Upfront - A Constitutional Obamination? So, it’s all but official. Barack Obama is the Democratic Party’s nominee to be the next President of the United States. While most of the ink being spilled and talk being aired is focused on what the political pundits -- as well as their followers in the mainstream media -- deem to be the crises of today (e.g., gas prices, housing downturn, economic collapse and Iraq), there has been hardly a mention of the all but certain fact that the next President will choose at least two, if not three or more, justices to sit on the U.S. Supreme Court. The actuarial facts are that Justice John Paul Stevens is an octogenarian at 88 years old, and is followed by five colleagues who have all long-since passed Social Security’s retirement age -- namely, Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg (75), Antonin Scalia (72), Anthony Kennedy (71), Stephen Breyer (69) and David Souter (68). Indeed, it’s no secret that multiple vacancies will open up in the next presidency.

Send an e-mail your representative asking him or her to co-sponsor H.J. RES. 89. Congressman Paul Broun of Georgia has introduced the Marriage Protection Amendment of 2008 (H.J. RES. 89). This amendment to the U.S. Constitution would make marriage legal only between a man and a woman.

Random Thoughts Thomas Sowell - Senator John McCain could never convince me to vote for him. Only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama can cause me to vote for McCain.
Obama Was Selected, Not Elected by Ann Coulter - Words mean nothing to liberals. They say whatever will help advance their cause at the moment, switch talking points in a heartbeat, and then act indignant if anyone uses the exact same argument they were using five minutes ago. When Gore won the popular vote in the 2000 election by half a percentage point, but lost the Electoral College -- or, for short, "the constitutionally prescribed method for choosing presidents" -- anyone who denied the sacred importance of the popular vote was either an idiot or a dangerous partisan. But now Hillary has won the popular vote in a Democratic primary, while Obambi has won under the rules. In a spectacular turnabout, media commentators are heaping sarcasm on our plucky Hillary for imagining the "popular vote" has any relevance whatsoever. It's the exact same situation as in 2000, with Hillary in the position of Gore and Obama in the position of Bush. The only difference is: Hillary has a much stronger argument than Gore ever did (and Hillary's more of a man than Gore ever was). Unbeknownst to liberals, who seem to imagine the Constitution is a treatise on gay marriage, our Constitution sets forth rules for the election of a president. Under the Constitution that has led to the greatest individual liberty, prosperity and security ever known to mankind, Americans have no constitutional right to vote for president, at all. (Don't fret Democrats: According to five liberals on the Supreme Court, you do have a right to sodomy and abortion!) Americans certainly have no right to demand that their vote prevail over the electors' vote. The Constitution states that electors from each state are to choose the president, and it is up to state legislatures to determine how those electors are selected. It is only by happenstance that most states use a popular vote to choose their electors. When you vote for president this fall, you will not be voting for Barack Obama or John McCain; you will be voting for an elector who pledges to cast his vote for Obama or McCain. (For those new Obama voters who may be reading, it's like voting for Paula, Randy or Simon to represent you, instead of texting your vote directly.) - Click Here to Continue Reading
Obama and McCain By Thomas Sowell - Now that the two parties have finally selected their presidential candidates, it is time for a sober-- if not grim-- assessment of where we are. Not since 1972 have we been presented with two such painfully inadequate candidates. When election day came that year, I could not bring myself to vote for either George McGovern or Richard Nixon. I stayed home. ...At a time like this, we do not have the luxury of waiting for our ideal candidate or of indulging our emotions by voting for some third party candidate to show our displeasure-- at the cost of putting someone in the White House who is not up to the job. Senator John McCain has been criticized in this column many times. But, when all is said and done, Senator McCain has not spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America. On the contrary, he has paid a huge price for resisting our enemies, even when they held him prisoner and tortured him. The choice between him and Barack Obama should be a no-brainer.
