Upfront -  Memorial Day (Armed Forces)

WallBuilders.com: This Monday is the official observance of Memorial Day -- a day to honor the more than 1.2 million Americans who gave their lives for our freedoms across two centuries and a dozen wars. In previous generations, sermons were delivered on such important days to provide the added dimension of spiritual significance and Biblical understanding. We thought you might enjoy two Memorial Day sermons from the late-1800s (both were first printed in 1905) along with a short historical background of the day itself. Please click on the following links to view the sermons. Memorial Day Sermon: The Invisible Army (also includes a brief history of Memorial Day) & Memorial Day Sermon: Honorable Scars

CSI:NY Star and Rocker Gary Sinise Rocks the Pentagon Sinise also sidled next to Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Rene Rubiella, from 920th Rescue Wing at Patrick Air Force Base, Fla. Rubiella joined in with a little "air" guitar of his own. "It's extraordinary. We commit our lives to freedom and supporting the Constitution," he said. "It's people like Gary that turn around and make us feel that we are appreciated and that we are loved and that there is a commitment from our nation that we are not forgotten," Rubiella said.

Freedom is not free"Gratitude for our Fallen Troops" by Dean Jones - History asks a simple question of those who would live in freedom, are you willing to die for it?

A Memorial Day Letter to America From “Face-to-Face” Combat To “Arm-in-Arm” Friendship (PDF) By Lt. General Hal G. Moore (Ret.) When the blood of any war soaks your clothes, covers your hands, and soldiers die in your arms, every breath forevermore becomes an appeal for a greater peace and unity.

Oliver North: “Heroes aren’t athletes who set new sports records, or Hollywood actors who make ‘daring’ films or politicians who make bold promises. Heroes are people who place themselves at risk for the benefit of others.”

Mark Twain: "It is a worthy thing to fight for one's freedom; it is another sight finer to fight for another man's."

Douglas Macarthur: "The soldier, above all other people, prays for peace, for he must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war."

Abraham Lincoln at the commemoration of the Battlefield at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania: That from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion, that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation under God, and that government of the people by the people and for the people shall not perish from the earth.

News and commentary (News & Commentary)

Thomas Sowell - Senator John McCain could never convince me to vote for him. Only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama can cause me to vote for McCain. ...Even if you think our presidential choices this election year are between disgust and disaster, anyone who has ever been through a real disaster can tell you that this difference is not small. It is big enough to go vote on election day.

EarsToHear.net comment: Election 2008, what's at stake? Imagine Democrats (politically correct term for secular humanist socialists), gaining more seats in Congress and Barack Obama President. Taxation will increase substantially causing America's free market to diminish. Abortion (killing babies in the womb) will continue to be funded by those taxes. Judges (predictably three appointments) who make law according to secular humanistic socialism will become members of the Supreme Court diminishing even further whatever moral virtue exists within "government." With this "government" in place, family values, the traditional family, education, and the community as a whole will become even more deviant. Individual property rights and the Second Amendment will be in greater jeopardy. Health care may very well become another failed "government" bureaucracy not only costing us more, but placing our health in greater risks due to the proven (Britain, Canada) increased waiting lists and lines as a result of the red tape and doctors leaving their practices. Now for real scary point: Our military and the pronounced appeasement of terrorist and rogue leaders by Barack Obama will make America increasingly vulnerable, while at the same time infringe on our right to bear arms. Consider also the prevailing "Democratic" Party viewpoints concerning border security,  immigration, and complying with United Nations treaties, which diminish America's sovereignty, women's rights, etc. Apathy and ignorance will get us there. All one really has to consider is what organizations and individuals support the Democratic Party. What was it Thomas Sowell said about voting? Conservatives are limited to disturbing choices that will have many voting against someone, versus for someone, but is necessary simply to help prevent the worse that could happen and buy us time to at least slow down the move towards socialism, otherwise "Memorial Day" may come to have a new politically correct meaning.

