News and commentary (News & Commentary)
Thomas Sowell - "Senator John McCain could never convince me to vote for him. Only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama can cause me to vote for McCain." ...“Obama is being hailed as the newest and freshest face on the American political scene. But he is advocating some of the oldest fallacies, just as if it was the 1960s again, or as if he has learned nothing and forgotten nothing since then... But politics is not about facts. It is about what politicians can get people to believe.”
Obama’s Views Not Consistent With Christianity, Conservative Says - Americans should question Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-Ill.) commitment to Christianity based on his “disregard” for unborn life, well-known black conservative author and activist Star Parker said. ...Parker, who is president of CURE, a think-tank that focuses on issues of race and poverty in America, said in addition to abortion, she is concerned about America’s dependence on welfare and the consequences that Obama’s support for such policies will have in the U.S. “There’s a problem in this hardcore, left philosophy of Barack Obama that people keep dismissing,” said Parker. “I think [Obama’s social policies] will destroy what’s left of the black family. Socialism doesn’t work. It doesn’t work for individuals, it doesn’t work for families and it doesn’t work for our society. Our society cannot coexist with socialism.”
Pelosi Backs Obama on Repeal of Defense of Marriage Act - If Barack Obama is elected president, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will support him in fulfilling his vow to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which currently protects states from having to recognize same-sex marriages contracted in other states as they ordinarily would be required to do by the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the Constitution. “Yes,” Pelosi said Thursday at a press conference, when CNSNews.com asked if she would support Obama’s policy. McCain failing to reach evangelicals A Michigan political scientist believes John McCain is using an outdated strategy to reach conservative evangelical Christians and no strategy to attract evangelical swing voters.
Evangelicals Support McCain by Wide Margin - More than 6 in 10 evangelicals who are likely to vote in November support Sen. John McCain for president, while just 17 percent side with Sen. Barack Obama. That's according to a nationwide survey of 1,003 adults taken this month by The Barna Group, which identifies evangelicals based on nine belief questions. Obama maintains an overall lead of 43 percent to 34 percent, as well as wide — but shrinking — support among most faith segments. Among atheists and agnostics, his lead is 55 percent to 17 percent. Catholics are standing behind Obama, 39 percent to 29 percent. George Barna, founder of The Barna Group, said he believes the faith community may emerge as the deciding factor in the election. "It is unusual to see such significant movement within the core segments of the Christian community," he said. "While there is still a decided preference for Senator Obama, the more conservative element of the Christian population is slowly coming to grips with what an Obama presidency might be like. "As the finer points of a wide range of issues are clarified by each nominee, the initial excitement about Senator Obama has lost some luster to an increasing number of people whose vote is influenced by their spiritual perspectives."
Exclusive: McCain Takes Step of Faith Towards Conservative Groups - The Brody File is interrupting vacation to bring you an exclusive news story. We have in our possession a document that's being sent out by the McCain campaign to conservative, grassroots groups across the country today. It highlights John McCain's faith. To look at the document that's being sent out, click here. Read part of what it says below: Dear Friends, Many of you have asked about John McCain's faith. John McCain is a strong Christian, but he believes that, in the context of the campaign, his faith is a personal issue. Excerpts directly from John McCain's family memoir entitled, Faith of My Fathers, best explain the shaping and content of John McCain's faith. Clearly, the McCain campaign realizes that these conservative activists want to hear more on his faith. This has been the word the campaign has been getting from these groups for months and now we're really starting to see the beginning of that effort. What's apparent is that the message from John McCain to religious groups is that if they have questions when it comes to his faith, they should read his book and not hold their breath for him to talk about this from now to November. They need to understand that he's not going to open up beyond the book excerpts and they'll have to live with that. People of faith are ready to listen to John McCain's personal faith story. Whether or not book excerpts get the job done is a big question mark.
Obama Cover-up Revealed On Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Bill - New documents just obtained by the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) prove that Senator Obama has for the past four years blatantly misrepresented his actions on the Illinois Born-Alive Infants Protection bill. Douglas Johnson, NRLC spokesman, explains: "Newly obtained documents prove that in 2003, Barack Obama, as chairman of an Illinois state Senate committee, voted down a bill to protect live-born survivors of abortion - even after the panel had amended the bill to contain verbatim language…explicitly foreclosing any impact on abortion." In 2000, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act (BAIPA) was first introduced in Congress. This was a two-paragraph bill intended to clarify that any baby who is entirely expelled from his or her mother, and who shows any signs of life, is to be regarded as a legal "person" for all federal law purposes, whether or not the baby was born during an attempted abortion. Addressing the oxymoron 'pro-abortion Catholic' American Life League president Judie Brown discusses the growing reality of pro-abortion Catholics among elected officials.
