He is risen!!!
Sir Lionel Luckhoo (1914-1997), was ambassador of Barbados and Guyana. Knighted by the Queen of England, he was listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the world's most successful criminal attorney. Sir Lionel Luckhoo, who spoke to presidents, kings, parliaments and the United Nations, stated: "The bones of Muhammad are in Medina, the bones of Confucius are in Shantung, the cremated bones of Buddha are in Nepal. Thousands pay pilgrimages to worship at their tombs which contain their bones. But in Jerusalem there is a cave cut into the rock. This is the tomb of Jesus. IT IS EMPTY! YES, EMPTY! BECAUSE HE IS RISEN! He died, physically and historically. He arose from the dead, and now sits at the right hand of God."

Wisdom Challenges
He that has ears to hear
let him hear

Matthew 11:15-27 -  At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Our eternal challenge

John 1:1-14: "He was in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own and His received Him not. But as may as received Him, to then gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name; which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth."

Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear."

John 17:3: "And this is eternal life, that they would  know You, the only true God,
and Whom You sent Jesus Messiah."   (Power New Testament)

Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

  • James Monroe, speech in the Virginia Ratifying Convention, 1788 - "How prone all human institutions have been to decay; how subject the best-formed and most wisely organized governments have been to lose their check and totally dissolve; how difficult it has been for mankind, in all ages and countries, to preserve their dearest rights and best privileges, impelled as it were by an irresistible fate of despotism."

  • Frederick Douglass (Rochester, 1857) - "The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress."
  • Professor Alexander Tytler? - "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship."
  • General Douglas MacArthur - "History fails to record a single precedent in which nations subject to moral decay have not passed into political and economic decline. There has been either a spiritual awakening to overcome the moral lapse, or a progressive deterioration leading to ultimate national disaster."

o Shocking census numbers show we’re at the tipping point - Written by Allen West - I am often asked if I believe our Republic is close to the tipping point. My answer is yes, I truly believe we are. There is a great quote often attributed to Scottish historian, Alexander Fraser Tytler, Alexis de Tocqueville or some other very astute person that sums it up nicely: “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.” Well, here we are on the brink, backed up by cold hard facts. According to analysis of U.S Census Bureau data by Terence Jeffrey at cnsnews.com, in 2012 there were 86,429,000 people who got up every morning and went to work in the private sector – but they were way outnumbered by those receiving “means-tested” government benefits including, Medicaid, food stamps, Supplemental Security Income (Social Security Disability), public housing, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
...Many fail to realize that Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare are part of the “mandatory spending side of our federal budget — along with net interest on the debt. That comprises some 62 percent of the federal budget. As President Obama likes to say, “it is math,” but this math does not bode well for the future of America. America now has more people on Medicaid than the population of England. We have more people on food stamps than the population of Spain. This is the result of the Obama economy, the growth of the welfare nanny-state and the demonizing of hard working Americans. Clock is ticking…

o For what does our Republic stand? - Written by Allen West - The question for us as Americans — residents of a Constitutional Republic — is for what does this Republic stand? ...Mind you, I don’t have a problem with “render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s” to a point, but doggone, I’m kinda getting tired of the wasteful spending and the expansion of the welfare nanny-state. I’ve grown disgusted by the use of my taxpayer dollars as largesse by which politicians — especially liberal progressives — bribe the public for their vote. If I hear the president mention “infrastructure repair” one more time, I will need to repair the infrastructure in my home when I destroy my television.
...If we do not restore this Republic to its fundamental principles of the rule of law and individual liberty, we will continue our trek down this road to perdition. If we cannot return to sound fiscal policy to include federal fiscal responsibility and a strong national defense –peace through strength — then the grand experiment begun 237 years ago will fail. ...We’ve tried the whole “fundamental transformation of America” thing and it ain’t working. As a matter of fact, progressive socialism has never worked anywhere in the world. So let’s get back to our pledge as the Founders intended, — and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation, under God (from a Judeo-Christian heritage) indivisible, with liberty and justice — not government-contrived social egalitarian justice — for all.

o The Real Story of Ben-Hur's 'Tale of the Christ' - By Dawn Goeb and Wendy Griffith - For many, watching the movie "Ben-Hur" has become an Easter tradition. The 1959 blockbuster, starring Charlton Heston, made history with a record 11 Academy Awards. Now, the 1925 silent version is making a comeback. But what many may not know is that Hollywood didn't create this classic story. The idea came from the best-selling novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, published in 1880. The book tells the story of a life-altering encounter between a first century Jewish prince and Jesus of Nazareth. The author is Lew Wallace -- a true renaissance man.
Without Real Conviction - "He tried different things," said Larry Paarlberg, director of the Lew Wallace Study and Museum in Crawfordsville, Ind.
"He loved to paint, he loved to write, he loved to do creative things, he loved the military," he explained. "He became a prosecuting attorney; he was in the legislature for a term." Wallace showed a talent for writing early in life. He learned about the Bible from his favorite teacher. And while he didn't care for church, the story of the three wise men fascinated him.
As Wallace later wrote in his autobiography, "Little did I dream then what those few verses were to bring me -- that out of them Ben-Hur was one day to be evoked." In the meantime, Wallace's writing took a back seat to other priorities. He fought in the Mexican-American War and the Civil War, becoming the youngest major general in the Union Army. He also married and had a son.
Throughout the years, he kept coming back to the biblical account of the three wise men. So, he decided to write a magazine article about them. "I had no convictions about God or Christ. I neither believed nor disbelieved in them… Yet when the work was fairly begun, I found myself writing reverentially, with awe," Wallace wrote.
His Own 'Tale of Christ' - Still, Wallace had much to learn about God -- as he found out in a chance encounter with a well-known atheist named Robert Ingersoll.  "Robert Ingersoll knew far more about the Bible," Paarlberg said."You don't preach against something unless you know it. And so he just filleted Lew." Walking alone to his hotel that night, Wallace realized the time had come to form his own opinion on the subject of religion. "My ignorance of it was painfully a spot of deeper darkness in the darkness," he wrote. "I was ashamed of myself."
Paarlberg sees this as a pivotal moment in Wallace's life. "He realized at that point, 'I have no business submitting this story for publication. I don't know what I was talking about… I need to do the research; I need to learn the Bible; I need to learn the story," he said. Early in his research, Wallace created the fictional character of Judah Ben-Hur, a witness to the real-life events leading up to the death and resurrection of Christ. Wallace soon began to see God through the eyes of his character.
"Long before I was through with my book, I became a believer in God and Christ," the author wrote.