Liberty or Despotism: Which One Will Be Victorious? Julian Krasta, NMJ.us - The line separating decency and iniquity can be arbitrary. That line vanishes upon close inspection of the wreckage of war and those who offensively wage it. At this moment, beneath politicians' self-serving platitudes about tax increases and troop withdrawals, exists an indissoluble fact: There are regions today where dictatorships are driven by a primordial antipathy for every soul who is not aligned with their suffocating religious beliefs; where human beings - who were formed and birthed in the same way as you and I - fall in line with those dictators in the direction of industrial genocide. In view of this disturbing data, my own free will has become more sacred to me every day, because each day I grow a little more scared I might lose it. It was not always like this. My generation has known tantalizingly brief moments of harmony, when the day-to-day felt as relaxing as a pair of cushy house slippers: A drive to the shore was pleasurable and trouble-free; a stroll to the grocery store after dark for milk and Oreos was never dangerous, because that imperceptible protective dome of liberty always kept us safe. Those memories now seem like illusions, and not just to me. Happiness and peace of mind are proving harder to come by because at-hand, threats are growing louder and in greater numbers from gangs of despots and Islamic clerics who are determined to raze our temple of independence.

We're in for a Bumpy Ride America by Craig Chamberlain - To say that Republicans should be concerned about their prospects in November (at least as far as congressional races go) is something of an understatement. Republicans shouldn't be concerned, they should be terrified....If things are going really well for the Democrats they can have a supermajority in the house, a filibuster proof Senate, and President Obama. With that combination they can ram their undemocratic, socialist agenda down our throats for the next 30 years, and by the time the people get sick of the Democrats it will be too late.

Random thoughts Thomas Sowell - If Barack Obama had given a speech on bowling, it might well have been brilliant and inspiring. But instead he actually tried bowling and threw a gutter ball. The contrast between talking and doing could not have been better illustrated.

Neville Chamberlain

Chamberlains vs. Churchills - "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor and you will have war."  Winston Churchill to Neville Chamberlain after signing the Munich Pact with Hitler - Winston S. Churchill stated, "You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."

Obama: Iran is Just a Tiny Country By Amanda Carpenter - Likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama told supporters Iran is just a “tiny” country at a campaign stop in Oregon Sunday evening. "Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us,” Obama said.

Obama's plan to disarm America Maggies Farm - Either Obama lives in the Land of Pretty Ponies and Lovely Rainbows (or whatever that expression is) or he is indeed hostile to American interests. Yesterday he essentially proposed unilaterally disarming the American economy with his energy ideas, and he wants to cripple us with taxes. On the clip below, he proposes unilateral military disarmament - something which no foe has ever been able to do to us, but one which all of our foes and competitors - and none of our decadent friends who rely on us - would welcome.

08-21 Chronicle Speak softly with no stick: “John McCain has repeated this notion that I’m prepared to negotiate with terrorists. I have never said that. I’ve been adamant about not negotiating with Hamas.” - Barack Obama, who has never gotten the word that Iran and Syria, with whom he would meet unconditionally, fund and enable Hamas

GOP: Get Back Cal Thomas - Democrats didn't steal your issues, sir. You abandoned them. Your party discarded them. Democrats simply engaged in dumpster harvesting. ...(Rep. Mike Pence, Indiana Republican) "We will only defeat the Democrat agenda by presenting a positive, conservative message in vivid contrast to the big government liberalism of the new Majority. To renew our Majority, we must offer this nation a compelling vision of fiscal discipline and reform. We must again embrace the notion that Republicans seek the Majority not simply to govern but to change government for the better. We are the agents of change and we must return to that reformist vision."

If Elected, Barack Obama Would Become 'The Abortion President,' Even Forcing Catholics and Evangelicals to Pay for Abortions Some of Senator Obama's extremist abortion views are: • While a state senator in Illinois, Senator Obama opposed legislation which would prevent the killing of infants that survived late-term abortions. • Senator Obama opposed the ban on Partial-Birth abortions which the Supreme Court found to be Constitutional. The ban on this barbaric procedure is overwhelmingly supported by the majority of the American people. • He stated one of the first things he would like to do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act which would radically expand abortion rights. • Senator Obama recently said after speculating if one of his daughters became pregnant that, "...if they made a mistake, I don't want them punished with a baby." • Senator Obama would make Catholics and evangelicals pay for abortions through his health care plan.

