Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness... Matthew 6 (We are to personally and individually seek FIRST the Kingdom of God AND His Righteousness ahead of all else including self and politics. This does not mean however we are to hide our Light or refrain from "reproving the world of sin." Imagine if the Christians who created our Republic did so.)
Did You Know? What our Founders had to say about the Bible.
"The Bible is the best of all books, for it is the word of God.... Continue therefore to read it and to regulate your life by its precepts." John Jay (1784)
"Religion is the only solid basis of good morals; therefore education should teach the precepts of religion and the duties of man towards God." Gouverneur Morris (1791)
"[W]here is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation deserts the oaths...?" George Washington (1796)
"Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." John Adams (1798)
"[T]he only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments." Benjamin Rush (1806)
(Note to secular humanist Democrats: Before inaccurately and inadequately dismissing these pages falsely as promoting theocracy, see Theocracy? Numerous blog discussions and commentaries have weakly dismissed the HISTORY presented here as promoting a theocracy as an excuse to escape and avoid the challenge to secular wisdom. BTW - What new and improved foundation do secular humanists use to justify violating "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God?")

Petition Supporting The Marriage Protection Amendment - See: California Federal Court Dismisses Challenge to Federal Defense of Marriage Act - Orange County, CA – During a court hearing yesterday, federal district court Judge David O. Carter announced that he is dismissing a last-ditch effort by "same-sex marriage" proponents to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). The case is Smelt v. Orange County, and it is one of the last remaining challenges to DOMA. Liberty Counsel intervened in this case on behalf of Campaign for California Families in 2004, in order to protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman and to defend DOMA. The federal DOMA allows states to reject same-sex marriages from other states.
Tell Congress, to start Lowering Our Gas Prices by Unlocking Our Resources! Recent polls show that the American public is unifying behind the concepts that high gas prices are the greatest threat to our economy and that the President and Congress need to permit offshore oil drilling, among other things, to help bring gas prices down. For example, in a mid-July survey 72% of adults said that the high price of gas is the biggest threat to our economy and 67% favored offshore oil drilling, while a late-June poll revealed that 49% were in favor of building nuclear power plants (only 31% against). As a result of the increasingly strident public outcry over high energy costs, a fiercely partisan battle over energy policy was raging in both houses of Congress in the weeks leading up to the August recess. Since Congress will reconvene right after Labor Day and remain in session for a month or so before adjourning again for the November elections, now is a good time to send your representative and senators the message "Congress, Start Lowering Our Gas Prices by Unlocking Our Energy Resources!" Send them this message, including some specific actions you expect them to take. Beware of the Senate's "gang of 10," bipartisan, compromise energy plan. This plan has been carefully designed to fool voters into believing that Congress is permitting extensive offshore drilling when in reality the bill only offers token offshore drilling, and no ANWR drilling, while increasing taxes on oil companies by tens of billions of dollars to subsidize development of alternative energy sources.
Tell Congress to Pass the "Fast Track Shale Act" The "Fast Track Shale Act" would open up U.S. federal lands that contain oil shale, cut red tape binding Bureau of Land Management (BLM) regulations for commercial development of this shale, and set in place new research and development that will help foster a better process of extracting this form of oil. BLM estimates that the oil shale-rich areas of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming alone hold 1.23 trillion barrels of oil. This oil would completely offset Saudi Arabia's 1.2 trillion barrels of known reserves -- making the United States independent of foreign oil all together!

