blacks were lynched," says Rev. Clenard H. Childress Jr. on his Web site, blackgenocide.org. "That number is surpassed in less than three days by abortion."

The Elected Officials "We the People" Voted Into Office (Voting)

Walter Williams “Politicians exploit public demands that government ought to do something about this or that problem by taking measures giving them greater control over our lives. For the most part, whatever politicians do, whether it’s rent controls to produce ‘affordable’ housing, or price controls to eliminate ‘price-gouging,’ the result is a calamity worse than the original problem. For example, two of the most costly housing markets are the rent-controlled cities of San Francisco and New York. If you’re over 40, you’ll remember the chaos produced by the gasoline price controls of the 1970s. Socialist agendas have considerable appeal, but they produce disaster, and the more socialist they are, the greater the disaster.”

News & Commentary - (News, Commentary, eSubscriptions)

Rebecca Hagelin “[W]hen you consider why true poverty exists, you realize it’s not simply a matter of pouring more money into this or that government program. ‘There are two main reasons that American children are poor,’ [Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation] writes. ‘Their parents don’t work much, and fathers are absent from the home.’ The typical poor family with children is supported by only 16 hours of work per week. If work in this family were raised to 40 hours per week, he says, nearly 75 percent of poor children would be lifted out of official poverty. As for absent fathers: Nearly two out of every three poor children live in single-parent homes. And each year, another 1.5 million children are born out of wedlock. ‘If poor mothers married the fathers of their children, almost three-quarters would immediately be lifted out of poverty,’ Rector writes. But don’t hold your breath waiting for one of the presidential hopefuls to float that solution.”

Union shenanigans draw attention of Labor Dept - 08-02 Digest PatriotPost.us - One reason America’s labor unions are so eager to see Democrats back in the White House is that then they won’t have to worry about being under the watchful eye of people like Labor Secretary Elaine Chao. According to the department’s Office of Labor Management Standards, court-ordered restitution of union funds increased 16 fold since 2000, when the Clinton administration offered virtually no oversight of unions. Nearly $70 million in restitution has been collected in this decade from cases of embezzlement, illegal electioneering and fraud. In 2007 there were 406 criminal cases filed in connection with illegal activities by unions, leading to 118 convictions. The AFL-CIO persuaded its Democrat friends in Congress to slash funds for the Labor Department’s union-oversight office, and if the Democrats win the White House and hold onto Congress in 2008, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if that office is closed altogether.

Colonel (USMC), San Diego, California (07-49 Digest PatriotPost.us)  “I was in an elevator in a Washington hotel, packed with ‘peace activists.’ They looked with disdain at my dress uniform. I queried the most boisterous among them, ‘If you were locked away in some God-forsaken hell hole of a prison in one of the ‘Stans,’ who would you rather have coming to rescue you, buses loaded with peacenik protestors or helicopters loaded with gung-ho Marines?’ The silence was deafening.”
