The Cloward-Piven Strategy

An Orchestrated Economic Crisis

The Democrat strategy to overload the American public welfare system, bankrupting the Nation, creating a crisis that Democrats will "not let go to waste" to mandate more control over every aspect of our lives by imposing a Socialist/Marxist/Communistic "beehive" state of a Declaration of Dependence undermining the Declaration of Independence.

Consider the Democrat agenda for open borders, climate hoax, public school & college indoctrination, mainstream Marxist media, & big tech silencing free speech, and "social justice" judges that eschew the Constitution.

The Demos' Socialist Cloward-Piven Pivot  - What objectives and strategies do the Democrat Party and CPUSA have in common? - By Mark Alexander - So, what objectives and strategies do the Democrat Party and CPUSA have in common? Well, how much time do you have? Most notably, both are advocates of the Cloward-Piven Strategy, which is the '60s-era brainchild of two hard-left academics to "end poverty" by creating an economic crisis that would lead to the collapse of capitalism resulting in its replacement with socialism. As one of our political analysts, Arnold Ahlert, wrote: "In 1966, Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven formulated the Cloward-Piven Strategy. It was a plan to overthrow America's capitalist system by overloading the welfare state bureaucracy with demands that were impossible to meet, thereby precipitating a revolution." Ahlert noted that the latest "effort to 'crash the system'" is to overload it with illegal immigrants. This explains the Demos' 2020 platform: "Open Borders and Free Stuff." Indeed, the party that was once the champion of blue-collar workers now supports the greatest threat to labor, wage growth, and the economy overall: the influx of millions of illegal aliens competing for jobs, willing to take lower wages, and soaking up enormous taxpayer resources in terms of medical care, welfare, housing, and education. According to Cloward and Piven, to achieve their goal, it would necessitate "a massive drive to recruit the poor onto the welfare rolls," followed by "a federal program of income redistribution ... necessary to elevate the poor en masse from poverty." That income redistribution would take the form of "a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty." Except the only thing that's equal under socialism is poverty, except, of course, for the political class.

Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis, Part I Article of the Year, 2008 - As originally posted in American Thinker, 9/28/2008 (updated in Whistleblower Magazine, 1/2009) this expose' flashed a floodlight upon the corruptors of the American republic, behind the form of Barack Obama. It may have also begun to explain the "mortgage meltdown," an economic crisis which propelled this spurious candidate into the presidential and constitutional crisis which we now suffer.

In an earlier post, I noted the liberal record of unmitigated legislative disasters, the latest of which is now being played out in the financial markets before our eyes. Before the 1994 Republican takeover, Democrats had sixty years of virtually unbroken power in Congress - with substantial majorities most of the time. Can a group of smart people, studying issue after issue for years on end, with virtually unlimited resources at their command, not come up with a single policy that works? Why are they chronically incapable?

Why? One of two things must be true. Either the Democrats are unfathomable idiots, who ignorantly pursue ever more destructive policies despite decades of contrary evidence, or they understand the consequences of their actions and relentlessly carry on anyway because they somehow benefit.