o Ben Hur: A Tale of Christ (Wallbuilders.com) - In 1880, General Lew Wallace published his famous book, Ben Hur, a novel about the life of Judah Ben-Hur, that parallels the existence, times, and experiences of Christ. (WallBuilders recently posted a handwritten page from Lew Wallace with a portion of the race scene from that book.)
In his Autobiography, Lew Wallace stated his reasons for writing books such as Ben Hur, declaring: ... I believe in the Divinity of Jesus Christ; and that there may be no suspicion of haggling over the word "divinity," permission is besought to quote the preface of a little volume of mine, The Boyhood of Christ: "Should one ask of another, or wonder in himself, why I, who am neither minister of the Gospel, nor theologian, nor churchman, have presumed to write this book, it pleases me to answer him, respectfully - I wrote it to fix an impression distinctly in my mind. Asks he for the impression thus sought to be fixed in my mind, then I would be twice happy did he content himself with this answer - The Jesus Christ in whom I believe was, in all the stages of his life, a human being. His divinity was the Spirit within him, 'and the Spirit was God.'"
Joseph Harper, one of the publishers of Ben Hur, stated that this was "A bold experiment to make Christ a hero that has been often tried and always failed." But this time, the experiment did not fail. The book sales began to soar, and by the end of the century (only 20 years later), it had sold more copies than other book that entire century.
It made such an impact on President Garfield that only a year after it was published, Garfield appointed Wallace as the U.S. Minister to TurkeyLord Dufferin (a British Ambassador) told Wallace: It is wonderful how you have interwoven the sacred elements of the story with the human interest, without producing any sense of incongruity, or wounding the reverential sensitiveness of the reader. . . . I can quite understand your having received the thanks of those whom you have aided to realize, more acutely than their own feeble imaginations enabled them to do, the heart-breaking incidents of the Crucifixion. In 1910, Lew Wallace's impact on America was commemorated as a statute of him became one of two statutes given to the United States Capitol by the State of Indiana.

o Democrats conspiring to rig Electoral College, law passed in 9 states so far - By DICK MORRIS - A plan, now stealthily making its way through state legislatures with astonishing speed, would junk the Electoral College and award the presidency to the winner of the popular vote.... And, it has already passed one house in: Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Oregon. These states, plus New York represent 107 votes. Combined with the others they are up to 242 votes . They need 270. Who is pushing this? All of those ratifying voted for Obama as did eight of the 10 one-house states. The Movement is funded, in part, by the Center for Voting and Democracy, a George Soros-funded election group.
Essentially, it is an end run around the regular constitutional amending process. Rather than get a two-thirds majority of each house of Congress and three-quarters of the states, this proposal would take effect when a simple majority approve it. Why are Democrats pushing this plan? Democrats usually see a smaller percentage of their people go to the polls than Republicans do.
Under the electoral vote system, they figure why beat the drums to get a high turnout in New York City when the state will go Democrat anyway? But, if its the popular vote that matters, the big city machines can do their thing -- with devastating impact. And think of the chances for voter fraud! Right now, the biggest cities, the ones most firmly in Democratic control (e.g. Washington DC, New York, Detroit, Chicago, San Francisco, etc.) are all solidly in blue states. Not only does this make it unnecessary to maximize turnouts there, but it also makes it unnecessary to promote double voting, fraudulent voting, and all the other tricks of the trade at which Democrats excel.
But if the popular vote determines who will be the next president, we can bet that the machines will be out in force lining up voters, real and phony, to pad their statistics. Some Republicans, particularly in non-swing states, are inclined to back the proposal simply so that they get their fair share of attention. They are tired of delegating to Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Virginia, et al the power to choose the president. And they can’t remember when a candidate for that office last favored their state with his presence.
But don’t let our Attention Deficit Disorder lead us to give away the store. The popular vote is what the Democrats do best. Fighting them on it is, in Winston Churchill’s words, “like going into the water to fight the shark.” Republicans need to kill this proposal and they better get busy doing it. Some small states are backing it because they are tired of all the attention being focused on swing states. But Republicans must stand firm and not yield to the temptation to back it.
How can we stop the Democrats from ravaging our political system? The key battles are coming up in Arkansas and North Carolina. In both states, one house has passed the Compact. We need to stand firm in these two red states and block the Compact from taking effect. Republicans in Minnesota and Wisconsin, both blue states, need to stop ratification in their states. And, Republicans should focus on stopping the second house from ratification in those states where only one house has acted. Our democracy depends on it.

o The National Popular Vote: a perfectly horrendous idea - By Bryan Fischer - The NPV has now been adopted by 11 states, with New York being the latest to sign on just this week. NPV provides that, if enough states sign compacts with other states, every state which belongs to the compact will automatically award all of its electoral votes to whichever presidential candidate wins the nationwide popular vote. New York just added its 29 electoral votes to the plan, bringing the total number of electoral votes controlled by NPV to 165, or 61 percent of the total needed for the plan to take effect.
Thus the citizens in states which cast a majority of votes for the candidate who loses the nationwide popular vote would be instantly disenfranchised. The Founders would roll over in their ballot boxes to see this monstrosity make any progress in the nation they built. The Founders established the Electoral College instead of a direct popular vote precisely because pure democracy quickly descends into mob rule. They understood fallen humanity, and knew how easily and quickly the masses can be deceived by charlatans and populists into voting for whoever will tickle enough ears and promise enough goodies.
Said James Madison, the Father of the Constitution: "Democracy is the most vile form of government. ... democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property: and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths."
You naturally will ask, does this mean the Founders did not trust the collective electoral wisdom of the people? That's exactly what it means. They knew the susceptibility of frail human beings to demagoguery and how quickly a society could unravel under pure democracy. This is how John Adams put it: "Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy; such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mould itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit, and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable [abominable] cruelty of one or a very few."
As a protection against mobocracy, in virtually every circumstance the Founders sought to insert a layer of insulation between the people themselves and the selection of public officials and the formation of public policy. The whole point of the Electoral College was that voters wouldn't even vote for a president. They would vote instead for electors, who in turn would select a president for them. The only, absolutely the only, public officials who were placed into office by a direct vote of the people were members of the House of Representatives.
Presidents were to be chosen by electors, not by the people. Senators were to be chosen by state legislatures, not by the people. Judges were to be chosen by the president with the advice and consent of the Senate, not by the people. The original design of the Electoral College was that we the people would not choose a president but rather would choose the people who would choose a president for us. November elections were intended to be elections in which we chose electors, not presidents.
The intention of the Founders was that there would be, in today's terms, 538 separate campaigns for the office of elector, in which candidates for that office would seek to convince us that they could be trusted with that most important of decisions, the selection of the next president of the United States. Once they had chosen a president, their term of office would come to an end.
This is a subject for another day, but it would be best for us to award electoral votes congressional district by congressional district rather than state by state. Nebraska and Maine already do this. Rural districts in states with huge population centers such as New York and California often feel disenfranchised, as if their votes don't count and don't matter. It would be far better to award one electoral vote to every single congressional district, with two additional electoral votes (for each of the their two senate seats) awarded to the winner of each state's popular vote. We should be moving toward this as a goal, not toward the republic-destroying National Popular Vote.
The NPV is a drastic lurch away from a republican form of government and should be firmly, immediately and persistently resisted. Benjamin Franklin famously told us that the Founders had given us "a Republic, if you can keep it." The NPV is just about the fastest way to destroy what is left of that republic. As Founding Father Benjamin Rush put it, "A simple democracy is the devil's own government." I prefer the government of the Founders over the government of the Prince of Darkness. And so should you. (See also: http://www.earstohear.net/Heritage/ElectoralCollege.html)