Appeals Court Shoots Down New York City Gun Law By Phyllis Schlafly - The media have been telling us to watch the gun-control case now before the U.S. Supreme Court, where we await a decision about Americans' Second Amendment rights. But the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals just handed down an equally important gun decision that has additional implications against judicial supremacy. ...The court, which convenes in New York City, shot down the longtime liberal dream of achieving gun control by suing gun manufacturers for crimes committed by firearms. In a remarkable decision, this federal appellate court dismissed City of New York v. Beretta U.S.A. Corp. and protected gun corporations against frivolous lawsuits in state and federal courts. The lawsuit was brought by the City of New York in order to seek control over gun suppliers. At stake was not merely money but also whether liberals would obtain from judicial activists the gun control that the liberals could not get from legislatures. ...This ruling broke an alarming trend of judicial supremacy and stopped outrageous lawsuits that tried to impede the sale of guns because of illegal acts committed by New York City residents and others. Billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg was left empty-handed in his attempt to sue businesses concerning crimes committed by residents of his city.

Saudi Arabia Did More Last Week to Lower Gas Prices Than Congress Newt Gingrich - Did The Left just doesn't seem to get it. They spent much of last week ridiculing the President for visiting Saudi Arabia in an effort to lower oil prices. Here's what Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on Friday: "The president seems to value his friendship with the Saudis more than his obligation to help the American people with gas prices." But what Senator Schumer doesn't seem to understand is that the Saudis did more last week to lower oil prices than liberals in Congress did. While liberals were voting to prevent domestic production from oil shale, the Saudis, following President Bush's visit, agreed to boost their oil output by 300,000 barrels a day. It won't fix the problem, but at least it won't make it worse, which is exactly what liberals in Congress did last week. As Americans, we all need to ask ourselves the following: Which is it -- the Congress or Saudi Arabia -- that has a greater obligation to ease our energy prices? And which is the greater obstacle to energy independence and security? The Left's Answer: More Pain, Not More Production. As I mentioned, the higher energy prices Americans are paying are the equivalent of a huge tax increase. One economist calculated that the price of oil rising from $80 a barrel to $100 a barrel had the same effect on Americans' pocket books as a $150 billion tax increase -- and the price of oil has risen an additional $27 since then! So how is it that the liberals in Congress, faced with an opportunity like the one last week to lessen this burden on Americans, could reject it without a second thought? Once again, the answer seems to boil down to three little words: "No we can't."

ACU to Liberal Congress: Come Clean - ACU points to specific examples of where liberal leadership has failed the American people:

Larry Hart, Director of Government Relations for the American Conservative Union, added that as recently as May 13 of this year, the Senate attempted to create a comprehensive energy package to increase domestic oil and gas production only to see it defeated by the liberal leadership once again.

Mexico's High-Technology Solution to Illegal Immigration - "Mexico to use biochip to control illegal immigration," screamed the headline at earthtimes.org late last year. Without reading the small print, one could be lulled into assuming that our third-world neighbors were finally getting the message: Illegal aliens from Mexico are most unwelcome in America! ...Turns out the aggressive program for dealing with illegal aliens pertains to foreigners entering Mexico through its southern border. You know, the untouchables from Guatemala that Mexican authorities have zero tolerance for.

Amnesty proposal gets deep-sixed - An attempt in the Senate to grant amnesty to illegal alien guest workers has failed once again -- and a grassroots activist group is hailing the death of that measure. Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-California) and Larry Craig (R-Idaho) tried to load up the emergency war-spending bill with a provision that would award a five-year work visa to an estimated 1.3 million illegal alien farm workers and their families. The farm worker measure was killed by Senator Bob Menendez (D-New Jersey) on a procedural move. (See earlier story) Ron DeJong is a spokesman for the activist group Grassfire.org, which protested the bill. DeJong is thrilled the measure was dropped, but at the same time is saddened. "This is probably the lowest, most underhanded attempt to pass an amnesty through that we have ever seen," he exclaims. "In the four previous attempts, they've never done anything like blackmailing our troops -- and that's essentially what they were doing. [This measure was] withholding bullets and gas and things that [the troops] need so that they could pass an amnesty." According to DeJong, the measure amounted to "selling citizenship for $250." He explains that under the proposal, illegal immigrants -- to get on the path toward citizenship -- would have had to pay a $250 fine after proving they have worked in the U.S. illegally for 22 weeks over the last five years.

