Fact ##45: It's a Liberal White House, by George! In 2003, billionaire George Soros came up with the idea to form a liberal alternative to the conservative Heritage Foundation. While the Leftist staffed the Center for American Progress (CAP) with former Clinton administration employees, they have heavy influence with the Obama administration, including a role in guiding the Obama transition team and loaning out staff to join President Obama's administration. At least one of CAP's employees was so controversial that he was compelled to step down: Van Jones, President Obama's nominee for "green czar," had close ties to Marxist and other radical groups and theories. After leaving the administration, Mr. Jones rejoined CAP. Former Sen. Tom Daschle, a lobbyist on the staff of CAP, was in line to become President Obama's Secretary of Health and Human Services but withdrew his name after records showed he was negligent in his taxes. After returning to the lobbying world, Sen. Daschle continued to advise White House and congressional leaders on the issue of health care--despite the conflict of interest.

A major left-wing propaganda attack group funded by billionaire George Soros has begun aggressively targeting MassResistance because of our exposure of Kevin Jennings, Obama's "safe-schools" czar and his activities pushing homosexuality on schoolchildren.

Media Matters is headed by David Brock, an ex-conservative writer (and "out" homosexual) who now professes his hatred for conservatism and conservatives. Media Matters has a large staff and millions of dollars per year in funding.

The group's purported mission is to be a "rapid-response" site that "informs" the mainstream media on bias. But more precisely, Media Matters' true mission is to viciously discredit any non-liberal discourse with a flood of distortions, rumors, and outright lies. Their targets have ranged from Fox News to conservative news reporters and radio commentators.

George Soros Funding New Liberal Advocacy Group (2/10/2008) Billionaire financier George Soros is contributing $2.5 million to a new political organization that promotes Democratic causes in the 2008 elections. A year-end campaign report filed with the IRS and uncovered by The New York Times confirmed an earlier Newsmax report disclosing that the group, Fund for America, was organized by Taco Bell heir Rob McKay, former Clinton White House Chief of Staff John Podesta, and Anna Burger of the Service Employees International Union. The SEIU matched Soros’ contribution. Newsmax reported in November that the liberal activists had joined forces to form the so-called 527 group — named for a section of the tax code that allows such an organization to attempt to influence elections as long as it discloses donors and expenses. Fund for America is expected to air television ads and take other political action designed to help Democrats win the White House and retain control of Congress, Andrew Malcolm of the Los Angeles Times reported. The organization will also focus on direct mail and door-to-door canvassing.

There Goes the Neighborhood The heartland is poised to get some religious heartburn, courtesy of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and mega-donor George Soros. The organization best known for suing its way to Christian suppression has its eyes on some prime conservative real estate in its $335 million local expansion. Knowing that the biggest battles may soon be fought on the smallest scales, these agents of social injustice plan to "build a civil liberties infrastructure in the middle of the country," bringing with it a radical agenda of homosexual rights, unlimited abortion, the extinction of the traditional family, and secularism. Hoping to add new offices in the battleground states of Michigan, Texas, Florida, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, New Mexico, and Tennessee, the ACLU has already raised the majority of the funding needed to accomplish its national campaign. With overflowing bank accounts, taxpayer dollars from attorney fees in Establishment Clause cases, and offices in key red states, the ACLU will be a formidable force. The organization's executive director, Anthony Romero, wasn't coy about the far Left's intent. "If Republicans lose control of Congress and the White House, we can be sure the religious right will be much more active on the state level--our work will be critical there." By "our work," Romero must have been referring to the ACLU's efforts to persecute Christians and bully Americans into abandoning their moral beliefs. Now that Soros aims on bringing legal intimidation to our backyards, it is vital that we respond by stepping up our efforts.