o "Hold Hillary Accountable" Petition - We all know Hillary is complicit in the deaths of four Americans when she left them to burn in Benghazi. You also know Hillary Clinton is currently under investigation by the federal government for federal election law violations and conspiring with her Super PAC (Ready for Hillary) -- a PAC being run run by her longtime political henchmen. But until now, she has not been held accountable for anything. That is about to change. Hillary is now caught in another major scandal. Just this morning, the Washington Post and Fox News reported that Hillary is being implicated in a pay-to-play scheme that started while she was Secretary of State and involves the former Soviet Union, the Boeing company and her so-called "non-profit" -- the Clinton Foundation.
   Whereas: Hillary Clinton is complicit in the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi;
   Whereas: Hillary Clinton is under FEC investigation for campaign finance violations;
   Whereas: Hillary Clinton waived ethics rules without substantial cause;
   Whereas: Hillary Clinton worked on behalf of Boeing to facilitate a contract with Russia;
   Whereas: Boeing compensated Hillary with a $900,000 contribution to the Clinton Foundation;
Therefore: we call on the House Oversight Committee, U.S. Department of Justice, and the FEC to launch a full-scale combined investigation into Hillary's wrong doing.

o Ben Carson: Americans 'Being Played' by Those Who Seek Division - By Todd Beamon - Retired pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson said Thursday that Americans are "being played by those people who want to divide, conquer and control." "The trend you can see in our society is if you are pro-life, then you're anti-woman," Carson said at a town hall meeting entitled "Religion in America," sponsored by local news station CBS12 in West Palm Beach, Fla. "If you're pro-traditional marriage, then you're homophobic. If you're a white person — and you say something against a progressive black person, you’re a racist. "We have gotten to this point to where we just like to label people and create division," Carson added. "Where the American people have to come in here is recognizing that we're being manipulated." He said that Americans are under attack by neo-Nazi groups and others who work to keep citizens from practicing their religion freely throughout the nation. "We, the American people, have to realize that we are not each other's enemies. The enemy are those people who are trying to divide us up."

o Bill to free Justina Pelletier making waves in Massachusetts Legislature. (MassResistance.org) Some shameful hostility among GOP Reps. ...Update on bill filed in Mass. Legislature to free Justina Pelletier: We wanted Justina to be home for Easter. And apparently she won't even be able to see her parents on Easter. We have been told by people in the offices of the House Democrat leadership that they have been getting a flood of phone calls and emails from Massachusetts and around the country on bill HD 4212, written by MassResistance, which would free Justina Pelletier from state custody. We have definitely gotten their attention. Outrageously, the Democrat leaders in the Massachusetts House of Representatives are still blocking it. But we're just getting started!
...take action. We believe it's due to the usual political arrogance, fear, and corruption. The Democrats don't want to oppose the Governor. The Republicans don't want to be viewed as "extreme." Neither wants to antagonize judges in the state, or cross the DCF special interests on this. But a loud outcry from citizens could overcome all that. Nevertheless, the Democrats hold the power to make this happen but are holding it up. They can't blame the Republicans, who would probably vote for it, no matter what their rhetoric is at this point, if it came up for a vote. Right now we are encouraging people to keep calling and emailing the Democrat House leadership. They are the ones keeping the bill bottled up. We can't let up on them!

o MassResistance confronts City of Boston's proposed sex-change city insurance requirement. A destructive measure to please a radical special interest. ...On Wednesday, April 16, two members of the Boston City Council introduced anordinance to require that health insurance for city employees cover "transgender" sex-change procedures, including hormone treatments and "gender reassignment" surgery. This is the latest demand of the homosexual / transgender movement in many cities across the country.
...The huge need to tell the truth. How do you fight this? As we have shown, there is at least one thing that everyone can do that makes a difference: Tell the truth without backing down. This ordinance is an example of how the Left's world is built on lies and intimidation. They depend on the silence and fear of regular people to push their agenda. Any textbook on confronting a totalitarian environment always begins with the requirement of telling the truth without any compromise. If you just do that, you're having a positive effect! And not doing so gives their side a tighter grip on the public's perceived definition of reality. There is a disturbing trend by pro-family groups around the country to be moderate and inoffensive when dealing with this issue, so as not to antagonize the LGBT movement and the media. They either (1) avoid the subject entirely; or (2) concede major points but quibble with a minor part of it, such as saying that transsexuals may "need" surgery but it ought not be paid for by the taxpayer; or (3) simply say that the whole thing is something they "disagree with" because of "religious freedom" or similar non-threatening reasoning. Thus, handing a victory for the other side.

o 10 Reasons to Vote Democrat in 2014 - Written by Allen West - I can only take credit for #10, but thought you’d get a kick out of this.
   10. I’ll vote Democrat because I can’t wait for college football season to be delayed or cancelled because the student athletes are union employees.
   9. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe oil company’s profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn’t.
   8. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.
   7. I’ll vote Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.
   6. I’ll vote Democrat because I’m way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves. I am also thankful that we have a 911 service that get police to your home in order to identify your body after a home invasion.
   5. I’ll vote Democrat because I’m not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive and comfy.
   4. I’ll vote Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits, and we should take away the Social Security from those who paid into it.
   3. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe that businesses should NOT be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.
   2. I’ll vote Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

And the Number One reason I’ll vote Democrat is:
   1. I’ll vote Democrat because I think that it’s better to pay billions for oil to people who hate us, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle, gopher, fish or frog.

o Understanding Our Divisions - By George Will  - The fundamental division in American politics is between those who take their bearings from the individual's right to a capacious, indeed indefinite, realm of freedom, and those whose fundamental value is the right of the majority to have its way in making rules about which specified liberties shall be respected. ... The argument is between conservatives who say American politics is basically about a condition, liberty, and progressives who say it is about a process, democracy. Progressives, who consider democracy the source of liberty, reverse the Founders' premise, which was: Liberty pre-exists governments, which, the Declaration says, are legitimate when 'instituted' to 'secure' natural rights. ... With the Declaration, Americans ceased claiming the rights of aggrieved Englishmen and began asserting rights that are universal because they are natural, meaning necessary for the flourishing of human nature. 'In Europe,' wrote James Madison, 'charters of liberty have been granted by power,' but America has 'charters of power granted by liberty.