The Cost of Illegal Immigration By Lynn Stuter - In her myriad of articles concerning the illegal alien criminal families of Reyes/Quiroz/Hernandez (hereafter known as the Reyes Gang), Lornet Turnbull of the Seattle Times has made various assertions concerning the illegal alien population in the United States. Two of those assertions are that illegal aliens are of greater benefit to the U.S. economy than detriment; and that the illegal alien population is roughly 12 million. Both of these assertions are, to put it bluntly, outright lies asserted by an individual who supports the criminal illegal alien invasion of the United States. I shall address the second assertion first as it is rather straight-forward: In October 2007 the estimated number of illegal aliens residing in the United States was revised. The figure went from an estimated 12 million to estimated 38 million. Yet six months after the initial release of these revised figures, Turnbull is still using the old figure; quite obviously to give the criminal illegal alien invasion of the United States a less threatening face, a less ominous presence. Now to Turnbull’s assertion the illegal aliens benefit the U.S. economy....

The State of Georgia's Lead in School Choice By Paul Weyrich - There has been a major development in the State of Georgia yet the so-called mainstream media has completely ignored it and even the alternative media hardly has covered it. This past week Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue signed into law the most expansive school-choice program in the nation. Unlike similar programs in other States, this program has no demographic restriction. All students are eligible for private school scholarships. The State Legislature set the cost of the school choice budget at $50 million. If the demand is similar in other States that amount likely will rise considerably. All pupils K-12 are eligible. The program is similar to that which was enacted by the State of Louisiana and continues a trend imposing no eligibility requirement for the scholarships.

America's Best Days Behind Us? by Bobby Eberle - National pollster Scott Rasmussen has a new survey out which indicates that 47% of respondents feel that "America's best days have come and gone." In contrast, only 39% of respondents feel that "the nation's best days are still to come." With results like that, it's no wonder that special elections are being won by the Democrats and the outlook for November is not good at all. People are looking for "change," but a closer look at Rasmussen's results shows that "change" may not exactly be what the media portray it to be. n addition to asking survey respondents about the general state of America, Rasmussen also asked a number of questions to get a general feel of where people stood on the issues.

Latino Youth ‘Queer Prom’ in Chicago Sponsored by Adult Homosexual Bathhouse By Peter LaBarbera, AFTAH Exclusive - Steamworks, a 24/7 Chicago homosexual bathhouse where men go for anonymous sex with other men — one man said it is “like the Disneyland of gay sex” — is one of the sponsors of a “Queer Prom” tomorrow night for Latino homosexual youth. A link for the bathhouse is found in web articles promoting the “Queer Prom,” which, ominously, is also open to adults to attend.

31,000 Scientists Shatter the Myth of a “Scientific Consensus” on Global Warming Environmental extremists routinely assert a “scientific consensus” that global warming is occurring, and that human activity somehow causes it. This week, however, over 31,000 scientists spoke up and reduced that myth to a smoldering rubble. ...That shroud, however, was further torn this week by a 31,000-strong petition organized by the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine (OISM). According to the OISM’s board of scientists, “a review of the research literature concerning the environmental consequences of increased levels of carbon dioxide leads to the conclusion that increases during the 20th Century have produced no deleterious effects upon global weather, climate, or temperature.” To the contrary, the OISM notes that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide have actually increased plant growth rates, among other positive effects. On this basis, the OISM concludes that “predictions of harmful climatic effects due to future increases in minor greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide are in error and do not conform to current experimental knowledge.”

Another marriage made in heaven court.