News and commentary (News & Commentary)
'I know that human life begins at conception.' - Former Abortionist Dr. Bernard Nathanson is personally responsible for 75,000 abortions. He is the co-founder of NARAL — the National Abortion Rights Action League — and for years ran the largest abortion clinic in the world. Today, Nathanson is a leading life advocate and has traveled the world sharing his message through books, documentaries and lectures. "As a scientist, I know, not believe, know that human life begins at conception," he wrote in his book The Hand of God: A Journey from Death to Life.
Fiction: Domestic Drilling Won’t Have Impact for Ten Years or More Recent Moves toward Greater Domestic Drilling Have Dramatically Reduced Energy Prices in Just One Month - According to Senator Barack Obama and Congressional liberals, allowing more domestic drilling won’t have any impact on energy prices for ten years or more. That is incorrect. In the month since President Bush rescinded the executive order prohibiting drilling on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), the price of oil has already plummeted. From its record high of over $145 per barrel in July when Bush signed the order, the price has tumbled some 21% to $115 in one short month. This is because the market price for oil partially reflects future supply expectations. Accordingly, any movement toward reliable, secure, domestic sources of oil and gas sends the signal of increased future supply. This helps offset current uncertainties surrounding such volatile oil- and gas-producing areas as the Persian Gulf, Venezuela, Russia and Nigeria, thereby assuring energy markets of a more dependable flow of future energy. ...For more information: Dr. James Dobson spoke with Dr. Nathanson during a Focus on the Family radio broadcast.
Getting Government Out of the Way by Ed Feulner - It’s time, as they say, for some good news and some bad news. First, to get it out of the way, is the bad news: The unemployment rate last month climbed to 5.7 percent, the highest it’s been in four years. The good news is that our economy remains in good shape. It's still growing, and there's much we can do to help it grow even faster. The main thing, of course, is to get the government to stop interfering with entrepreneurs who are trying to work, build businesses and create jobs. One reason the unemployment rate is on the rise is because Congress raised the minimum wage. It was $5.15 an hour in 2007, has increased twice, and is set to reach $7.25 an hour next year. Not surprisingly, teenagers suffered the most of any age group last month. Teen unemployment jumped 2.2 percentage points. The jobless rate for teenagers is now 20.3 percent. Meanwhile, the rate for workers over 20 has increased, but only slightly. And for women over 20, the unemployment rate actually declined.
Illegal immigrants are returning home to Mexico in numbers not seen for decades — and the Mexican government may have to deal with a crush on its social services and lower wages once the immigrants arrive. The Mexican Consulate's office in Dallas is seeing increasing numbers of Mexican nationals requesting paperwork to go home for good, especially parents who want to know what documentation they'll need to enroll their children in Mexican schools. "Those numbers have increased percentage-wise tremendously," said Enrique Hubbard, the Mexican consul general in Dallas. "In fact, it's almost 100 percent more this year than it was the previous two years." The illegal immigrant population in the U.S. has dropped 11 percent since August of last year, according to the Center for Immigration Studies. Its research shows 1.3 million illegal immigrants have returned to their home countries. Some say illegal immigrants are leaving because a soft economy has led to fewer jobs, causing many laborers to seek work elsewhere. Others argue that a tough stance on immigration through law enforcement has spread fear throughout the illegal population.
Unions: What Works -- and What Doesn’t By Ed Feulner - Global competition for customers is fierce. Companies that don’t forge good relationships between employees and management are likely to be run out of business by those that do. Unfortunately, our labor laws make it tougher than it should be for management and workers to work together. One way to encourage a give-and-take attitude is through employee involvement programs, where workers and supervisors sit down together to discuss ways to improve business. That’s exactly the sort of organization many employees want, but there’s a problem. Many such groups are illegal.
31,000 scientists reject 'global warming' agenda 'Mr. Gore's movie has claims no informed expert endorses' - More than 31,000 scientists across the U.S. – including more than 9,000 Ph.D.s in fields such as atmospheric science, climatology, Earth science, environment and dozens of other specialties – have signed a petition rejecting "global warming," the assumption that the human production of greenhouse gases is damaging Earth's climate.

Calvin Coolidge - "We do not need more intellectual power, we need more moral power. We do not need more knowledge, we need more character. We do not need more government, we need more culture. We do not need more law, we need more religion. We do not need more of the things that are seen, we need more of the things that are unseen. If the foundation be firm, the foundation will stand."