America's Economic and Spiritual Woes - By Bob Pue - ...My guess is that this young man and his companion (wife or girlfriend) most likely live with his mother, are unemployed and live on government handouts, which they believe they're entitled to. It's not just the young people. We're now living in a society that has learned to depend on Big Government for all their needs. It's become multi-generational. Indeed, there are many who know no other way of life. Understand, I have no problem helping the poor and needy. As Christ-followers, we are called to help the poor. This is commanded throughout Scripture. (Deuteronomy 15, Proverbs 19:17, 22:9, 28:27, Matthew 19:21)
...When government does it, it's simply a redistribution of financial resources. In other words, theft. The government steals the paychecks of the workers so they can enslave the non-workers, lulling them into a mind-numbed sense of entitlement and complacency. ...So these government handouts are not "benefits," and they certainly aren't benefitting anyone, except the politicians seeking to dumb people down and keep them controlled. Just look at the state of our impoverished inner cities. Because the Nanny State takes care of them, there's no incentive to work, no incentive to strive for something better, or for people to better themselves. (2 Thessalonians 3:10 - For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.)
...And we have to refuse to take the bait that results in slothfulness. Because dependence on the government for so-called "benefits" always results in government enslavement. ...It's just easier to take the handouts, which are actually bribes, because those who get the free stuff will always support those who supply the free stuff. But friends, there ain't nothin' "free." Those handouts come with a price. A lifetime of poverty and dependence.
... And while our government leaders keep giving themselves raises, usually several times a year, our elderly subsist on Social Security payments that haven't kept up with the cost of living for a very long time now. I have no problem with people drawing Social Security. It was their money to begin with, that was stolen from them, mismanaged by the thieves, and of course, taxed not once, but twice, when they earn it, and when they get a pittance of it back in retirement. What a racket.
...We've all heard about the few major bank failures in recent weeks. It's made big headlines, even in the lying mainstream media. But are you aware that between 2021 and 2023 there have been 563 banks that went bankrupt? From the research I've been able to do, it appears at least 200 more are set to go under in the coming weeks and months of this year. Of course, this has all been purposely orchestrated by the Globalist Great Re-setters. Our economic system must be destroyed to make way for the global digital New World currency, at which time, our enslavement will be complete. No longer will it just be those taking the "free cheese" from the government trap. They're planning to trap all of us, whether we like it or not.
... Our enemies within the government meant their plans for evil, but if Christ-followers rise up and begin to push back against this wicked agenda, this can be a time like never before in history to save souls.

Obamanomics enhanced by Bidennomics

How The Socialist Are Destroying America From Within By David A. Noebel - Most Americans are totally unaware that the U.S. House of Representatives crawls with a large, well-organized assembly of socialist organizations. These organizations are dedicated to (a) bringing about the destruction of the capitalist economic system (portrayed as greedy, conservative, religious, and/or filthy rich) and (b) slowly but surely bringing production, education, food, and health care under the complete control and regulation of the federal government.

...The legislators involved in this socialistic undertaking belong to one or more radical House organizations: the Progressive Democrats of America (6 House members), the Congressional Progressive Caucus (74 House members), the Congressional Black Caucus (43 House members), and the Democratic Socialists of America.

Incidentally, the Democratic Socialists of America do not identify their House members since they consider all members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus part of their membership due to the fact that "they both shared operative social democratic politics." The most prominent national member of DSA is AFL-CIO President John J. Sweeney, who could well be the most powerful influence in the House of Representatives. And for the record, the Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus is Congressional Progressive Caucus member Barbara Lee (CA-9). The interconnections between all these socialist-based organizations is staggering.

These organizations and their members quite literally comprise a Socialist Red Army within the very contours of the House of Representatives. According to the Wikipedia article on the organization, "The Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) is the single largest partisan caucus in the United States House of Representatives and works together to advance progressive [socialist] issues and causes. The CPC was founded in 1991 by independent [socialist] Congressman Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who remains a member as Senator. [The CPC] represents about a third of the House Democratic Caucus. Of the twenty standing committees of the House, eleven are chaired by members of the CPC."

When the CPC claimed 64 members in 2006 (now 74 and gaining), the leftist publication The Nation boasted, "The largest ideological caucus in the new House Democratic majority will be the Congressional Progressive Caucus, with a membership that includes New York's Charles Rangel, Michigan's John Conyers, Massachusetts's Barney Frank and at least half the incoming chairs of House standing committees" (The Nation, November 12, 2006).