Rush Limbaugh: Found another Barack Obama YouTube video, ladies and gentlemen. This is back in 2007. This is a video that Obama made for a far left-wing organization in 2007, and if this gets wide airplay, Mrs. Clinton may yet have a chance. The rules committee and the bylaws committee meet tomorrow in Washington. There are planned protests. Women from across the spectrum are angry at what is being taken away from them via being hijacked from Mrs. Clinton by a rookie, a dweeb. Reverend Pfleger was right. Our Official Obama Criticizer got it right. And, by the way, Reverend Pfleger is not even original. I am the one who pointed out how Hillary feels. You know damn well they're sitting around... I've said this. I've said this months ago, Reverend Pfleger is a plagiarist. I said it in a little bit more dignified and classy manner than he did -- and of course I said it to you, not from the pulpit of Obama's church. But nevertheless if this video gets out, Mrs. Clinton may yet have a chance. This is Obama taping this message for the Caucus for Priorities, which is "a campaign that set out to recruit 10,000 Iowa caucus attendees to pledge support for the presidential candidate who is strongest in their commitment to significantly shift Pentagon funds to unmet social needs," and this is a video that Obama made for that group to convince them he was their guy to disarm the United States of America. The name of the group is the Caucus for Priorities, and here's what he said to them. Read the MRC story that Rush referenced.
Barack Obama Distinguished by Lack of Experience and Inveterate Liberalism Commenting on the fact that Sen. Barack Obama has now secured his party's presidential nomination, Vision America President Dr. Rick Scarborough observed: "We don't know a lot about Sen. Obama's plans for America. On the campaign trail, he has mostly spoken in generalities. What we do know is that, if elected, he would be the least experienced man to occupy the White House in at least the last 100 years. We also know that by every conceivable measure, the charismatic Senator is a dyed-in-the-wool liberal." ...Besides his breathtaking lack of experience, Obama is distinguished primarily by his inveterate liberalism. Scarborough: "The National Journal rated Sen. Obama the most liberal member of the United States Senate in 2007 - more liberal than Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton or Ted Kennedy. I can't think of a single issue - foreign or domestic - where Obama deviates one iota from the left wing of his party."
An exclusive Newsmax analysis warns: There could be a very rough time ahead. President Obama and the Coming Stock Market Crash How destructive to the U.S. economy would a Barack Obama presidency be? Beneath Obama's flowery rhetoric lies a dangerous economic plan that will wreak havoc on the American economy. Obama plans to return to the failed policies of high taxation coupled with an expansion of government spending. Worse, Obama says he is absolutely committed to almost doubling the capital gains rate — something he will easily accomplish with a Democrat Congress. In the coming months — when investors realize that Obama will raise the cap gains rate — there could be a stampede of asset sales as investors rush to take their profits now to avoid Obama's doubling of the tax rates next year. All of these issues and more are explored in Newsmax magazine's special report "Obamanomics — the Coming Tax-and-Spend Nightmare," by Wall Street Journal columnist John Fund. This Newsmax magazine special report gives Americans the first in-depth look at the Democratic presidential candidate's likely strategies — and how they will affect not just the larger economy, but your personal wealth as well. Indeed, Obama makes no bones about his plans to go on a tax rampage. Not only would he increase the capital-gains tax rate from 15 percent to as much as 28 percent, he wants to allow the 2001 and 2003 Bush tax cuts to expire in 2010, which effectively raises taxes on Americans by tens of billions of dollars. He also wants to do away with the $102,000 FICA payroll tax cap, which means anyone making over $102,000 would pay an additional 7 percent in taxes on earned income. And the loan dividend tax rate George Bush implemented? Under President Obama it will be DOA! If you are concerned about your wealth and family's financial well-being — and that the American economy remains strong — you must read this special report and share it with friends and family.
Ted Kennedy Health Care Not for Average Citizen By: Newsmax Staff - The quality medical care Ted Kennedy quickly received after his brain cancer diagnosis would not be available to Americans if the U.S. adopted the healthcare policies advocated by the Massachusetts Senator and other liberals, an expert opines.
Partisan Battle Over Judicial Nominees Brings Gridlock to Senate Floor - Why do this? Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky, said his Democratic counterpart, Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., broke a promise to try to confirm 15 federal circuit judges by the end of the year, a rate that matches that of the last two years of President Clinton's administration. McConnell and Reid actually agreed to shoot for 17 confirmations, the average of the last three administrations' final two years in office, but McConnell has said he would "settle for 15." Democrats have surpassed the rate of federal district judge nominees, but to date, the Senate has confirmed only eight of President Bush's circuit court nominees. (EarsToHear.net comment: It should be blatantly obvious that Democrats (tyrannical socialists) are delaying Bush appointments in favor of Obama appointments after November to place even more liberal justices who will do their bidding to re-write the Constitution and mandate a government of the Democrats, by the judges, for the sheeple.)