o Who is Jesus to you? A liar, a lunatic, or your Lord?
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness; and the darkness doesn't comprehend it." John 1:1-5
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12
For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. I Timothy 2:5
"...for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins." Jesus - John 8:24b

o Consider Easter Culture Challenge of the Week: The Good in “Good Friday” - By Rebecca Hagelin - Darkness fell across the land and the man they thought would be their savior cried out in a loud voice, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Soon after, he breathed his last. The people standing at the foot of the cross beat their breasts and stumbled away. From a distance, his mother and friends watched in silent despair. His disciples were broken in spirit – no doubt confused, hurting and angry. They had followed this man for years, left their work and their families for him. They thought he would change everything. But in the course of one day, all of their hopes were dashed.
They all felt the sting of betrayal when Judas brought the soldiers to the garden to arrest Jesus. Later, Peter anguished at the darkness of his own heart after he denied his closest friend. Their miracle-worker kept still as he was accused, remained silent as he was beaten, and carried his own cross. They heard the crowd mocking him, telling him to save himself, and his followers swelled with anticipation waiting to see him do it. Surely, he would. But instead, he gave up his spirit.
How many times have you felt the sting of betrayal in your own life? How long have you been haunted by your own conscience? How often are you consumed by bitter disappointment? How easily confused are you when things don't go according to plan? Is there no justice in this world?
How are we ever to believe the promise in Romans that “all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose?” Does it really mean all things? Our own sin, injustice, even death itself? The world has never seen a graver injustice than the death of Jesus. The only man who lived without sin of any kind was tortured and crucified. As the Prince of Peace suffered, the adversary rejoiced in his sickening, preverted understanding of victory. Yet what seemed like victory for the powers of darkness, God used for the salvation of all mankind. What seemed like sure defeat was the greatest gain.

o Rescuing Detroit From Its Own Folly (PatriotPost.us) - “It is not the business of government … to preserve the fool from the consequences of his own folly,” said Henry George, a 19th century American writer and politician. Unfortunately, that advice is rarely heeded today. The Detroit Free Press reports that the federal government is considering providing $100 million to ease the pain of Detroit's ongoing city pension reforms. The money technically would not be provided directly to the city's pension program, instead going to Michigan's state fund for “blight remediation,” which would allow the state to provide the same amount to Detroit. But the practical result is the same – the U.S. taxpayer getting stuck with part of the bill for Detroit's decades of foolish, unsupportable pension promises. In our current environment where billions and even trillions are common reference points, $100 million may seem like small potatoes. But the precedent set by such a bailout would be far-reaching and potentially devastating to the nation's already shaky financial health.
Why? Because Detroit is just one example of a major city with unsupportable public-employee pension obligations – in fact it's only number 10 on the list of the worst offenders. The top 10, in order of pension debt per capita: Chicago, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Columbus, Los Angeles, San Jose, San Diego, Denver and Detroit. Considering that public employees are among the most loyal and vocal of Democrat constituencies, the risk of political favoritism is obvious.
As if that's not alarming enough, consider that looming larger behind these cities are states with the same pension debt problems, led by California's estimated $170 billion sea of red ink (and that is the LA Times' “best case” estimate – the worst case is more than $500 billion). Note, that is not California's total debt; just its un-funded pension obligations. Barack Obama's home state of Illinois is next with more than $100 billion in un-funded pension debt. If the federal government begins handing out money to save major cities from their pension debts, you can bet the states will come begging soon after. And the worst pension shortfalls at the state level are concentrated, unsurprisingly, in blue states like California. As Mark Alexander wrote last year, it's no coincidence that Detroit is in the shape it's in.
Regardless of the politics of the cities or states in question, there is the larger question of why the ordinary taxpayer should have to bail out a public employee pension system. Why does a farmer in Idaho or a construction worker in Oklahoma have to fork over money to support a retired city worker in Detroit or Los Angeles? The great majority of Americans are private sector workers whose taxes have always supported the salaries of public employees in their state. Are they now to be forced to pay for the foolish retirement plans promised to state and local public employees?
Yet there is still some room for optimism in the public pension debt problem. In December the Illinois legislature passed a bill that would implement major reforms to the pension system, and did so in the face of enormous resistance from public-employee unions. Other states have also been forced into making difficult pension choices in recent years. But the temptation of seeking federal money to pay for local or state pension debt will always exist so long as the federal government is willing to provide it. Which makes Detroit an important test case in whether the government – meaning the taxpayers – have to rescue the fools from the consequences of their folly.

o PC Common Core (PatriotPost.us) - You'll notice a rather important principle missing in New York state Common Core standards being drafted for grades K-8 – the concept of Liberty. Under the section “Civic Ideals and Practices,” the draft reads, “Students will explore democratic principles such as dignity for all, equality, fairness, and respect for authority and rules, and how those principles are applied to their community.” However, as Education Action Group's Kyle Olson observes, “What happened to 'liberty'? You know, a word that actually appears in the Declaration of Independence? It's a word that means more than just about any other word in our national history. It refers to personal freedom, and the right of citizens to live their lives without the intrusion of tyrannical government.” Like the type of tyrannical government currently reigning over our vanishing republic. The draft adds, “Students will examine … how citizens can demonstrate respect for authority.” In leftist speak, that means teaching students to relinquish their rights under the guise of “equality” and “fairness” to undermine Rule of Law.

Also — consider this from American Thinker:  “For as long as Hillary Clinton has been on the national scene, she has left a path of destruction and wreckage in her wake that is both impressive and terrible to behold.  She is a testament to the extent of damage that can be done by one person determined to conquer everything before her in the quest for unlimited power and self-gratification.  The only prize left to her in American politics is the presidency, which she has always felt is hers by right.  Indeed, she would have attained it were it not for the upstart community organizer, a fellow admirer of Saul Alinsky, who spoke in volumes but said nothing.” (See also: More crimes committed by Hillary and the skeletons in her closet and The Hillary File at EarstoHear.net)

o Take Action: ‘LGBT’ IMPERIALISM: EXPORTING HOMOSEXUALITY, PERVERSION AND HIV/AIDS - By JEFF ALLEN - Family Watch International has produced a very powerful documentary entitled Cultural Imperialism: The Sexual Rights Agenda. Directed by Sharon Slater, this shocking exposť reveals how the Western nations, especially the United States, are undermining the AIDS prevention effort by linking it to the promotion of sexually deviant behaviors. Advancing the virulent homosexual agenda is what’s actually driving this devastatingly lethal effort. And as a result, millions have already died and will die — murdered by LGBT activism on a global scale.
The half-hour feature begins with these somber words: The AIDS pandemic is one of the most serious crises the world has ever faced. Since the beginning of the epidemic, more than 60 million people have contracted HIV, and nearly 30 million have died of AIDS-related causes. With close to 34 million people in the world now carrying the HIV virus and an estimated 2.7 million people newly infected each year, it’s clear the world has not figured out how to stop this disease. So why, despite the billions of dollars being poured into AIDS prevention have infection rates not significantly decreased? Dr. Edward Green, while director of the AIDS Prevention Research Project at Harvard, set out to answer this question and the international community did not like what he found. “If sexual behavior is changed in the direction of more monogamy and fidelity and more abstinence,” Dr. Green asserted, “it greatly brings down infection rates.”
...The documentary provides insight into how the Obama administration “blackmails” the poorer, developing countries into implementing laws and policies that advance hyper-sexualized “ethics” into their cultures by threatening to withhold aid. In fact, President Obama implemented an initiative in 2011 requiring all U.S. international agencies to make advancing LGBT rights a top priority. This new policy direction is also embedded into the AIDS prevention efforts.
Slater further argues that the Obama directive actually requires all U.S. agencies to pressure countries to not only legalize and destigmatize LGBT sexual behavior, but also to embrace the homosexual deathstyle.
“They were being blackmailed, bribed, and bullied into accepting sexual rights that run counter to their religious and cultural values,” Slater said.
During her tenure as Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, speaking on behalf of the president, stated, “The Obama Administration defends the human rights of LGBT people as part of our comprehensive human rights policy and as a priority of our foreign policy … gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights … the 3rd and perhaps most challenging issue arises when people cite religious or cultural values as a reason to violate or not to protect the human rights of LGBT citizens.”
… What is amazing is that these countries that are harassing us smaller countries. In these countries the rate of HIV/AIDS among the homosexual groups there, typified as MSMs (men who have sex with men), that rate is increasing. And not only so, it is said to be out of control. This is recorded in the scientific journals. And Richards is right. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control (CDC): “Men having sex with men” account for:  Only 2% of the population  60% of all new HIV infections And they are 44 times more likely to be infected with HIV.
...Sign the petition at www.StandForFamiliesWorldwide.org to stand against the cultural imperialism of the international LGBT agenda and all other types of sexual perversion. We must do whatever we can to fight for the lives of those that are needlessly dying as a direct result of our deviant, horribly misguided foreign policy.