Fake Christian Picks Fake Catholic for Vice Presidential Running Mate "Instead of picking a true Christian, Obama, a fake evangelical, has selected Biden, a fake Catholic" -- Dr. Gary Cass, Chairman and CEO of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission
Gay Activist Packs Message for Denver - One of the country's wealthiest gay activists is in Denver unveiling his national strategy. Tim Gill's message is to support pro-gay state lawmakers and eliminate the others. "Every advance in gay rights has been made at the state level," he said. "There is no example of something done at the federal level and then the states said, 'Gosh, we should have done that.'" (The 5 minute video with this piece is well worth seeing and understanding the "thief" and John 10:10).
New TV Ad to be Aired During DNC Convention by Florida Stealth 'Gay Rights' Group in Florida is Both Factually Wrong and Attempts to Deceive Democrat Voters - "This ad is just factually wrong and Red and Blue needs to be held accountable for false and misleading advertisements" said John Stemberger, State Chairman of Yes2Marriage.org the official sponsor of the Florida Marriage Protection Amendment. "To the contrary, the citizen initiated and citizen led Amendment 2 has nothing at all to do with government action. It has everything to do with citizen action stopping the government from redefining marriage against their will. Amendment 2 allows the people and not activist judges to decide how marriage will be defined in Florida. This is only the first of a series of ads in an avalanche of fraud and deception that is going to flood the airways in the October."
Faith Forum Peddles Social Propaganda from the Left by Tom Minnery, senior vice president, Focus Action - Liberals at Democratic convention ignore sin, redemption, salvation and personal responsibility. In the end, the Democrats weren’t even trying. Their well-hyped outreach to religious conservatives dribbled away in a thin soup of solutions that have long failed to solve social problems. The title of Tuesday’s Faith Forum at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Denver asked the question: “How can progressives and conservatives find common ground?” The answer: Apparently they can't. Moderator Jim Wallis of Sojourners cautioned his audience that God is neither Republican nor Democrat, but from that point on you’d have thought God had endorsed the entire social agenda of the political Left. Education? Stop teaching to the tests and emphasize critical thinking skills, said Rabbi Jack Moline, a panelist. He also prescribed affordable child care and early childhood education.
Round Up - All You Need to Know about the Democratic National Convention - By Tim Waggoner DNC begins with denunciation of abortion - The first "official event" of the 2008 Democratic Convention featured Pentecostal preacher Charles E. Blake of the Church of God in Christ, who took to the pulpit of an Interfaith Gathering that opened the convention. Blake unequivocally denounced abortion, saying God could not be pleased with millions of lives being ended by elective abortion. President of the pro-life National Clergy Council, Rev. Rob Schenck, who was present at the event, said, "This is an amazing development. Bishop Blake was crystal clear in condemning abortion. There was nothing subtle about it. He identified himself as a pro-life Democrat and blatantly challenged his party's historic position on abortion. He also challenged Barack Obama to pursue his promise to reduce abortions and to ensure 'viable' alternatives. Just this one moment is a significant turn for the Democratic Party." Clinton tells America to remember the children when voting for pro-aborts Obama and Biden Yesterday, during her address to the audience at the DNC, Hilary Clinton told Americans to reflect on the future of their children on November 4th and vote for widespread abortion advocate Obama. After ardently endorsing Obama as well as VP running mate Joe Biden in her speech at the DNC, saying, the two pro-aborts "will be a great team for our country," Clinton invoked Americans to "think about your children and grandchildren come Election Day." "Nothing less than the fate of our nation and the future of our children hang in the balance," she continued. Source: The Guardian
Opinion: Obama is Fit to Be Commander-in-Chief The following is submitted by Gary McCullough, director of Christian Newswire: Barack Obama is a proven and consistent leader in the war against children in the womb. His dedication to funding and fighting this war has never wavered. He has never voted against a weapons system to kill children in the womb. His ability to stand against his own Democratic Party and support partial-birth abortion defines Obama as a maverick. There is little debate over the fact that each and every soldier in this war, America's abortion providers, supports the election of Obama, and those that can afford to do so, donate only to Obama's campaign.