The 'Making Abortion Rare' Hoax by David Limbaugh - ABC reports that the group "Democrats for Life," whose title gives new meaning to "oxymoronic," decided last week not to press the Democratic Party to restore a life-tolerant "conscience clause" to its party platform. Isn't it time the party quit this charade that it wants to make abortion "rare"?
Anything but fairness Shortly before it recessed, the House passed the inaptly named “Paycheck Fairness Act.” This bill so dramatically amends the Fair Pay Act of 1963 that it should be called “The Small Business Destruction Act.” Under current law, it is permissible for an employer to give male and female employees different compensation so long as the difference is based on “a factor other than sex.” Not so under the scheme devised by House Democrats. Under the new law, an employer would be liable for any difference in pay between male and female employees, unless the employer can show that a “legitimate” business reason exists for the differential, and, furthermore, that no “alternative employment practice” could prevent the differential. Democrats don’t want the employer and the labor market to make compensation decisions. Instead, they prefer that plaintiffs’ lawyers, the courts and juries decide what compensation is proper. It gets worse. This law applies to virtually all employers, even businesses with as few as two employees. Employers would be liable, even if they did not intend to discriminate. Moreover, they face unlimited compensatory and punitive damages. This legislation, which Pelosi calls a “common-sense” measure, is a dream come true for the radical feminists who think wrongly that all wage disparities between men and women are the result of sex discrimination. It’s also a boon for trial lawyers—and a nightmare for the rest of us. Thankfully, the bill faces substantial opposition in the Senate, and President George W. Bush has vowed a veto.
Campaign watch: Lots of nonsense Barack Obama, as expected, has declined John McCain’s offer to participate in a series of 10 town hall meetings this fall. Obama, no doubt wondering how he would coherently expound upon “change we can believe in” when put on the spot by audience members, has committed only to the three debates scheduled by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Income Redistribution: Emergency Obama Exhibiting a depth of economic knowledge reminiscent of a cookie sheet, Barack “Tire Gauge” Obama released a six-page policy paper to pass for a serious “emergency economic plan,” otherwise known as income confiscation and redistribution. One part of his plan would extort billions of dollars in what he considers “windfall profits” from America’s oil companies over the next five years to pay for another one-time stimulus check ($500 for individuals or $1,000 for families) to offset the rising costs of energy this winter. Big Oil is a handy target for Obama, given, for example, ExxonMobil’s recent $11-billion quarterly profit announcement. But economist Mark Perry points out that Exxon’s tax bill this year ($61.7 billion for the first half of 2008) will outstrip the entire tax contribution of the lower 50 percent of all American wage earners. Furthermore, Exxon’s profit margin was only 10 percent—not at all out of line with most businesses and not exactly a “windfall.” (In a bit of unwelcome news for Obama this week, the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics noted that his campaign has received more money from Exxon employees, $42,000 to $35,166, than the McCain campaign. Obama also received more money from Chevron and BP. So much for the Demos’ too-clever new website, “Exxon-McCain ‘08.”) The other portion of Obama’s plan would set up both a $25-billion fund to help struggling state governments address their own budget deficits and a $25-billion boost for the federal highway trust fund. It’s less clear from where that $50 billion in revenue shifting will emanate. Naturally, Obama’s plan lacks the specifics regarding which states and projects will benefit, but given that much of it will go to states that are in a deficit situation, his plan would reward states engaging in reckless spending while providing no help for spendthrift states. As usual with Big Government, no good deed (or success story) will go unpunished.
Americans United Fights to Have Crosses Removed from Utah Highways - Americans United for the Separation of Church and State is asking the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to overturn a lower-court ruling that allows memorial crosses along Utah highways, claiming state-endorsed religion is being forced onto the public. In November, a district judge ruled the Utah Highway Patrol Association could continue to place 12-foot crosses along the highway to pay tribute to officers killed in the line of duty. The Alliance Defends Fund (ADF) represented the group. “It’s ridiculous that a small group … would seek to stop the families of slain troopers from honoring their loved ones,” ADF senior counsel Byron Babione said at the time of the lower-court ruling. "The memorials signify the service and death of an officer, and such memorials should not be censored based on the hurt feelings of passersby.”