o THE RELIGIOUS LEFT CONTINUES TO GET IT WRONG - BY BILL MUEHLENBERG - The difference between Christians on the left and right side of politics is fairly pronounced. While we are all one in Christ, unfortunately, there are plenty of areas of disagreement that can be found amongst believers. As I have written elsewhere, biblical Christianity ultimately transcends mere partisan politics, but we still live in the real world, and we will still find ourselves differing on many political and social issues. For more on that, see here: Religion and the Political Spectrum.
And these differences are often not so much on the issues themselves, but how we best deal with them. That is, both sides rightly care about things like poverty. But they come up with quite different solutions to the problem. For example, the religious left usually looks to socialist or statist solutions, while the religious right usually opts for a free market approach. Not only must these two approaches be assessed in terms of how they might or might not line up with Scripture, but they also should be assessed in terms of their efficacy. Do such proposals actually work? Do these preferred solutions actually help the problem, or make things worse? I speak to this further here: Christians and Foreign Aid.
Here I want to return to the big bang which occurred recently because of the incredibly bad decision making of the US World Vision. First they basically approved of homosexuality, then because of public pressure, they backflipped and went into damage control. I have already written extensively about all that.
But what this messy affair did once again highlight was the major differences between the religious left and the religious right. The lefties of course generally don’t have a problem with things like homosexuality, so they tended to support the original WV decision.
Conservatives on the other hand not only were greatly concerned about this rejection of God’s express commands about human sexuality, but the general leftist direction of this once great organization. So all sorts of debate erupted over all this, including plenty of fuzzy thinking from the left.
They came up with the usual silliness that we of a more conservative stance don’t care about the poor, and are hung up on issues of “personal morality” – things like homosexuality, abortion and the like. Consider what one religious lefty and WV defender had to say in this regard. He attacked conservative Christians this way:  However, they pulled out of giving to the poor as well, because that is what their religious culture expected as soon as gay marriage came into play. So what does gay marriage have to do with feeding the hungry, the poor, the children?
Now this is a pretty dumb comment, for a number of reasons. What is that about a “religious culture”? Excuse me, but how about simply taking seriously what God has revealed about his purposes for human sexuality? It is not some “religious culture” that is moving us here, but the clear teachings of Scripture on the issue of homosexuality.

o Patriots' Day - The Roots of the First American Revolution - By Mark Alexander - “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, go from us in peace. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!” –Samuel Adams (1776) ...Each year on April 19th, we honor the anniversary of Patriots' Day and the legacy of Liberty launched that day, which is our inspiration to this day. In doing so, we mark the opening salvo of the first American Revolution in 1775, and the first step toward the establishment of an eternal declaration of human Liberty, subordinating the rule of men to Creator-inspired Rule of Law. A quick search of Barack Hussein Obama’s White House website reveals not a single reference to this most notable date in the history of our nation. Undoubtedly the statist regime currently occupying the Executive Branch prefers to ignore this formative event, as the historic call to arms ultimately turned back a growing tide of tyranny. I invite you to share this brief treatise on the roots of the First American Revolution.

o New Emails Show Lois Lerner Was in Contact With DOJ About Prosecuting Tax Exempt Groups - By Katie Pavlich - According to new IRS emails obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request from Judicial Watch, former head of tax exempt groups at the IRS Lois Lerner was in contact with the Department of Justice in May 2013 about whether tax exempt groups could be criminally prosecuted for "lying" about political activity. "I got a call today from Richard Pilger Director Elections Crimes Branch at DOJ ... He wanted to know who at IRS the DOJ folk s [sic] could talk to about Sen. Whitehouse idea at the hearing that DOJ could piece together false statement cases about applicants who "lied" on their 1024s --saying they weren't planning on doing political activity, and then turning around and making large visible political expenditures. DOJ is feeling like it needs to respond, but want to talk to the right folks at IRS to see whether there are impediments from our side and what, if any damage this might do to IRS programs. I told him that sounded like we might need several folks from IRS," Lerner wrote in a May 8, 2013 email to former Nikole C. Flax, who was former-Acting IRS Commissioner Steven T. Miller's chief of staff. "I think we should do it – also need to include CI [Criminal Investigation Division], which we can help coordinate. Also, we need to reach out to FEC. Does it make sense to consider including them in this or keep it separate?" Flax responded on May 9, 2013.

o The next time a liberal tries persuade you that public education would improve if only the evil Republicans would give the schools more money, show them this simple, yet powerful chart: - BY STEVE STRAUB - Then show them this video that shows the true costs of public education: According to a new study by the Cato Institute, some of the nation’s largest public school districts are underreporting the true cost of government-run education programs. Cato Education Analyst Adam B. Schaeffer explains that the nations five largest metro areas and the District of Columbia are blurring the numbers on education costs. On average, per-pupil spending in these areas is 44 percent higher than officially reported. Districts on average spent nearly $18,000 per student and yet claimed to spend just $12,500 last year. There is no connection between more funding and better education results. Educational quality has suffered because of increased federal control over education.

o Benjamin Franklin - “This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.”