Thomas Sowell - "Senator John McCain could never convince me to vote for him. Only Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama can cause me to vote for McCain." ...“Obama is being hailed as the newest and freshest face on the American political scene. But he is advocating some of the oldest fallacies, just as if it was the 1960s again, or as if he has learned nothing and forgotten nothing since then... But politics is not about facts. It is about what politicians can get people to believe.”
Consider these issues and it will become blatantly obvious what Biblical moral virtue each candidate possess: Abortions, God's design of marriage, unequal, unnatural Rights, Second Amendment, "living" Constitution, U.S. sovereignty and noble power, War on Terror, Border, Illegal Immigration, Unions, NEA and government-run education, taxes, "sustainable development." government-run health care...
Is It Time To Elect A President Who Appreciates Communism? by Austin Hill - Barack Hussein Obama Sr., Senator Obama’s father, was a bureaucrat in the communist government of Kenya back in the 1960’s. And while Kenya’s government was embarking upon a pro-Western revolution and an embrace of free-market economic reforms, Obama staunchly opposed the changes, and sought to push Kenya in a more solidly communist direction. According to research done at Investor’s Business Daily, Obama Sr. wrote in 1965 to Kenya’s then-President Jomo Kenyatta, advising against relying on private investors, who inevitably earn “dividends,” to help sustain the country’s troubled economy. Instead, he proposed higher taxes on the wealthy, and a redistribution of that money, for the collective good of the nation. “Theoretically, there is nothing that can stop the government from taxing 100% of income,” Mr. Obama wrote, “so long as the people get benefits from the government commensurate with their income which is taxed.” In the view of Barack Hussein Obama Sr., the right of the individual person to work, earn, and invest, meant nothing. All that mattered was the “collective good” of the nation. And if stealing some people’s hard-earned wealth could help benefit “everyone,” then so be it.
Peggy Noonan - “You know why they call it birth control? Because it’s meant to stop a birth from happening nine months later. We know when life begins. Everyone who ever bought a pack of condom knows when life begins. To put it another way, with conception something begins. What do you think it is? A car? A 1948 Buick?”
Obama-Biden:
Marching in Liberal Lockstep - Most of what voters hear about Senator
Biden comes from his work on his two committees. Therefore, less is known of
his positions on domestic policy, such as economics, health care, social
issues, etc. Biden is in fact one of the most liberal members of the Senate,
with the non-partisan National Journal raking him the third most liberal
Senator (behind Barack Obama and Sheldon Whitehouse, and ahead of the
self-avowed socialist, Bernie Sanders.) He ties several Senators as the most
liberal on economic issues and has by far the most liberal voting record on
foreign policy matters. ...On taxes, Biden wants to “direct tax cuts away from
the very rich to the middle class” and “expand the Earned Income Tax Credit”.
In other words, he supports raising taxes on those who already pay almost all
the income taxes collected in order to transfer money to those who pay little
or no income tax. Biden is a strong supporter of unions (and they are a strong
supporter of him), including supporting “Card Check”, the unions’ attempt to
eliminate the secret ballot requirement to unionize a company’s workers. In
case Biden’s anti-business credentials weren’t clear, Biden has said that he
“will make sure that pro-union officials play senior roles at the Departments
of Commerce, State, Agriculture, Homeland Security and Health and Human
Services.”
Catholic group denounces Obama's pick of Biden for V.P. The Roman Catholic group, Fidelis, says Barack Obama's selection of pro-abortion Catholic Joe Biden to be his V.P. running mate " is a slap in the face to Catholic voters" and poses a major challenge for American Catholics.

Joe Biden, friend of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps - Sen. Joe Biden – Barack Obama’s eagerly anticipated running mate – should be named an honorary soldier in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). We’re all familiar with the IRGC: Iran’s unique corps of Islamist fighters who have been directly involved in deadly attacks against U.S. soldiers in Iraq – even Afghanistan – threatening our ships in the Persian Gulf; and organizing, training, equipping, funding, and providing direct operational support to Lebanon-based Hezbollah (perhaps the most dangerous terrorist army on earth). And that’s just for starters. ...On September 26, 2007, Biden voted “Nay” to Senate Amendment 3017 (S. Amdt. 3017) – a piece of legislation amending S. Amdt. 2011 to H.R. 1585 – “to express the sense of the Senate regarding Iran.” In a nutshell, S. Amdt. 3017 called on the Senate to: “Support the prudent and calibrated use of all instruments of United States national power in Iraq, including diplomatic, economic, intelligence, and military instruments, in support of the policy … with respect to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies.” And most importantly – for the sake of sanctions and the unequivocal denial of any form of support to terrorists and terrorist supporters – the amendment said, “the United States should designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps as a foreign terrorist organization … and place the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on the list of Specially Designated Global Terrorists.”
The Democrats' Gun Owner-Bashing YouTube Moment by Michelle Malkin July 25, 2007 (GOPUSA.com) Sen. Joe Biden is the embodiment of snide. What Does This Book Say About Obama’s Political And Legislative Philosophy? - Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) has introduced the Global Poverty Act, which will impose a U.N. tax upon every American in an effort to reduce global poverty by the year 2015. The Global Poverty Act (S. 2433) was rushed through Sen. Joseph Biden’s Senate Foreign Relations Committee without hearings in February 2008. If passed and signed into law, it would force the U.S. to spent 0.7% of its gross national product on U.N.-run poverty programs around the world. This would amount to a 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends on poverty programs by the year 2015. ...The promotion of an American-taxpayer funded, but U.N.-controlled poverty program by Sen. Obama makes one wonder where he got his political ideas. His own biography provides clues. The following quotes have been culled from presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama’s book, Dreams From My Father.

