Upfront - Democrats Keep Judicial Nominees in Holding Pattern - Supporters of Judge Robert Conrad rally in Washington, call for immediate committee vote. Conservative lawmakers and family advocates gathered in Washington, D.C., today in support of Judge Robert Conrad, who was nominated to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court in July 2007 and has been waiting for a vote ever since. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, again called on Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., chairman of the committee, to schedule a hearing for Conrad. North Carolina Sens. Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr joined Concerned Women for America and others at the rally. “Bob Conrad is a very qualified nominee with a long history of public service, and he has a reputation as a fair and capable judge,” Burr said. “His confirmation has been delayed for over 330 days, and it is wrong to hold up this nomination.” In President Bush's final two years in office, the Senate has confirmed just eight circuit court nominees. Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said the average for the last two years of a president’s term is 16 or 17 confirmed court of appeals judges. “Senator Leahy has made an art form out of his slow-walking of candidates, his empty promises of votes that never happen, his slander of well-qualified nominees that are not liberal enough for him, and then figuring out a way to blame the president for his (Leahy's) obstructionism," Hausknecht said. Also stuck in a holding pattern are Peter Keisler and Steve Matthews. Keisler has been waiting nearly two years. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has been working with Specter for months to push Leahy to confirm these judges. “The majority needs to start confirming circuit court nominees,” McConnell said in a statement. “Unfortunately, the Judiciary Committee is moving at a glacial pace. “There are several outstanding nominees who have been sitting in the committee who meet the chairman’s criteria, and until they are treated fairly, the majority will find our cooperation increasingly hard to come by.” (See first item in Take Action below.)

On Video: Democrats Call For Government Take Over of Oil Industry - In response to President Bush's demand that Congress lift the moratorium on off-shore drilling, Democrat Maurice Hinchey -- while the cameras were rolling -- actually CALLED FOR THE NATIONALIZATION OF OIL REFINERIES! But don't take our word for it! Use this hyperlink to see it on camera as caught by FOX News. But this is NOT an isolated incident. This is NOT the first time liberals in Congress slipped in front of the cameras... tipped their hand... and let their socialist intentions be known. Last month during a congressional dog-and-pony show, Democrat Maxine Waters actually called for a GOVERNMENT TAKE OVER OF THE OIL INDUSTRY! Again, don't take our word for it! Use this hyperlink and see it for yourself. In fact, Waters flubs and catches herself as she is about to scream the word "SOCIALISM!" If you want to stop this threat to our country, our liberties and our way of life then join us in sending a high impact message to President Bush and each and everyone of the 22 Republican leaders of the Senate and the House.