o 6 signs that you’re a liberal who is out of touch with reality - By Brian Carey -
   1. You think that George W. Bush caused the recent recession You’ve probably heard the narrative promoted by the wigglejaws on MSNBC: George W. Bush caused that terrible recession that we just experienced! Really? What, pray tell, did George W. Bush do to cause that recession? His signature economic legislation, including the Bush tax cuts, was passed in 2001. More tax cuts were passed in 2003. How did either of these laws cause a recession which began in 2007? The fact is this: a bunch of banks made stupid real estate loans. The real estate market crashed, and everything went sour. George W. Bush had nothing to do with it.
   2. You get your news from Jon Stewart. Jon Stewart is a funny guy. That’s the problem if you get your news from him. He’s a funny guy. He’s not a news anchor. He pretends to be one, of course, but that’s part of the act. Maybe you should consider getting your news from a news source instead of a comedian.
   3. You watch MSNBC. Maybe we should clarify the point that we just made above. If you give up watching Jon Stewart and switch to MSNBC, you’re basically just watching a 24-hour version of Jon Stewart without the comedy. Watch a legitimate news source.
   4. You’re still concerned about institutional racism. A black man is in the White House and Oprah Winfrey is a billionaire. Really, what are you worried about?
   5. You think that raising taxes improves the economy. Some liberals sputter the following nonsense: “Bill Clinton raised taxes back in the 1990′s and look how good the economy was back then!” It is true that Bill Clinton raised marginal tax rates, he was also a tax cutter. In fact, Bill Clinton cut taxes on the rich by eliminating the Luxury Tax. Bill Clinton cut the capital gains tax. Bill Clinton implemented welfare reform. There are several reasons that the economy was great back in the 1990′s. Raising taxes wasn’t one of them.
   6. You’re surprised that regulations on insurance companies are causing them to raise their premiums. If you’re an out-of-touch liberal, you probably think it’s pretty cool that ObamaCare mandates that insurance companies are required to cover “children” up to 26 years old. It may surprise you to learn, however, that the additional coverage is actually going to cost insurance companies money. And how will they raise that money? They’ll raise premiums, of course. Really. You didn’t see this coming?

o NAZIS, AMERICAN STYLE Exclusive: 'Obama has decided it's good to be the dictator' - By BURT PRELUTSKY - Still, there are people who insist that if you oppose Obama’s agenda, it means you’re a racist. A sane person just wants to shake them until the marbles in their head sound like castanets. Do they actually believe that if a white person – say Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton – had given us five years of rising debt, a stagnant economy, coddled our enemies, betrayed our allies and saddled us with a disastrous health care plan, we’d be donning our party hats and dancing in the streets? On the other hand, if Obama weren’t black, would so many Americans have ignored his promise in 2008 to destroy the oil and coal industries and to redistribute our wealth in ways reminiscent of Lenin and Stalin? Also, if he weren’t black, wouldn’t his vow to personally lower the ocean and heal the planet have been viewed as the ravings of a madman?
...In 2008, I wrote that the homosexuals who were invading church services and threatening those who had merely taken advantage of their First Amendment rights were not only fascist thugs, but cowards. I came to that conclusion because although the vote was fairly even among whites, the reason Prop 8 passed was because the black vote was overwhelmingly in favor of the bill. And yet, for all their moral outrage, the gays didn’t dare disrupt services in a black church or confront black business owners for fear of the physical consequences. No matter how often they get their way because of gutless judges and legislators, liberals are never content to rest on their laurels. Whether the issue is same sex marriage, abortions or unions, leftists never leave their jackboots at home. For instance, simply because Gov. Scott Walker had the temerity to oppose ever-increasing pensions for Wisconsin’s public service unions, he, his wife and his children all received death threats.

o 86M Full-Time Private-Sector Workers Sustain 148M Benefit Takers - By Terence Jeffrey - 86,429,000. That is the number of Americans who in 2012 got up every morning and went to work -- in the private sector -- and did it week after week after week. ... The liberal media has not made them famous like the polar bear, but they are truly a threatened species. It is not a rancher with a few hundred head of cattle that is attacking their habitat, nor an energy company developing a fossil fuel. It is big government and its primary weapon -- an ever-expanding welfare state. ... All told ... there were 151,014,000 who 'received benefits from one or more programs' in the fourth quarter of 2011. Subtract the 3,212,000 veterans, who served their country in the most profound way possible, and that leaves 147,802,000 non-veteran benefit takers. ... As more baby boomers retire, and as Obamacare comes fully online ... the number of takers will inevitably expand. And the number of full-time private-sector workers might also contract. Eventually, there will be too few carrying too many, and America will break.

o Obama proposed 442 tax increases since 2009 - By Allen West - According to Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), since taking office in 2009, President Barack Obama has formally proposed a total of 442 tax increases, according to their analysis of Obama administration budgets for fiscal years 2010 through 2015. The 442 total does not include the 20 tax increases Obama signed into law as part of Obamacare.

o Islam, 'Honor' Violence, and the Silence of the Progressives - By Jeff Jacoby - "HONOR DIARIES" might not be coming to a theater near you, at least not if CAIR gets its way. The award-winning documentary about "honor" violence against girls and women in much of the Muslim world was released last month in honor of International Women's Day, and it didn't take long for the Council on American Islamic Relations to slap its all-purpose "Islamophobic!" label on it. The film has been shown in dozens of venues, but CAIR has raised enough of a stink to get screenings cancelled on several college campuses, including the University of Michigan and the University of Illinois.
CAIR — a front group for Islamist extremism that masquerades as a civil rights organization (its first executive director, Nihad Awad, was an open supporter of Hamas) — is good at raising stinks. Last week Brandeis University caved in to demands that it rescind its offer of an honorary degree to Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a heroic defender of women's rights in the Islamic world. With a life story that reads like a screenplay, Ali has personally experienced many of the evils she fights, including genital mutilation, forced marriage, and savage "honor" crimes. Her remarkable accomplishments should easily merit the honor of any university that upholds reason and intellectual diversity. But Brandeis apparently has different priorities now, like giving CAIR and the Islamophobia-phobes a veto over honorary degrees.
...Why aren't more progressives passionate about these issues?
I put that question to Nazie Eftekhari, an immigrant from Iran and another of the women "Honor Diaries" focuses on. A successful Minnesota health-care entrepreneur, Eftekhari unhesitatingly describes herself as a "bleeding-heart liberal" and a longtime Democratic Party voter, loyalist, and fund-raiser. She is as mystified as I am.
"The biggest human-rights crisis of our generation is the treatment of women in Muslim-majority countries, and we've applied a gag order to ourselves," she replies with unmistakable distress. "We won't talk about it. Where are my fellow liberals? Where are the feminists?"
In theocratic Iran today, Eftekhari says, the legal age of marriage for girls has been lowered to 9. Men can now marry their adopted daughters. "How can President Obama, who has two young daughters, not be making a huge issue of this?" she wants to know. "It's not marriage, it's statutory rape."
Eftekhari can't understand why so many progressive voices fall silent on an issue she thinks they should be raising the loudest. And she has only contempt for anyone who thinks it progressive to snub those — like Ayaan Hirsi Ali — who so bravely speak out: "Ali needs no degree or honor from Brandeis; she is a guiding light for the women who respect and honor her. o WATCH: Foundry’s Genevieve Wood Demolishes White House’s Wage Gap Argument - By Katrina Trinko - In a CNN appearance today, Genevieve Wood, senior contributor to The Foundry, blasted the White House for promoting the myth that women are paid significantly less than men because of their sex, rather than their career or life choices. “Instead of celebrating” that men and women with similar jobs and levels of education make around the same, “the White House wants to portray this ‘war on women,’” Wood said on The Lead. “Young women today in metropolitan areas, for example, who are childless, single, young women are actually outperforming males in that same category all over the country,”
Wood said in her appearance with former White House communications director Anita Dunn. “But the problem with that is, they hear this kind of rhetoric that discourages young women.” “It makes them have a lack of confidence,” Wood added, “and frankly, prevents them from doing the one thing that would get them where they need to be, which is have the confidence to ask for a raise, to ask for the right starting salary. We ought to be celebrating where women are.”