Obama backtracks on Jerusalem [06.06.2008] Yesterday we reported that Barrack Obama was committed to a united Jerusalem. Unfortunately he has since changed his mind. "Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided," Obama declared Wednesday, to rousing applause from the 7,000-plus attendees at the AIPAC conference in Washington, DC. But a campaign adviser clarified Thursday that Obama believes "Jerusalem is a final status issue, which means it has to be negotiated between the two parties" as part of "an agreement that they both can live with." "Two principles should apply to any outcome," which the adviser gave as: "Jerusalem remains Israel's capital and it's not going to be divided by barbed wire and checkpoints as it was in 1948-1967." The adviser went on to say that he doesn't rule out Jerusalem being the capital of a Palestinian State. Senator Obama claims he wants to end the status quo of political rancor. He should know that his statements and that of his campaign are completely incompatible. Senator Obama is insulting the intelligence of the voting public if he thinks otherwise.
Iraq and the Election - This spring, the Iraqi army routed insurgents in three of their most important urban strongholds. These gains follow the success of the surge in crushing al Qaeda in the Sunni triangle, meaning that we are at last on the verge of winning in Iraq and securing a strategic victory in the Middle East. Question: Is this emerging victory – achieved at a cost of more than 4,000 American lives – something we are prepared to abandon after November?
The Power of Four Dollars by Charles Krauthammer: At $3 a gallon, Americans just grin and bear it, suck it up, and, while complaining profusely, keep driving like crazy. At $4, it is a world transformed.
HOUSE DEMS SAY NO TO MORE OIL (RFCnet.org Week Ending June 6) - During the last twelve years 86% of Democrats have voted against ANWR exploration and 78% have voted against processing coal to liquid fuel. In addition 86% of Democrat House members voted against oil shale exploration and 83% voted against outer Continental Shelf exploration. NOTE: China's main oil company is drilling just 45 miles from Key West, Florida but Democrats will not allow US oil companies to drill there. And finally, 96% House Democrats have voted over the past 12 years against increasing oil refinery capacity in the USA. Sort of clarifies why gas is over $4.00 a gallon.
News from the Swamp: Budget buster On the Hill: Democrats in the House and Senate passed the $3.1-trillion 2009 budget plan this week, a nonbinding resolution, as they patted themselves on the back for their fiscal responsibility. Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-ND) boasted that the budget plan would “strengthen the economy and create jobs. It will provide tax cuts for the middle class, and it will restore fiscal responsibility by balancing the books by 2012 and maintaining balance in 2013.” The fine print reveals the secret to this promise. The plan assumes that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost nothing after next year. It also anticipates that the Bush tax cuts will expire by 2011. In other words, Democrats are about to hit Americans with the largest tax hike in history. And that doesn’t include the Alternative Minimum Tax, which Democrats continue to ignore as it prepares to hit more than 20 million middle-class families. Investor’s Business Daily further puts the lie to the Democrats’ rhetoric on fiscal responsibility: “[T]he 2009 budget for the first time ever spends $1 trillion on discretionary (non-defense, non-entitlement) items.” Change you can believe in, all right. Congressional earmark games The House is busy slipping some dead-of-night earmarks into the $601-billion defense authorization, complete with language compelling federal agencies to spend the money or else lose funding next time around, contrary to a White House directive that federal agencies not spend such money. This blatant rejection of earmark reform flies in the face of the pledge that put Democrats in charge of Congress in 2006. Rather than cutting back earmarks or at least posting them transparently for all to see, the fresh pork is dropped into the conference report after the bill has already passed. The White House has threatened a veto of any pork-laden legislation, and we hope that President Bush is up to the fight. Exposing Democrats for the spendthrift hypocrites that they are before Election Day could make for some illuminating news, if anyone’s paying attention.