California Supreme Court Foolishness Justifies Same Sex Marriages - "Today the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of same sex marriages and in so doing turned its back on both the will of the people and clearly biblical teaching," said Walter Hoye, President and Founder of the Issues4Life Foundation. Hoye says, "The only way Californians can reverse this outrageous decision is by passing the 'ProtectMarriage.com' initiative in November and put the definition of marriage in the California state constitution. This will ensure that no judge, politician or special interest group interferes with the will of the people." Hoye goes on to say, "Currently 40% (percent) of children are born out of wedlock so it is clearly in the public interest to encourage people who engage in reproductive acts to marry since only those acts create new life without the staggering and tragic social consequences outside of marriage. By redefining and diluting the definition of marriage, the California Supreme Court has undermined the foundation of our society." Hoye continues by saying, "Strong biblical marriages are part of the answer to the horrifying numbers surrounding abortion in the African-American community. According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI) fact sheet entitled "Facts on Induced Abortion in the United States" dated January 2008, Black abortions totaled 683,294 or accounted for 56% of all legal abortions in the United States in 2005." This percentage equates to the following:

Over The Threshold - Judicial Activism Investor’s Business Daily  - “The slippery slope has been greased. If two men can marry, why not more than two? Are laws against polygamy also a violation of our constitutional rights? Was the Texas cult legal? There you had a lot of people in a committed relationship raising a lot of children. Heterosexual marriage is not some Right-wing plot to deny homosexuals their rights. It’s an institution sanctioned by all successful nations and cultures because of a compelling interest in a stable, growing society with heterosexual marriage providing a sturdy framework for both procreation and the orderly upbringing of children—the future of any society. Opponents of the decision will try to get a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November. That may be the only way to ensure that activist judges don’t further unravel the fabric of society and that government of the people has not become government by just four people.”

56,941-Black babies were aborted every month

13,140-Black babies were aborted every week

..1,871-Black babies were aborted every day

......78-Black babies were aborted every hour

.....1.3-Black babies were aborted every minute

Mr. Hoye concludes by challenging all Christian Leaders, (i.e., Pastors, Priest, Bishops, Rabbis, etc.), to install voter registration drives immediately, using these drives to inform the people of the clearly biblical definition of marriage between a single man and a single woman and the relationship between the impact of abortion in America and strong biblical marriages.

Governor backs same-sex marriage ruling - A day after the state Supreme Court ruled that same-sex couples should have the right to marry in California, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said Friday that he supports the court's decision even though his personal view is that "marriage is between a man and a woman." ..."When the people vote, people are not legal experts, constitutional experts or any of that," he said. "I think that's why we have the courts. People may vote with good intentions, but then the court says, 'This is not constitutional.' "It's not that the court interferes with the will of the people," he added. "But the court says, 'You voted for something, but it's not constitutionally right, so let's rework this.' That's really the idea."

White House: NBC 'Deceitful' in Bush Edits - To set the record straight, the White House on Monday sent a scornful letter to NBC News President Steve Capus, accusing the network of “deceptive” editing of President Bush’s interview with correspondent Richard Engel on the issue of appeasement and Iran. ...Ed Gillespie, counselor to the president, said the editing of those words “is clearly intended to give viewers the impression that [Bush] agreed with [Engel's] characterization of his remarks when he explicitly challenged it.” In the harsh letter sent to the network, and to all members of the media that receive White House press releases, Gillespie wrote: “This deceitful editing to further a media-manufactured storyline is utterly misleading and irresponsible, and I hereby request, in the interest of fairness and accuracy, that the network air the president’s responses to both initial questions in full on the two programs [‘NBC Nightly News’ and ‘Today’] that used the excerpts.”

Tyranny of the atheist minority? By William J. Federer - But exactly how many atheists are in America, anyway? USA Today published Feb. 25, 2008, the results of the U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, conducted by The Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. This survey "of the people" reported that 80.2 percent of Americans hold Judeo-Christian beliefs (51.3 percent Evangelical/Mainline Protestant Christian; 23.9 percent Catholic; 1.6 percent Orthodox & other Christian; 1.7 percent Mormon; and 1.7 percent Jewish.) Those not reporting or who said nothing in particular represented 12.9 percent, while 1.2 percent were Unitarian-Universalist-Spiritual-New Age-Native; 0.7 percent Buddhist; 0.6 percent Muslim; 0.4 percent Hindu; 0.3 percent Other World Religions, 2.4 percent agnostic ... and only 1.6 percent atheist. Imagine that – only 1.6 percent atheists, yet their beliefs are becoming the law of the land. A minority forcing its will on the majority – isn't this the classic definition of tyranny?