According to some excellent reporting by Politico.com, a rather frightening meeting took place here in New York City two nights ago. Billionaire far-left zealot George Soros had a dinner in his Manhattan home that included Clinton confidante Paul Begala and the vicious character assassin David Brock, who runs Media Matters. Apparently, these three are starting an organization called Progressive Media USA. Now as we reported last week, a number of organizations are set up to attack John McCain, including this new Progressive Media deal. As much as $350 million could be spent vilifying McCain. I believe this is evil. There are two ironies here. First, the Swift Boat deal back in 2004 where some conservatives hammered John Kerry is the model for the Soros smear machine. And second, if not for the McCain-Feingold law, which led to the creation of these vile MoveOn type organizations, McCain might not have to deal with this garbage. Memo to everybody: Be careful what you wish for. As I wrote extensively in my book "Culture Warrior," George Soros wants to buy America, and he is close. Years ago, Soros helped create MoveOn, and now it is a major fundraiser for Barack Obama. Hired character assassin Brock makes hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Who pays his salary? We'll look at this flow chart. Soros distributed big money to a variety of far-left outfits. And then the cash, some of it anyway, flows into Brock's organization Media Matters. Things are set up this way so Soros can say he does not directly fund the vicious media site. Same thing with the new Progressive Media USA outfit. Because it's a 501(c)(4) for non-profit group, donors can be kept secret. Thus, Soros can spend as much cash as he wants to smear McCain, and nobody will know about it. This, ladies and gentlemen, is ultra dangerous. Most Americans have no idea who Soros or Brock are. They will only know what they see on TV, smear stuff against McCain. And the pipeline extends directly to NBC News, which will publicize every piece of slime Brock can create. Only one word describes this: despicable. Barack Obama and John McCain have both said they don't want a dirty campaign, but they can do nothing to stop Soros. He has the power here. It'd be nice if Senators Obama and McCain denounce Soros and Brock, but I'm not counting on that. Also, Politico and others are reporting that Obama has an association with two former far-left radicals, William Ayers and Bernadette Dohrn. They are members of the Weather Underground, a violent 1960s protest group. They now teach college in Chicago, and apparently the senator has socialized with them. So all in all, the radical left is playing a role in the next presidential election. And we will keep a close eye on this situation for you. And that's "The Memo."

The same man who said he "chose America as his home because he values freedom and democracy" has likened our country to Nazi Germany. George Soros, the financial backbone of radical liberals like Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA), told reporters this weekend that "America needs to follow the policies it has introduced in Germany. We have to go through a certain deNazification process." Despite the fact that these comments were made to the press corps, the media has largely ignored them. Only the New Republic fires back, condemning Soros for comparing President Bush to Hilter. "Characterizing the U.S. under Bush as Nazi...casts a shadow over U.S. politics." Soros has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).), but has also said he could support Hillary Clinton (D-NY). I went and read some articles -George Soros, HUngarian JewISH multi Billioniare, has set his money and influence to oust President Bush. He funded the legalizing of drugs in CA - I think he started off meaning well, had a vision for an open society- he meant not controlled like Nazism or Comunism which he lived under. But he had found that over the years that he can control governments by giving money and dealing in the currencies, and impose his own system, not directly but indirectly through supporting big time the groups that he agrees with and who will speak for him- kinda like puppets. He helped legalize drugs in CA. He did make about 2 billion in one week- by betting against the English pound, He became known as "the man who broke the Bank of England." But God can cause him to unmake ( lose) that same amount in a day. We are all only kept by the grace of God. I think he sees Bush as being totalitarian because of his Christian beliefs and he sees that as what he escaped from - he sees it as the same thing. One group imposing their view on another - and forcing it where they can. Because he has really helped nations like Russia etc. he sees himself as a kind of self appointed savior, messiah, and he said as much. He gave $50 million in 1992 to alleviate suffering in Bosnia and gave $350 million in 1995 to help Russia . In fact he had a lot to do with the bringing down of commmunism. He has given $15.5 million so far to oust President Bush and his aim is to give $400 million a year to bring about his agenda's in America-He has has said he will give everything he has if he could make sure that George Bush doesn't get in again. But understand where he's coming from. He believes that Christianity is intolerant ( which it is, when it to comes to false religions and anti-God agenda's). He wants the world God free as he equates religion with control and suffering. Remember he doesn't understand what Christianity is so he is ignorant. I really believe he thinks he is helping the world be free, Pray for him and get others to pray for him - very important. He will not donate to any Jewish organization, although he is a Hungarian Jew and does not like his brethren in Israel. Pray about it and see what the Lord shows you about George Soros. He nearly caused Malaysia banks to collapse by wheeling and dealing in the currency market. The Malaysian PM hates him. He has a great ability to see where the currencies of the nations are going and so makes most of his money buying and converting and selling currencies. When you fight something really hard like he fought against "control" in the form of Nazism and Communism, you get entagled in that spirit and then it takes you over too. I dont think that George Soros realizes that the thing that he fought so hard against has taken over him. Now he has a new project: defeating President Bush. "It is the central focus of my life," Soros said, his blue eyes settled on an unseen target. The 2004 presidential race, he said in an interview, is "a matter of life and death." Soros, who has financed efforts to promote open societies in more than 50 countries around the world, is bringing the fight home, he said. On Monday, he and a partner committed up to $5 million to MoveOn.org, a liberal activist group, bringing to $15.5 million the total of his personal contributions to oust Bush.

Overnight, Soros, 74, has become the major financial player of the left. He has elicited cries of foul play from the right. And with a tight nod, he pledged: "If necessary, I would give more money." "America, under Bush, is a danger to the world," Soros said. Then he smiled: "And I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is."