The SPP and Merging Military Command Structures by Dana Gabriel - Portions of the Civil Assistance Plan (CAP) signed by the U.S.-Canadian military in mid-February were just recently posted on the U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) and Canada Command websites. The plan would allow for military from one nation to support the armed forces of the other nation during a civil emergency, including one that does not involve a cross-border crisis. Some fear that this agreement could lead to foreign troops being used for gun confiscation and marital law. CAP, along with the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), are further advancing the merging of U.S.-Canadian military command structures and represent steps towards a North American Union. In 2002, then U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, announced the creation of NORTHCOM, and boasted that it would have jurisdiction over all of North America.
Bush Works to Make Tax Cuts Permanent Families would be the hardest hit by a hike in taxes. Families would be the hardest hit by a hike in taxes. Although the Democrat-controlled Congress doesn’t appear anxious to renew most of his tax cuts, President Bush is pushing to make them permanent. If they expire, he said, a hurting economy would get worse. Keith Hennessy, deputy director of the National Economic Council, said the repercussions are obvious. “If the tax cuts don’t get renewed, taxes are going up," he said. “The marriage penalty will return in full force. The death tax will come back to life. And business taxes will be going up, as well.” The marriage penalty penalizes married couples, charging them more for filing taxes jointly than if each one had filed individually. "As a matter of principle, you don’t want a tax system that has, by design, a discouragement of marriage," said J.D. Foster, a senior fellow at The Heritage Foundation. Foster said it’s not too late for Congress to take action. “(The tax cuts) are in law to the end of 2010," he said. "So Congress has time to act before a major tax increase would go through.” For more information: The poor are facing a steep marriage penalty."Politically Correct" - (Politically Correct) Examples and results of using unrighteous deception which lack Biblical Moral Virtue. He that ears to hear, let him hear how the liberal socialists spin and turn righteousness on its head. - Taking advantage of a complacent public and co-conspirator media - Deceptive Spin: The Headline: "Barack leaves his church" versus what he actually said: "I'm not denouncing the church and I'm not interested in people who want me to denounce the church... The church has been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them... I know it's the right thing to do for the church...."

Q&A: Ideology by the Numbers by Gary Schneeberger, vice president - Author Peter Schweizer mines volumes of social science data to determine that a conservative worldview is better than a liberal one — for individuals and society. If you’re reading these words for any reason other than “opposition research,” chances are you’re a conservative. If you’re a conservative, chances are someone who is not a conservative has called you “self-righteous,” “fanatical,” “judgmental,” “out of touch,” “arrogant,” “condescending” or “dumb” — or some variation thereof — for your views about social issues. So chances are you’re going to love Peter Schweizer’s new book, Makers and Takers: Why Conservatives Work Harder, Feel Happier, Have Closer Families, Take Fewer Drugs, Give More Generously, Value Honesty More, Are Less Materialistic and Envious, Whine Less … And Even Hug Their Children More Than Liberals. While you catch your breath after reading that subtitle, consider some of these tidbits that Schweizer, a research fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, packs into 212 eye-opening pages: ...
Obama Enjoys Support of New Generation of Christian Leaders By Floyd and Mary Beth Brown - Younger Christian leaders are picking new causes; many are joining the Obama bandwagon as it crosses America, and their elders are not impressed. "Who in the next generation will be willing to take the heat, when it's so much safer and more comfortable to avoid controversial subjects?" asked James Dobson of Focus on the Family at the National Religious Broadcasters conference. With the evangelical leaders who fought against abortion -- and for protection of the institution of marriage -- now retiring and dying, a void is beginning to appear. Just like a little wooden boat floating downstream, many evangelical Christians are adrift in new swift currents of a "social gospel." Respected researcher Berit Kjos aptly explains the changes: "God calls us to serve the poor and fills our hearts with love for the needy. That's why His true followers around the world have willingly given their lives to share His truth and love in perilous places. But today's world-centered church illustrates a different kind of service. Designed to please man rather than God, it trains its servers to hide the 'offensive' truths of the gospel." "Like Rick Warren," Kjos says, "it uses the Bible to validate its purposes but emphasizes organizational behavior rather than Biblical beliefs -- in short, deeds instead of creeds. Behind its noble appearance hides a postmodern version of the century-old 'Christian Socialism.'"