Random thoughts Thomas Sowell - At one time, to call someone "green" was to disparage them as inexperienced or immature. Today, to call someone green is to exalt them as one of the environmentalist saviors of the planet. But it is amazing how many people are green in both senses.

A Battle Over a Bible for a Teacher (and a Nation) By Bob Burney - The battle is centered on a mild-mannered, self-effacing middle school science teacher and his Bible. John Freshwater has been a teacher in the Mt. Vernon public schools for over 20 years. Twice he has been designated as “Teacher of the Year” by the School Board—most recently just last year. That was then. A few months ago it seems that a student in one of his classes made accusations that Mr. Freshwater was being too Christian in his class. ...As a result, the School Board demanded that Mr. Freshwater remove a Bible that has been sitting on the corner of his desk for 21 years. ...The ACLU rode into town with the fictional “separation of church and state” penciled in the margins of their Constitution. They threatened the School Board to force the teacher to remove the Bible from his desk or they would sue. ...Shortly after the initial confrontation over the Bible, approximately 75 percent of the students in the middle school brought Bibles to school (yes, a public school) and wore homemade T-shirts supporting their beloved teacher. Reports surfaced of 8th graders moving from class to class lugging huge family Bibles under their arms. On a recent Sunday afternoon the city square swelled with hundreds of supporters for a public rally in support of their “Teacher of the Year” and his Bible. ...No one can predict the end result of the controversy. John Freshwater continues to teach with a “monitor” present in every class to make sure no one is injured by the Book on the corner of the desk. The School Board has launched a full scale investigation into the “allegations,” The Columbus Dispatch has launched a vicious campaign to malign the Christian teacher and the ACLU is standing in the wings like a bunch of hungry jackals waiting to devour this good man, his reputation, his family and the well-being of his students. Sadly, the large Christian civil liberty organizations that often help in cases such as this have been strangely silent. Sadly, it would seem that this battle is not a “slam dunk” and is not worthy of their attention. (Superintendent: Stephen J. Short) - (If you wish to contact, use links provided.)

Cultural Tolerance for Divorce Grows to 70%Along with polygamy, extramarital affairs are one of the least accepted acts - More Americans than ever believe divorce is morally acceptable, with the percentage who say this jumping to 70% in Gallup's 2008 Values and Beliefs survey, up from 59% in 2001, and breaking the previous high of 67% in 2006. (See article for Gallop Poll table on Morally Right/Morally Wrong percentages.)

