Tony Evans: Vote should reflect 'Kingdom values' A well-known preacher and Bible teacher says Christians must vote according to Kingdom values, instead of the world's values. Tony Evans recently released a four-part series on how Christians should vote. That series encouraged believers to vote for the party, platform, and person that best reflects the Kingdom of God.
"You have to put those three together and then align them to the Kingdom of
God...so some people are going to highlight certain issues, whereas they will be
different than other people, but still you're thinking Kingdom," he points out. Evans
points out that neither Republicans nor Democrats have a monopoly on Kingdom
values. That is why the Texas pastor says it is important for the body of Christ
to be united after the election, no matter the outcome.
"Our good deeds, along with our good words, will say more than our political
bantering. So if we can engage in something that is for the common good, but at
the same time does not compromise our biblical values, that is what we should be
engaging in," he continues. "[A]nd then we give reason for men to glorify our
Father who is in Heaven, because of the good work we are collectively doing."
Dr. Evans points to the
Church Adopt a School Initiative
which teaches churches how to partner with public schools -- an effort he says
has helped transform more than 60 schools in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and is
spreading nationwide.

Tell the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to defend conscience rights for health care workers. - Beat Planned Parenthood and Defend Conscience Rights September 18, 2008 | Refer a Friend HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt is proposing regulations to enforce current laws that protect the conscience rights of health care workers. Congress has passed three laws (Church Amendments, Coats Amendment, and the Hyde/Weldon Amendment) over the past 35 years protecting such rights; however, no regulations have ever been implemented. If issued, the proposed regulations would ensure that health care workers in programs that receive federal funds, including federal, state and local government programs, do not discriminate against health care workers who object to participating in such practices as abortion and sterilization. We need you to submit public comments to HHS in support of regulations to enforce current law because groups like Planned Parenthood have supplied thousands of comments to HHS opposing any regulations that protect doctors, nurses, pharmacists or others' conscience. But they should do so on their own, not with the backing of millions of reluctant citizens' paychecks. If troubled institutions seek relief, they should restructure their businesses the way millions of families have had to restructure their budgets, rather than bellying up to Congress' trough. Bailouts that keep mismanaged organizations afloat delay natural corrections to unsound business practices. Malpractice in Massachusetts: How Bay State Policy Undermines Health Reform - This three-year political deal was a promise with a heavy price tag — $200 million the first year, declining by $20 million each year thereafter. In spite of the reform’s intent, Bay State politicians — through a now-infamous “hold harmless” provision — sought to continue direct Medicaid payments with the sole intent of protecting the profits of their political friends. By continuing to pay out more than it should in direct subsidies to hospitals, Massachusetts is now in a $150 million budget bind that recently became the justification for new, unnecessary taxes on businesses. And in negotiations with federal officials over its waiver renewal, the state is asking for more federal money to help solve a budget problem it created entirely on its own. ...Now, no one questions the importance of serving hungry people on the streets of Boston. But that’s not what the Massachusetts health reform was about or what Medicaid dollars are for. BMC’s implication is that the city of Boston, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the federal government will let people go hungry unless federal taxpayers are coerced to fork over more cash to its institution. Sure, BMC has made a considerable investment expanding its facilities in recent years. But what’s next, defending the payments as a means of mitigating the housing crisis? If Massachusetts politicians want to continue CHA’s and BMC’s special, direct subsidies with state and local dollars, that’s their choice. But they should have to justify it to their constituents. Federal taxpayers should not be required to deliver on the Bay State’s political promises.
ABC Highlights 'Anything but Helpful' Government Healthcare 'Mess' 'Good Morning America' reports on faulty Medicare hotline. - Being a healthcare provider is already difficult when your client base is made up of mostly seniors. But for Medicare the difficulties are even worse because it is a government agency and needs to operate in the midst of “repeated changes in executive management, cumbersome government procure ment and management rules and the vagaries of congressional oversight.” In a speech April 29, Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt spoke at a Medicare forum at the Newseum saying, “Time is running out. Medicare is drifting towards disaster.” Leavitt said that the real problems will begin between now and 2019 when the Medicare Hospital Insurance Trust Fund is projected to become “insolvent,” because there is no backup plan to ensure hospitals keep getting paid after that. In 2005, The Heritage Foundation listed Medicare funding as one of their top 10 examples of government waste. “Medicare wastes more money than any other federal program, yet its strong public support leaves lawmakers hesitant to address program effi ciencies,” said a Heritage policy paper written April 4, 2005 by Brian M. Riedl. According to Riedl, Medicare paid as much as eight times what other federal agencies paid for the same drugs and medical supplies back then. After a study was conducted by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) comparing 16 types of medical equipment and supplies used by both Medicare and the Veterans Affairs (VA) health care program, it was found that Medicare paid an average of more than double what the VA paid for the same items.
ACORN Sprouts Voter Fraud – Group Has Ties To Obama Campaign - The Association of Community Organizations for Reform (ACORN), is, once again, involved in voter fraud across the country. ACORN is a socialist group that is an out-growth of New Left politics. The latest scandal involves voter fraud in Detroit, Michigan, where clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration forms submitted by ACORN.According to the Detroit Free Press, the Michigan Secretary of State’s office is receiving complaints from all over the state. The Secretary has turned the phony applications over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for investigation. ACORN has branches in 100 cities and claims 350,000 families as members. ACORN has a long history of engaging in voter fraud in all 50 states. In the 2006 election cycle, ACORN engaged in fraud in St. Louis, Missouri andKansas City, Missouri. In Kansas City, more than 15,000 registrations were questionable. Four ACORN employees had submitted these 15,000 fraudulent forms with fake names and addresses. ACORN workers have been convicted in Wisconsin and Colorado and investigations were launched in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Tennessee. ...In addition, when Obama was a community organizer in Chicago, he actually helped train ACORNstaff members. National Review author Stanley Kurtz published a detailed expose on the Obama-ACORN connection in May, 2008.According to Kurtz, Obama’s connection to ACORN is long and deep. “Obama not only sought and received the endorsement of ACORN’S political arm in his local campaigns, he recently accepted ACORN’S endorsement for the presidency, in pursuit of which he reminded Acorn officials of his long-standing ties to the group.” said Kurtz. One Chicago-based ACORN leader revealed these deep ties in “Case Study: Chicago – The Barack Obama Campaign” inSocial Policy. Writer Toni Foulkes says that Obama helped train a cadre of Chicago’s ACORN leaders. According to Obama: “I’ve been fighting alongside ACORN on issues you care about my entire career.” (Steven Malanga, “Organizer in Chief,”City Journal, Summer, 2008).