Will Our Next President Protect Our Second Amendment Rights? - As you know, the Supreme Court recently ruled that the Second Amendment guarantees an individual right. While this is great news, this ruling is only as good as a future Supreme Court allows it to be. The work of five Supreme Court justices today can very easily be undone if the current balance of the court tips by one or more anti-gun justices tomorrow--especially if those justices were to be nominated by an anti-gun President and sent to an anti-gun Senate for confirmation! It is expected that our next President may have the opportunity to appoint one, two, or maybe even three Supreme Court Justices!
Breaking the mold: Why there is only one Sheriff Joe Arpaio Paul A. Ibbetson - Recently, I had the unique opportunity to interview the man the media calls the "Toughest Sheriff in America," Sheriff Joe Arpaio, on my radio show the Conscience of Kansas. It was an extremely dynamic interview, and I invite people to listen to both part one and part two of the show in its entirety. My goal going into the interview was to acquire some insights into one of the nation's most interesting law enforcement officers to pin on the badge. I also had a secondary question of my own to satisfy, and that was, can the Arpaio system of law enforcement be duplicated across this country? In my quest to satisfy these questions, I believe that I discovered a few interesting characteristics about the man from Arizona who designs pink underwear for his prisoners. The creator of Tent City, where prisoners live an austere life of no-frill labor on the once abandoned chain gangs, Arpaio projects the image of the no-nonsense dispenser of justice. However, if one looks at the inner scheme of Arpaio's operation, it becomes apparent that what appears to be simply "tough justice" is, in fact, a very psychologically constructed design for the purpose of deterring future offenders. Simply put, Arpaio's programs of deterrents, such as the hotel "vacancy" signs at Tent City, are products of a carefully considered plan and should not be sold short as simply brute fear mongering.
High abortion rate worries NY experts Higher cost and health complications lead to concerns - In most of the United States, 24 abortions are carried out for every 100 live births. In New York, 72 abortions occur for every 100 live births. The continuing boom in abortions—90,157 were performed in the city in 2006, the last year for which statistics are available—apparently means that many women are using abortion as their birth control method of choice. That concerns health advocates, who point out that the procedure sometimes causes complications and is more expensive than contraception. The high rate also shows that these women are not protected against AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
Why I Am Not a Liberal by Dennis Prager - The following is a list of beliefs that I hold. Nearly every one of them was a liberal position until the late 1960s. Not one of them is now. Such a list is vitally important in order to clarify exactly what positions divide left from right, blue from red, liberal from conservative.

Indoctrination: "Mainstream" Media & Education? - (Education?) The good, the bad, and the ugly...Without a Heritage every generation starts over Will our descendants know moral virtue? The primary responsibility of education DOES NOT belong to schools. (Deuteronomy 6:5-7)
"A trained intelligence can do much, but there is no substitute for morality, character and religious conviction." President Calvin Coolidge
"Knowledge unenlightened by the truth of God is dark knowledge. We may have a B.S., an M.S., and a Ph.D., but without the Lord all we have is dark information. It may help navigate us in the world of darkness, but by itself will never lead us to the truth. Apart from the revelation of the Spirit of God, none of us could ever find our way into the light. Darkly educated people are like those whom Paul described to his young protégé', Timothy, as 'always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.'" More Reasons Than Ever to Leave Public Schools "The California Legislature has just passed a bill (AB 2567) to require public schools to celebrate homosexuality, bisexuality, and transsexuality," said Thomasson. "Existing state laws require the positive portrayal of alternative lifestyles (SB 777, AB 394) and the abolition of moral values on sexual matters in public schools (SB 71). Since the government schools are imploding, now is the time to discover the rewards of home schools and church schools. On average, homeschooled children succeed academically and develop better character than kids in the government system." Campaign for Children and Families has set up a special web site, RescueYourChild.org, to help parents learn how to homeschool or enroll in a church school.

"Politically Correct" - (Politically Correct with PC dictionary) Examples and results of Political Correctness which means using unrighteous deception which lack Biblical Moral Virtue. Remove the Light (Jesus) and darkness (politically correct secular humanism) inevitably ensues.
First corrupt their young minds, then subject their health to the "natural" results of that corruption (as politicians, school administrators, judges, and worse, parents appease because of "political correctness.")