Intensive Research on Importance of Fathers Shows their Presence is Critical in Families, Society - Teresa Neumann - "Most people know as a matter of common sense that fathers are important and it is generally better for children to have a father than not. Research backs up this common sense." EDITOR'S NOTE (Teresa Neumann): At a time in my life when I was a single mom, articles and research showing the importance of fathers used to make me feel very inadequate. Looking back I realize that is not what they're meant to do (nor is this article). While this research verifies what many already realize—that men are vitally important to a child's development—a father-figure may (out of necessity) be a trusted male who is an older relative, a family friend, teacher, a coach—even a grandfather. However, in light of this article, absentee fathers need to look at their decisions, and those fathers who are ALREADY doing their jobs should be encouraged and vindicated by the research. –Aimee Herd, BCN.  (United Kingdom)—Inspire Magazine reports that Social Policy charity CARE, addressing the increase in IVF in society, has released important new research highlighting the importance of fathers in families and society in general. Dan Boucher, director of parliamentary affairs, explained: "One of the key developments since 1990 and the last Human Fertilization and Embryology Bill has been the publication of a great deal of fathers' research, the balance of which overwhelmingly highlights the importance of fathers. This is not just on the basis that it isn't great if parents split and the father leaves the family home. More profoundly, it demonstrates that fathers bring something to the parenting process that is different from what is brought by the mother, which must be lost in the absence of a father. Most people know as a matter of common sense that fathers are important and it is generally better for children to have a father than not. Research backs up this common sense." Nola Leach head of public affairs said: "It would be extremely irresponsible to turn one's back on the balance of recent research on the basis that there is some limited work, based on very small sample sizes, that reaches different conclusions." Laminin: An Amazing Look at How Jesus is Holding Each of Us Together - The video is an excerpt from a message where Louie Giglo is relating a passage from the Psalm 33, talking about how God made the heavens, and yet has His eye on those who hope in Him, "to deliver them…." After reading the passage, he asks how we can be sure that God will be there for us, and that He holds onto us through every circumstance in our lives. Louie then points to an amazing fact of molecular biology within the human body. A substance that is of vital importance: Laminin. He explains how he was told by a molecular biologist that "there are [thousands] of proteins in the human body. We don't even know how many there are, but one of them is a cell-adhesion molecule that's organized into a certain structure. It tells the cell what its job is in the body. It's like the 'rebar' of the human body…it's the glue…[that holds things together]." Sensing the audience still does not understand the significance or the connection between Laminin and Jesus Christ, Louie then reveals the molecule's structure—first in a diagram, and then as it is found in the body. ...Louie concludes with a passage from Colossians that ties it all together… Col. 1:15-20 "[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created: things in Heaven and on Earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the Church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on Earth or things in Heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross." The video itself is around 8 minutes long, but well worth the watching. I purposely have not included a picture of the Laminin structure, as I don't want to spoil the surprise of what you'll see. Truly, we are "fearfully and wonderfully made," and the Lord has hidden such wonderful revelations of Himself within each one of us!

Understanding Pentecost - The Pentecost Feast was known as the Feast of Weeks (Ex 23:16; 34:22; Lev 23:15-21; Num 28:26-31; Deut 16:9-12; and 2 Chron 8:13). This feast was observed in late May or early June, 50 days after the offering of the barley sheaf at the Feast of Unleavened Bread during Passover ((June 8 this year). Passover is a time to remember our Deliverance. Pentecost is a time to thank God for our blessings, abundance and rejoice over harvest. Characteristics of this time include: Joy, Happiness and Celebration. During this Feast, you enter into a time of offering concerning the Firstfruit Dedication (Lev. 23:9-14; 2 Sam. 21:9-10; Ruth 2:23). This is the Feast to thank God for His abundance, which represents blessing. In the New Testament there are three references to Pentecost. Other than 1 Corinthians 16:8, and Acts 20:16, the most common reference is Acts 2:1. On this day, after the resurrection and ascension of Christ, the disciples were gathered in a house in Jerusalem, and were visited with signs from heaven. The Holy Spirit descended upon them, and new life, power and blessing were evident. The 120 turned to 3,000 in one day. Ask for your 120 to turn to 3,000! The early Christian believers who were gathered in Jerusalem for observance of this feast experienced the outpouring of God's Holy Spirit in a miraculous way. Peter explained that this was a fulfillment of the prophecy of Joel. This feast was also known as the Feast of Harvest (Ex 23:16; 34:22; Num 28:26-31; Deut 16:9-14; Lev 23:15-22). The first sheaf offered at Passover and the two leavened loaves at Pentecost marked the beginning and ending of the grain harvest, and sanctified the whole harvest season. The purpose of this feast was to commemorate the completion of the grain harvest. Its distinguishing feature was the offering of "two leavened loaves" made from the new corn of the completed harvest, which, with "two lambs", were waved before the Lord as a thank offering. Pentecost also was the time of the giving of the law on Sinai (Ex 12:2,19). At Pentecost the Lord wrote the law on our hearts and initiated the Church Age. This became the first Feast that Christians participated in and celebrated. This should be a time of celebration each year. I believe the understanding of this Feast is very important. The spiritual aspect of this is necessary if we are to multiply. Read Psalm 147:14. Recognize that the Lord had given you the best for the year ahead (Ps 147:14) and present a portion to Him.