Kerry will debate Democratic challenger The Associated Press -- Sen. John Kerry is going to debate his Democratic re-election opponent after all. Negotiators for Kerry and Gloucester attorney Edward O'Reilly agreed Friday to a single debate before the Sept. 16 primary. Tentative plans call for it to be moderated by WBZ-TV political analyst Jon Keller, says Kerry spokeswoman Brigid O'Rourke. Kerry has not faced a primary challenger since his first Senate campaign in 1984. O'Reilly has proposed 23 debates but Kerry balked by citing his official and campaign schedules. If the 2004 Democratic presidential nominee wins the primary, he'll square off for his fifth term against Republican Jeff Beatty, a Cape Cod businessman and former Army Delta Force member.
Clarity - and Unity -- on Abortion The abortion issue dominated news coverage of the Presidential campaign last week right up to the dramatic weekend news about Barack Obama's choice of running mate. On Saturday John McCain devoted his weekly radio address to the issue and made possibly the longest statement on the issue of his public career. McCain recapped Obama's now-famous remark at Pastor Rick Warren's Civic Forum that it was "above my pay grade" to say when an unborn child's human rights deserve protection. McCain went on, "Americans expect more of their leaders . . . [Obama's] extreme advocacy in favor of partial-birth abortion and his refusal to provide medical care for babies surviving abortion should be of grave concern to reasonable people of goodwill on both sides of this issue. There is a growing consensus in America that we need to overcome narrow partisanship on this issue for both women in need and the unborn. We need more of the compassion and moral idealism that my opponent's own party, at its best, once stood for. No one is above the law, and no one is beneath its protection." McCain's call for compassion and moral idealism on the sanctity of human life does transcend political categories and is a welcome addition to the debate.

While Their Peers Embrace Immorality, Princeton Students Stand Strong - Young adults are more likely than their elders to engage in behaviors considered morally inappropriate, according to a recent Barna Group survey of 1,003 adults. During a typical week, 38 percent of those younger than 25 engaged in sex outside of marriage, 33 percent viewed pornography and 25 percent got drunk. Robert George, a professor at Princeton University, appeared on the Glenn Beck Show on Friday to discuss the moral challenges facing college students. He was joined by four of his students who are members of the Anscombe Society, a student-led abstinence club. "What's impressive about Princeton is that so many students have been involved in actively opposing the hookup culture," he said. "Promiscuity is not a good way to live. It's not a healthy way to live. It's not a morally healthy way to live. And the students here have been willing to make that argument … not only to their fellow students but to the administration."

Random Thoughts by Thomas Sowell - There are countries in Europe that would love to have their unemployment rate fall to the 5.7 percent unemployment rate to which ours has risen. Yet those who seem to want us to imitate European economic and social policies never seem to want to consider the actual consequences of those policies. ...When we hear about rent control or gun control, we may think about rent or guns but the word that really matters is "control." That is what the political left is all about, as you can see by the incessant creation of new restrictions in places where they are strongly entrenched in power, such as San Francisco or New York. ...The recent death of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn should make us recall what he said when he was awarded the Nobel Prize: "The timid civilized world has found nothing with which to oppose the onslaught of a sudden revival of barefaced barbarity, other than concessions and smiles." What would a Barack Obama presidency mean, other than more concessions and broader smiles, while Iran goes nuclear? ...At one time, it was said "The truth will make you free." Today, there seem to be those who think that rhetoric and hype will make you free. It might even be called the audacity of hype.

Exodus Launches New Ministry for Women - Exodus International, the world's largest Christian outreach to those affected by homosexuality, is launching a new ministry aimed at helping women embrace their faith and God-given femininity. Exodus, which has helped both men and women for more than 32 years, is trying to reach more women. Currently, 40 percent of those who seek their help are women. Heading up the initiative is Yvette Schneider, a former policy analyst for the Family Research Council. She said she hopes to communicate biblical, compassionate truth to women who feel overlooked by society and are often afraid to seek help from the Church. "The Christian Church must be a place that powerfully conveys compassionate truth to hurting women," Schneider said. "My goal is to help more women find real hope and help as they journey towards wholeness in their femininity in Christ, and to equip others to do the same."

It's Time For Some Real Changes! - Terry Somerville - Well, this is the first breath of fresh air I've breathed since the Lakeland mess began. Peter Wagner sent out an email yesterday (see below) with more (not surprising) news, about Todd Bentley. We pray for a genuine restoration. As leaders who have ourselves struggled with temptation, and been exalted by others because God has used them I really mean that! Now the good news. What's refreshing is that finally there's up front dealing with sin, real love and submission. No more putting a man on a pedestal! Thanks John Arnott and Peter Wagner for treating Todd as a brother in the Lord needing love and restoration, and not some sort of god! This is good for Todd and the whole Body Of Christ. Let me say, however, I don't believe the whole "apostolic network hierarchy" is why this is working. It's not found in the New Testament anyway, and we risk descending into another man made system. What I see here is simple. These leaders are doing what we all should be doing! "Love one another"; Submit yourself one to another" ; "Confess your sins one to another". When mature Christians (elders in the faith) set the example the church will follow. Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Galatians 6:1