Soros believes that a "supremacist ideology" guides this White House. He hears echoes in its rhetoric of his childhood in occupied Hungary. "When I hear Bush say, 'You're either with us or against us,' it reminds me of the Germans." It conjures up memories, he said, of Nazi slogans on the walls, Der Feind Hort mit ("The enemy is listening"). "My experiences under Nazi and Soviet rule have sensitized me," he said in a soft Hungarian accent.

Soros's contributions are filling a gap in Democratic Party finances that opened after the restrictions in the 2002 McCain-Feingold law took effect. In the past, political parties paid a large share of television and get-out-the-vote costs with unregulated "soft money" contributions from corporations, unions and rich individuals. The parties are now barred from accepting such money. But non-party groups in both camps are stepping in, accepting soft money and taking over voter mobilization. "It's incredibly ironic that George Soros is trying to create a more open society by using an unregulated, under-the-radar-screen, shadowy, soft-money group to do it," Republican National Committee spokeswoman Christine Iverson said. "George Soros has purchased the Democratic Party."

In past election cycles, Soros contributed relatively modest sums. In 2000, his aide said, he gave $122,000, mostly to Democratic causes and candidates. But recently, Soros has grown alarmed at the influence of neoconservatives, whom he calls "a bunch of extremists guided by a crude form of social Darwinism."

Neoconservatives, Soros said, are exploiting the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, to promote a preexisting agenda of preemptive war and world dominion. "Bush feels that on September 11th he was anointed by God," Soros said. "He's leading the U.S. and the world toward a vicious circle of escalating violence."

Soros said he had been waking at 3 a.m., his thoughts shaking him "like an alarm clock." Sitting in his robe, he wrote his ideas down, longhand, on a stack of pads. In January, PublicAffairs will publish them as a book, "The Bubble of American Supremacy" (an excerpt appears in December's Atlantic Monthly). In it, he argues for a collective approach to security, increased foreign aid and "preventive action."

"It would be too immodest for a private person to set himself up against the president," he said. "But it is, in fact" -- he chuckled -- "the Soros Doctrine."

His campaign began last summer with the help of Morton H. Halperin, a liberal think tank veteran. Soros invited Democratic strategists to his house in Southampton, Long Island, including Clinton chief of staff John D. Podesta, Jeremy Rosner, Robert Boorstin and Carl Pope.
They discussed the coming election. Standing on the back deck, the evening sun angling into their eyes, Soros took aside Steve Rosenthal, CEO of the liberal activist group America Coming Together (ACT), and Ellen Malcolm, its president. They were proposing to mobilize voters in 17 battleground states. Soros told them he would give ACT $10 million.

Asked about his moment in the sun, Rosenthal deadpanned: "We were disappointed. We thought a guy like George Soros could do more." Then he laughed. "No, kidding! It was thrilling. It was like getting his Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval." "They were ready to kiss me," Soros quipped.

Before coffee the next morning, his friend Peter Lewis, chairman of the Progressive Corp., had pledged $10 million to ACT. Rob Glaser, founder and CEO of RealNetworks, promised $2 million. Rob McKay, president of the McKay Family Foundation, gave $1 million and benefactors Lewis and Dorothy Cullman committed $500,000. Soros also promised up to $3 million to Podesta's new think tank, the Center for American Progress.

Soros will continue to recruit wealthy donors for his campaign. Having put a lot of money into the war of ideas around the world, he has learned that "money buys talent; you can advocate more effectively." At his home in Westchester, N.Y., he raised $115,000 for Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean. He also supports Democratic presidential contenders Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), retired Gen. Wesley K. Clark and Rep.> Richard A. Gephardt (Mo.). In an effort to limit Soros's influence, the RNC sent a letter to Dean Monday, asking him to request that ACT and similar organizations follow the McCain-Feingold restrictions limiting individual contributions to $2,000. The RNC is not the only group irked by Soros. Fred Wertheimer, president of Democracy 21, which promotes changes in campaign finance, has benefited from Soros's grants over the years. Soros has backed altering campaign finance, an aide said, donating close to $18 million over the past seven years.

"There's some irony, given the supporting role he played in helping to end the soft money system," Wertheimer said. "I'm sorry that Mr. Soros has decided to put so much money into a political effort to defeat a candidate. We will be watchdogging him closely."

An aide said Soros welcomes the scrutiny. Soros has become as rich as he has, the aide said, because he has a preternatural instinct for a good deal.

Asked whether he would trade his $7 billion fortune to unseat Bush, Soros opened his mouth. Then he closed it. The proposal hung in the air: Would he become poor to beat Bush? He said, "If someone guaranteed it." © 2003 The Washington Post Company
