Today's Christians: no hope in God's way Chuck Baldwin Chuck Baldwin - Most everyone, including Christian people, realize that our country is in a mess. They readily agree that a divine healing is needed. They even use the great stories and examples of the Bible to teach our boys and girls how to obey and trust God. They extol the examples of Daniel, the three Hebrew children, Simon Peter and the Apostles, etc. They use these stories to illustrate the importance of putting obedience to God and God's principles above the machinations and demands of men. When it comes to voting for and supporting candidates who have proven themselves to be unfaithful to the fundamental principles of liberty and good government, however, these same Christians suddenly become enamored with "the lesser of two evils," and pragmatism. Doing right gives way to being "practical," and standing for principle gives way to "not throwing my vote away." ...When people — especially Christian people — start doing their duty and standing for truth and principle, whether it is considered politically incorrect, or unpopular, or "naïve," or anything else; then, and only then, will God give us the results that will bring healing and restoration of our land.
Out of Failure, America Finds Success by Roger Simon - America was a country founded by failures who could not get along in the Old World and who came to a wilderness because there was simply no place else to go. America was a country settled by failures — pioneers who could not adjust to the crowded life of the Eastern Seaboard and who went West because there was no place else for them. America was a country built by failures — men and women who never attained the dream of owning their own business and being their own boss. Men and women whose lives were ruled by the alarm clock in the morning and the factory whistle in the evening. Years and years of history books have taught us that America was shaped by the great deeds of great men and women. It was not. America was shaped by the great deeds of ordinary men and women. America always has been better than its government, that its people have always been more decent than their presidents, and that the strength and greatness of this nation lies in them, the men and women who are not great and who never will be.

Send a letter to your two U.S. Senators asking that Leahy schedule on all of the stalled nominees. “Unfortunately, it is likely that Sen. Leahy will continue to block President Bush’s nominees, unless there is a significant public outcry about this subversion of our legal system,” said TVC Executive Director Andrea Lafferty. “Leahy’s blocking of judicial nominees has caused a legal crisis that impacts every state in the union and every person seeking justice under the law. What Liberals Dream Of by David Strom - Don’t think that a few years of liberals in charge is that dangerous? Just take a moment to consider what liberals dream of doing once they gain absolute power. There is no aspect of our lives—none—that today’s liberals concede is off limits to the meddling use of government power. In their vision there is no dividing line between the public sphere and the private sphere. Limited government is a concept that makes no sense to them... Energy policies are just the tip of the iceberg—although control over energy gives government control over pretty much the entire economy already. In a world run by liberals literally no aspect of our lives will be outside the legitimate regulation of government. That is because anything—even what temperature you like to keep your house—can be turned into a matter of legitimate public concern. Everything we do, including breathing, eating and of course procreating, can be argued to have an impact on those around us or the great mother earth. And if it affects others, it can and should be regulated by those who know best, at least according to the liberals. Liberals want to regulate just about everything: where we live, what fuels we use, what car we drive, whether we can drive or be forced to use government mass transit, where we send our kids to school, what doctor we see, and even to what extent we express our approval or disapproval of others’ lifestyles. It’s hard to find something liberals don’t want to regulate. Is that a world you want to live in?

Arctic Ice Looking Pretty Solid - If you've been paying even cursory attention to the Global Warming issue this year, you've probably heard some activists claim that this might be the summer where the polar ice caps completely disappear (for example, check out this story from the Sydney Morning Herald, or this one from AFP). With all this 'doom speak,' we thought you might want to take a look at the state of the North Pole as of Saturday, July 12, and judge for yourself.
From the same site, we find this graph, which shows that there is, in fact, more ice covering the Arctic Circle than there was last year.
Are Facts Obsolete? by Thomas Sowell - In an election campaign in which not only young liberals, but also some people who are neither young nor liberals, seem absolutely mesmerized by the skilled rhetoric of Barack Obama, facts have receded even further into the background than usual. As the hypnotic mantra of "change" is repeated endlessly, few people even raise the question of whether what few specifics we hear represent any real change, much less a change for the better. Raising taxes, increasing government spending and demonizing business? That is straight out of the New Deal of the 1930s. ...If you are a nurse or mechanic who will be depending on your pension to take care of you when you retire-- as Social Security is unlikely to do-- you may not think of yourself as one of the privileged. OBAMA VOTES FOR TERRORISM BILL - In a complete about face Senator Barack Obama voted for the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Bill backed by President George W. Bush. Just last October, an Obama campaign spokesman issued a statement declaring, "To be clear: Barack will support a filibuster of any bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecommunications companies." Obama received huge amounts of money from trial lawyer groups that expect a windfall from a Democrat controlled White House that will allow them to sue companies on everything from auto emissions to Palestinian land rights. The Threat of Non-Citizen Voting by Hans A. von Spakovsky Legal Memorandum #28 In 2005, the U.S. Government Accountability Office found that up to 3 percent of the 30,000 individuals called for jury duty from voter registration rolls over a two-year period in just one U.S. district court were not U.S. citizens.[1] While that may not seem like many, just 3 percent of registered voters would have been more than enough to provide the winning presidential vote margin in Florida in 2000. Indeed, the Census Bureau estimates that there are over a million illegal aliens in Florida,[2] and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has prosecuted more non-citizen voting cases in Florida than in any other state.[3] Florida is not unique.

I speak to HUNDREDS of incarcerated immigrants, legal and illegal, on the phone every year, and their family members too, and 98% of them don't speak enough English to carry on an understandable conversation about their or their family member's legal situation. I thought speaking conversational English was a test for being granted citizenship. Conversational English does NOT mean "Where's the bathroom?" or "How much for this?" Get real, people!

Education union sues think tank for...releasing data? When the Buckeye Institute released a report that showed serious funding inequality across schools in the same districts in Ohio, mayoral candidate Bill Todd reacted so strongly that he used those numbers in a lawsuit against the Columbus City School District. Pretty soon, the Columbus Education Association (CEA) sued the Buckeye Institute, claiming the non-profit think-tank participated in political activity because their numbers were used in Todd's lawsuit. The think tank released a statement that said this, "The Buckeye Institute will not be intimidated by union bullies who seek to silence opposing points of view. The CEA attacked us today because we have facts showing how teacher union contracts in Ohio shortchange children, and especially disadvantaged children." It seems absurd that the CEA would sue a think tank for releasing data. From what I can tell, they aren't contesting the accuracy of the data. Then again, I can't say that expect any better from Ohio's education unions.

Internet Evangelist Vows to Lead Nation Back to God and Biblical Values The world's leading Internet evangelist, Bill Keller - founder of Liveprayer.com and the host of the Liveprayer TV program - has launched the Jonah Project to call the United States to repent, or face the judgment of God. In much the same way as the word delivered by the prophet Jonah 2900 years ago to the ancient city of Nineveh, Keller claims the Lord has called him to warn the nation to turn back to God and Biblical values, or experience His judgment for our sins and wickedness.