Make the Election About Iraq By Charles Krauthammer In his St. Paul victory speech, Barack Obama pledged again to pull out of Iraq. Rather than “continue a policy in Iraq that asks everything of our brave men and women in uniform and nothing of Iraqi politicians,... [i]t’s time for Iraqis to take responsibility for their future.” We know Obama hasn’t been to Iraq in more than two years, but does he not read the papers? Does he not know anything about developments on the ground? Here is the “nothing” that Iraqis have been doing in the past few months: ...The disconnect between what Democrats are saying about Iraq and what is actually happening there has reached grotesque proportions. Democrats won an exhilarating electoral victory in 2006 pledging withdrawal at a time when conditions in Iraq were dire and we were indeed losing the war. Two years later, when everything is changed, they continue to reflexively repeat their “narrative of defeat and retreat” (as Joe Lieberman so memorably called it) as if nothing has changed. ...The choice could not be more clearly drawn. The Democrats’ one objective in Iraq is withdrawal. McCain’s one objective is victory. ...Obama and the Democrats would forfeit every one of these successes to a declared policy of fixed and unconditional withdrawal. If McCain cannot take to the American people the case for the folly of that policy, he will not be president. Nor should he be. Give the speech, senator. Give it now.
Gore's Home Still Guzzling Energy - In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former vice president’s home energy use surged more than 10 percent, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.
U.S. Says 400-Billion Barrel Bakken Oil Field a 'Myth' Reports circulating on the Internet tell of an oil field spanning parts of western North Dakota and eastern Montana where 400 billion barrels of oil supposedly are just waiting to be tapped. However, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) tells Cybercast News Service that those huge estimates are "a myth." A USGS report issued in April estimates that there are between 3 billion to 4.3 billion barrels of oil in what is referred to as "the Bakken Formation" -- well below the 400 billion barrels discussed on the Web, but up from the previous estimate of 151 million barrels made in 1995.
Bakken oil formation has industry gushing - Published: Monday, December 10, 2007 Saskatchewan could be sitting on 25 billion to 100 billion barrels of sweet, light crude oil in the Bakken formation in the southeast part of the province, according to industry and government estimates. By comparison, the heavy oil resource in west-central Saskatchewan, which is considered to have great potential for future production, is estimated to be 25 billion barrels of oil in place.
Obama and The Don't Drill Democrats To America: Don't Drive. Just Shut Up and Sweat In Your Dark House. By Hugh Hewitt - When Barack Obama told a Pennsylvania audience this past weekend that "We can't drill our way out of this," he was repeating the same line that Nancy Pelosi used days earlier and that Harry Reid used on Wednesday.
Fatherlessness and same-sex parenting
It's been many years since the late Senator Patrick Moynihan
tried to sound the alarm about the problem of fatherlessness in the black
community and its long-term implications. Not only did his words fall largely
on deaf ears, he was harshly criticized for speaking up about it. Sadly, what
Moynihan saw happening in the black community has now happened in American
society as a whole. ...I
recently had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, a
psychiatrist, physicist and author of Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth, on the subject of fatherlessness and how it should inform
discussions of same-sex parenting. Satinover told me that there is a myriad of
evidence which makes it, as he put it, "crystal clear that the absence of a
father in a child's life is one of the most pathogenic features you could
conceive of. For the last 35 years there have been hundreds and hundreds of
studies examining the long-term impact on children of being raised without
fathers. That's because fatherlessness has become a phenomenon not primarily
due to the gay movement, but due to the impact of heterosexual divorce and
other forms of heterosexual misbehavior."
If 'The Media' Dislike Hillary, How Do They Feel About Those ----- Republicans? By Larry Elder - What, media bias in favor of Obama, a leftist Democrat? Yet the same left-leaning media "hates" Hillary Clinton? Really? How about a little evidence?
Black 'conservatives' blasted for pro-Obama remarks Two black conservatives -- one a pastor, the other a leader of an urban ministry -- say they can't understand why a number of black Republicans have publicly said they are considering voting for Barack Obama this election. It should be about character, they say, not skin color.
HRC endorses Obama, calls him 'understanding' One of the most powerful homosexual lobby groups in the U.S. has endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
Tackling Five Modern Myths Created By Liberals Part 2 By John Hawkins - Correcting the myths created and propagated by the liberals in the mainstream media could be an all day, every day job. In fact, there are organizations like the Media Research Center that do just that. However, the mainstream media is so biased to the Left and churns out so many inaccuracies each day, that sometimes even truly enormous myths manage to slip through the cracks and become accepted as fact. Last week, I covered five of those big lies. This week, I'm going to take on five more left-wing fantasies that you've undoubtedly heard repeated over and over again ad nauseam. ...No weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq, Tax cuts lead to revenue drops for the federal government, After General Eric Shinseki said we would need 500,000 troops to handle post-war Iraq, he was fired, George Bush stole the 2004 election by cheating in Ohio, Oil companies gouge consumers to make outsized profits.
Planned Parenthood Benefit Removed from War Supplemental A provision that would have benefited Planned Parenthood was stripped at the last minute from the War Supplemental Bill. This provision would have allowed for certain Planned Parenthood clinics and university healthcare centers to get drugs at nominal prices, allowing for easier and cheaper distribution of controversial drugs such as Plan B. The U.S. House of Representatives passed the bill last night to fund our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wendy Wright, President of Concerned Women for America (CWA), said, "Our troops need funding, and their bill should not be loaded up with benefits for Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood already receives over $300 million in funding from federal, state and local governments. In 2006, Planned Parenthood reported a record revenue of $112 million. CWA is pleased this bill funds our troops instead of lining the already inflated pockets of Planned Parenthood." Concerned Women for America is the nation's largest public policy women's organization.

Obama: Bin Laden Must Not Be a Martyr - Obama said he would want to bring him to justice "in a way that allows the entire world to understand the murderous acts that he's engaged in and not to make him into a martyr."
Andrew C. McCarthy, Legal Commentator, Terrorism Expert and Former Federal Prosecutor, On the Supreme Court's 5-4 Ruling Affording Certain Rights to Terrorist Detainees: "It is difficult to single out the most outrageous aspect of Justice Anthony Kennedy's majority opinion in the Supreme Court's cataclysmic Boumediene ruling last Thursday: The reckless vesting of constitutional rights in aliens whose only connection with our body politic is their bloody jihad against Americans; the roughshod ride over binding precedent to accomplish that feat; or the smug arrogance perfectly captured by dissenting Chief Justice John Roberts's description of a 'constitutional bait and switch' -- a Court that first beseeches the political branches to enact a statutory procedure for handling combatant detentions, and then, once a thoughtful law is compliantly passed, invalidates the effort for its failure to satisfy the eccentric predilections of five lawyers."
This week’s ‘Braying Jackass’ award “[O]pening our coastlines to offshore drilling would take at least a decade to produce any oil at all, and the effect on gasoline prices would be negligible at best since America only has three percent of the world’s oil. It’s another example of short-term political posturing from Washington, not the long-term leadership we need to solve our dependence on oil.” —Barack Obama, kowtowing to his party’s environmental extremists at the expense of average Americans
“I’m all for hiring women in the newsroom and minorities in the newsroom—I’m all for it. It opens up our eyes and gives us a different perspective. But just as well, let’s have people with military experience. Let’s have people from all walks of life. People from the top echelon schools, but people from junior colleges and the so-called middling schools—that’s the rich pageantry of America. I’m a great believer in racial diversity and gender diversity, but you need cultural diversity, you need ideological diversity.” - the late Tim Russert

"The philosophy of the schoolhouse in one generation will be the philosophy of government in the next." Abraham Lincoln
"Freedom is a fragile thing and is never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. Those who have known freedom, and then lost it, have never known it again." Ronald Reagan

When listed as one option, public schools lose - U.S. states are being surveyed one at a time by the Friedman Foundation for Educational Choice in order to determine the feelings of residents on school choice....According to a press release, 39 percent of Idahoans would prefer sending their child to a private school; 25 percent, a charter school; and 21 percent, home schooling. If full choices were available, Diperna claims that only 12 percent of Idaho parents would choose the public school system. In other states, he says, that number fluctuates.