o The Hillary Lying Virus Starts to Spread - by Geoffrey G. Fisher - “You know, I’m not sitting here like some little woman standing by my man, like Tammy Wynette,” Hillary said in 1992.  That’s right Hillary, at least Tammy Wynette was genuine.  And we are all familiar with Hillary’s corkscrew landing into Bosnia dodging sniper fire on a mission that was so secretive, it never happened.  Her response to being caught was, “I misspoke.”
...The original carriers of the lying virus among baby boomers were the Clintons.  Bill was first with his profession of fidelity towards his wife but that wore off as soon as Hillary started tripping over Bill’s conquests at the Executive Mansion in Little Rock, Arkansas.  But she also become infected, and proved to have contracted a more virulent strain of this affliction. Hillary becoming a modern day “Typhoid Mary” is a tragedy since her parents sent a brainy, blonde-haired, blue-eye doe to Wellesley College in the summer of 1965 only to have a ruthless creature emerge four years later ready to deceive the world for her own personal ambitions. Today’s pandemic is not biological but rather cultural.  A true medical crisis like the Influenza Pandemic of 1918-1919 killed approximately 30 million people, more than died in WWI.  Yet, the current Hillary pandemic may leave a more permanent mark on our nation if it is not eradicated soon.

o House Oversight GOP: Democrat Rep. Cummings behind IRS probe of True the Vote - By Todd Beamon - Republicans on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee accused the panel's senior Democrat on Wednesday of spurring the IRS investigation of True the Vote after the group filed its application for tax-exempt status in 2010. Rep. Darrell Issa, the panel's chairman, released emails showing that staff working for the ranking member, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, had communicated multiple times with the Houston-based group between August 2012 and last year.

o Lawmakers line up behind plan that dumps Electoral College without constitutional amendment - By AARON KLEIN - The National Popular Vote effort, which could see the 14 states with the largest populations decide the presidency, is more than halfway to its goal of legally bypassing the Electoral College established in the Constitution. ...The NPV campaign seeks to obtain the consent of the majority of the 538 votes in the Electoral College to award its electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote. Now 10 jurisdictions possessing 136 electoral votes are part of the plan, just over half of the 270 electoral votes needed to bring the National Popular Vote interstate compact into effect. The states will not be required to award their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner until the NPV has signed up enough states to garner 270 electoral votes. The NVP effort is fully partnered with a George Soros-funded election group, as WND was first to report.
...The NPV is run by individuals with a history of support for the Democratic Party, WND found. The Founding Fathers firmly rejected a purely popular vote to elect the president, because they wanted to balance the power of the larger and smaller states. The Electoral College was fashioned as a compromise between an election of the president by direct popular vote and election by Congress. Now the NPV effort could change the way Americans elect the president without amending the U.S. Constitution. The plan simply requires that enough states join through votes in their legislatures along with gubernatorial approval. It takes two-thirds of both the House and Senate to pass a constitutional amendment to repeal the Electoral College.
To bypass the constitutional amendment process, NPV minimizes the number of states that would need to agree. Instead, once enough states agree to allot their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner, the Electoral College becomes irrelevant. With the addition of Rhode Island to the NPV effort, the pact now has nine states plus the District of Columbia for a total of 136 of the 270 electoral votes needed. The other states signed up are Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, Vermont and California. NPV is partnered with FairVote, a project of the Soros-funded Center for Voting and Democracy that advocates for a national popular vote for president. o The Real ‘Divergents’: Young Adults Lead Defense of Traditional Marriage - by JONATHAN LIEDL - Millennials support God’s plan for family life at events, as well as through outreach and example.  ...From college campuses to city centers, young adults are defying their peers and standing up for the Catholic conception of marriage, through their words and their example, bucking dominant cultural trends. Michael Bradley is one of the emerging leaders of this “resistance movement.” While many of his fellow students were out celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a decidedly un-Catholic fashion, the University of Notre Dame senior was leading an event that would make the non-Irish eyes of Ireland’s patron saint smile: a conference devoted to the Catholic understanding of marriage.

o Make-up Sex Between Hillary and the Main Stream Media Has Begun - By Rodney Lee Conover  - Did you hear about it? Hillary Clinton and the Mainstream Media are getting back together! If you think the press was in the tank for candidate Barack Obama, brace yourself for will be the most unrestrained, duplicitous and sloppiest session of make-up sex the history of love affairs has ever known…
...Oh, who am I kidding – you probably know Hillary and the Mainstream Media already got back together – it’s not like I’m making some wild or brilliant prediction or anything. A good example is the deafening silence from the major media on what would be an explosive piece on political corruption linking former acting CIA chief Mike Morell’s incredible luck in private-sector employment to his equally incredible recent Benghazi hearing testimony.
...former acting CIA Director Mike Morell testifies to the House Intelligence Committee it was he who changed the Benghazi talking points, removing references to al Qaeda, “Islamic” militants and leaving out that most on the ground believed it was terrorists. Morell originally told Senators that it was the FBI, not himself at the CIA who changed the talking points, so he either lied at that time or lied under oath later. He then admitted removing evidence the CIA had warned the State Department prior to 9-11-12 of probable terrorist attacks on Benghazi. Yikes! Is it me, or does that make Hillary look bad? As in, not fit to be Secretary of State, Commander in Chief or even competent to play “Battleship” with my eight-year-old nephew?
Sharyl Attkisson, reporting on the hearings, says Morell went against his own agency on this point in defense of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s State Department. Ms. Attkisson was frozen out of reporting on Benghazi by CBS News – but big deal, right? Hey – whatever – she’s a right winger, bla bla…
Well, what is former acting CIA Director Mike Morell doing now? I’ll give you a hint: He retired from the CIA soon after his original explanations of Benghazi, shielding then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from her abject incompetency and public statements, gave cover to her bizarre hearing (‘What difference does it make?’) testimony and put distance between the murders and the 2012 re-election of Barack Obama.
Morell received several job offers and accepted more than one… Have you guessed? Exactly who is this babe on the cover of Vogue? Michael J. Morell is now a “national security analyst” for: CBS News! That’s right – the same CBS News that got rid of Sharyl Attkisson for doggedly reporting on the Benghazi attacks.
But that’s not all – with your editing of talking points, lying under oath (alleged!) and throwing your own agency under the bus to protect the Secretary of State who would be President – you’ll also get a book deal and a fantastic job at something called: “Beacon Global Strategies.” What is Beacon Global Strategies, you ask? It’s a “strategic advisory firm” founded by Hillary Clinton’s close friend (and longtime spokesperson) Phillippe Reines, who traveled to over 110 countries with the then-Secretary of State as part of her senior team. Just a coincidence, I guess.