These current eleven chairs are CPC members: George Miller (CA-9)-Chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee; Henry Waxman (CA-30)-Chairman of the Committee on Energy and Commerce; Bob Filner (CA-51)-Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee; Barney Frank (MA-4)-Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee; John Conyers (MI-14)-Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee; Bennie Thompson (MS-2)-Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee; Nydia Velazquez (NY-12)-Chairwoman of the House Small Business Committee; Charles Rangel (NY-15)-Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee; Louise Slaughter (NY-28)-Chairwoman of the House Rules Committee; Bob Brady (PA-1)-Chairman of the House Administration Committee; and Edward J. Markey (MA-7)-Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming.

As of February 20, 2009, the Co-Chairs of the CPC are Raul M. Grijalva (AZ-7) and Lynn Woolsey (CA-6). The Vice Chairs are Diane Watson (CA-33), Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX-18), Mazie Hirono (HI-2), and Dennis Kucinich (OH-10). Incidentally, the CPC website was "hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America" until 1999, a group affiliated with the Socialist International which was founded by Karl Marx, Saint-Simon, and Fourier!

Barack Obama and the Strategy of Manufactured Crisis By James Simpson - One of two things must be true. Either the Democrats are unfathomable idiots, who ignorantly pursue ever more destructive policies despite decades of contrary evidence, or they understand the consequences of their actions and relentlessly carry on anyway because they somehow benefit. I submit to you they understand the consequences. For many it is simply a practical matter of eliciting votes from a targeted constituency at taxpayer expense; we lose a little, they gain a lot, and the politician keeps his job. But for others, the goal is more malevolent - the failure is deliberate. Don't laugh. This method not only has its proponents, it has a name: the Cloward-Piven Strategy. It describes their agenda, tactics, and long-term strategy.
The Strategy was first elucidated in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation magazine by a pair of radical socialist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. David Horowitz summarizes it as: The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.
Cloward and Piven were inspired by radical organizer [and Hillary Clinton mentor] Saul Alinsky: "Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one. (Courtesy Discover the Networks.org)
Newsmax rounds out the picture: Their strategy to create political, financial, and social chaos that would result in revolution blended Alinsky concepts with their more aggressive efforts at bringing about a change in U.S. government. To achieve their revolutionary change, Cloward and Piven sought to use a cadre of aggressive organizers assisted by friendly news media to force a re-distribution of the nation's wealth.

Obama using the economic crisis to push socialism - President Obama pledged to expand the tentacles of government further into our lives than ever before when he said that government will watch over your children "from the day they are born"! Here is a sampling of Obama's outrageous socialistic pledges:

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas wrote: "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened." ...Nineteenth-century historian Alexis de Tocqueville once observed, "Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word: equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude." ...Some have suggested that Socialism is a Biblical concept, but the Bible places the burden of responsibility for stewardship on the individual, while Marx, FDR and his Leftist successors advocate that the state should enforce redistribution of wealth. In failing to discern this distinction, FDR set the stage for the entrapment of future generations by the welfare state and the incremental shift from self-reliance to dependence upon the state -- ultimately the state of tyranny.  Useful Idiots on the Left

To The Democrats, You're Just A Groupie By Michael Reagan - The big difference between Republicans and liberal Democrats is the way each party views people. Republicans see us as individuals and respect our God-given human dignity. To liberal Democrats, we're not individuals; we're members of a herd with all the dignity of a cow or pig dependent on its owner for daily rations of hay or slop. Democrats see us as being white or as blacks or as straights or as gays, or as lesbians or as heterosexuals, or as rich or poor, or as Christians or as Jews or as Muslims, or as young or as old, as working or as retired, or as housewives or as career women. They submerge us into pools that define us as members of groups instead of as what we are as God sees us, -- as any father sees his children -- each being different from one another, and each child being a separate and distinct individual with his or her own specific talents and abilities, and all deserving of his love. Republicans see us all as Americans, all united in our desire to see this nation grow and prosper, and be safe and secure, and to provide opportunities to everyone no matter our group membership.

There are three questions that I think would destroy the left if people could ask them: "What are the facts?" "What are the consequences of what you are going to do?" And "What is the trade-off?" Thomas Sowell