Income Redistribution: Patriotic taxes “We want to take money [from the wealthy] and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people,” Democrat vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said in an interview this week on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Talking about the “fundamental differences” between Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin, Biden said that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more taxes. “It’s time to be patriotic... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut.” Memo to Joe: The forced redistribution of wealth is socialism, not patriotism. Also, your memory must be failing you. Bill Clinton raised taxes, resulting in lower federal revenue, while George W. Bush lowered taxes, resulting in higher federal revenue. As Barack Obama said in April, however, he wouldn’t raise taxes to increase revenue, but “for the purposes of fairness.” By which he means sticking it to “the rich,” a category that includes most of the small-business owners who generate the majority of our nation’s jobs. Biden released his tax returns this week. The unfortunate man is one of the poorest members of the Senate, having claimed a paltry $248,754 in income in 2007. What is likely more important is that his donations to charity average out to about $2 per week. Compared to the charitable giving of McCain (27 percent) and even Obama (five percent), Biden comes off as a cheapskate—at least with his money. Strange, but this story has somehow escaped Leftmedia analysis. Predictably, they just spit out some of Biden’s income numbers and then turned on GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, who has not disclosed her income tax returns. At least Biden’s $995 in charitable giving last year was more than Al Gore’s $353 in 1997. Liberals just walking the walk...

is no substance to the allegations. Now the
campaign has failed to respond to my rejoinder, and except for some minor
changes that will be made in the next printing of the book, I assume the Obama
campaign agrees that my rejoinder arguments were convincing. Moreover, I assume
the Obama campaign took its best shot with "Unfit for Publication," refuting
every point in "The Obama Nation" that the Obama campaign considered false. The
result here is the chapter-by-chapter arguments from "The Obama Nation" that
were not disputed in "Unfit for Publication." Because the Obama campaign did not
even attempt to refute these substantive arguments, I now assume the Obama
campaign is conceding their truth.

YouTube Yanks Video Exposing Obama's Abortion Extremism - Operation Rescue posts the video that YouTube does not want the public to see. A video exposing Sen. Barack Obama's extremist support for abortion that was produced by a Kansas pro-life group as been blocked by YouTube.com yesterday. The Kansas Coalition for Life, which partners with Operation Rescue on a number of pro-life projects, produced a video titled "Obama: WRONG Change for Children," which included information about Obama's voting record on abortion- related bills. YouTube sent the group a generic message indicating that the video was being blocked because it did not meet a "Community Guideline." "The video is in no way distasteful, pornographic or outside of the ordinary," said KCFL Director Mark Gietzen. "It does however make a strong point, and we feel that it was pulled ONLY because it makes a simple, clear statement about what Obama's change is all about." ..."Political censorship is the only remaining explanation for YouTube blocking the KCFL Obama video," said Operation Rescue spokesperson Cheryl Sullenger. "Apparently, it is allowable to criticize political candidates on YouTube, as long as you do not criticize Obama on his abortion track record. 'ViewTube' a home-schooling resource A new networking and teaching tool for home schoolers by home schoolers has hit cyberspace. Computer specialist and home-school dad Ed Wells recently launched the website The site is "YouTube-ish" in design, and visitors can create free networking profiles and upload videos. First of all, Wicca is a very community- oriented religion. As our culture becomes more and more isolated and busy, and as real relationships are replaced by texting, IM, etc., young people are starving for real relationships and true community, as well as for a powerful experience of faith. People want a supernatural experience.