o Americans are drowning in lies - By Alan Caruba - In the April 1st edition of The Wall Street Journal, an editorial took note of President Obama's announcement the previous day that sign-ups for Obamacare had passed seven million. "Suddenly ObamaCare is a roaring success, happy days are here again and liberals are euphoric, or claim to be. There are more than a few reasons to doubt this new fairy tale, not least the behavior of Senate Democrats running for re-election this year." I usually don't quote from other newspapers for the simple reason that most just repeat Obama's lies. To an old journalist, that's very depressing. It's depressing, too, to contemplate the list of Obama administration scandals, not the least of which is the September 11, 2012 attack on our Benghazi consulate that took the life of a U.S. ambassador and three security personnel. The claim that it was a spontaneous response to a video has been completely discredited.
...What historians will likely find astonishing is the way Hillary Clinton is the only person mentioned as the Democratic Party candidate for President in the 2016 elections. I find it distressing that former Governor Jeb Bush is being touted as the Republican choice. With the exception of Obama who defeated Hillary in the 2008 primaries, the U.S. has had a Bush or Clinton as President since 1989. We fought a Revolution to rid ourselves of such monarchies or in this case political dynasties. There's something fundamentally wrong with such lines of succession, but worse is the notion that the Democratic Party would even consider someone – Hillary Clinton – whose character, let alone her policies, have been so seriously flawed and documented for so long.

o Henry Hazlitt  - "The whole gospel of Karl Marx can be summed up in a single sentence: Hate the man who is better off than you are. Never under any circumstances admit that his success may be due to his own efforts, to the productive contribution he has made to the whole community. Always attribute his success to the exploitation, the cheating, the more or less open robbery of others. Never under any circumstances admit that your own failure may be owing to your own weakness, or that the failure of anyone else may be due to his own defects - his laziness, incompetence, improvidence, or stupidity."

o What Qualifies Hillary? (PatriotPost.us) - The panel of pundits on MSNBC's “Morning Joe” considered the question of the 2016 presidential election: What makes Hillary Clinton the most qualified person to be president? As the panel discussed Hillary's looming candidacy, conservative pundit Bill Kristol asked them all to articulate in one sentence what makes her more qualified than other female Democrats “that made it on their own.” The panel laughed off the question at first, but then none of them could really answer it. About all Chuck Todd could come up with in response was that Hillary traveled a lot and has a book coming out. They might as well have said, a la Nancy Pelosi, “We'll have to elect her president to find out what makes her qualified.”

o Holder Blasts 'Divisive Adversity' (PatriotPost.us) - A visibly angered Eric Holder spoke before Al Sharpton's National Action Network conference and blasted the “unprecedented, unwarranted, ugly and divisive adversity” he's had to deal with as attorney general. “What attorney general has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?” he asked, referring to Wednesday's heated House hearing. “What president has ever had to deal with that kind of treatment?” Well, writes National Review's Andrew Johnson, “Bush-era attorney general Alberto Gonzales faced calls for his impeachment during his time in the office.” Likewise, Reagan's AG Edwin Meese faced heavy contempt from Democrats. More to the point, Holder and Obama are two of the most divisive political figures in American history with their complete disregard for Rule of Law. That's hardly “unwarranted” adversity, and both should be thankful they haven't been impeached. Holder's insinuation that the treatment is race-based is absurd and outrageous.

o WE LOST TRUE NORTH: THE EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN THE U.S. NOT CAUSED BY GUNS OR KNIVES -By DEACON KEITH FOURNIER - A high school and an army base; places which should be known as places of safety, were turned into killing fields. A nation pauses, grieves and seeks to make sense of what seems to be a growing epidemic of violence. Efforts to point to guns as the cause of the problems at Fort Hood had become the rallying cry among some lawmakers. However, now the weapon was knives. So far, no-one has called for banning or restricting knives.
That is because this is not about guns or knives. We have lost our true north as a nation. Finding true north is indispensable for navigating on land, sea or air. That is why the expression is a metaphor. It is often used in self-improvement books or books on spirituality which seek to help the reader find meaning, purpose and direction in life.
We must again find our true north as a nation if we want to find the path to take out of this present darkness. That will require us to once again embrace the core conviction that every single human life has dignity. Human persons are created in the image of God. They have an inherent dignity precisely because of that fact — at every age and stage of their lives. This conviction once informed the moral infrastructure of the United States and the West.
This respect for every human life is grounded in the Jewish and Christian vision of the dignity of every human person. It once inspired us to hold a respect for every human life, whether that life be found in the first home of the womb, a wheelchair, a jail cell, a hospital room, a hospice, a senior center, a soup kitchen or on a refugee boat, as our highest public good.
...Some profound words were spoken by a little nun from India at the 1994 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. Her name was Mother Teresa. They need to be heard again in this hour of reflection. She spoke from a podium where her small stature could barely be seen. The power of those words caused the assembly of powerful people to sit in silence: "I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child — a direct killing of the innocent child — murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?"

Talking points for politicians - for calling or emailing:
(It is good to have a copy of the bill in front of you for reference.)
1. HD 4212 needs to be passed NOW. It can’t wait and linger in committee. Don’t let this girl die in DCF custody.
2. You are in the leadership. You can get this out of committee, on to the floor, and to the Senate.
3. This is NOT the “resolution” HD 4157 by Reps. Lombardo and Lyons that was filed in March. This is completely different. It orders that Justina be freed immediately to the custody of her parents. That’s what must be done.
4. It is not acceptable to give Justina to the custody of bureaucrats in Connecticut, and put her and her family through more physical and emotional trauma. She must be freed.
5. If there are particular issues with the text of the bill, that can be fixed.
6. There is no reason this can't be done quickly. The recent “upskirt” bill was filed and passed in one day. This is MORE important.
7. Tell them the whole nation is watching this.

o ARE THE BAD GUYS GETTING PANICKY? - By LEE DUIGON - “Using technology wisely,” blathers Humanist Manifesto II (see Humanism Humanist Manifesto II), one of the sacred scriptures of the ruling class, politicians and scientists can and will create an earthly paradise. If only we’d give up such antiquated, perverse luxuries as Christianity and limited government! Don’t we understand that these people are infinitely wiser than we can ever be? But that’s because those pesky critics are fooling us. Take them out of the picture, goes the Manifesto—how come left-wing dorks always have a “manifesto”?—and the rest of us will soon bow to the superior wisdom of our betters and let them run our lives.
Do we detect a note of panic here? Has it dawned on them that, although many of us are flabby and uninspired Christians, we’re not about to give it up on their say-so? That, although many of us make but rare use of our liberty, we want to keep it? They are perplexed by our lack of enthusiasm for their vision. It really bugs them that their arguments make such little headway—even with all the nooze media, Hollywood, and the massive monolith of public education on their side. You’d think they’d win it in a walkover: they certainly think so. Hobby Lobby, Chick-Fil-A, a handful of malcontents in Congress, a few pro-family organizations, and a rag-tag Continental Army crew of bloggers and talk radio hosts stubbornly resist Global Warming, gender choice, “gay rights,” and the rest of it. And the only answer The Wise can come up with is to throw ‘em all in jail? How can such inconsequential opposition halt the march of progress?
I comfort myself with the conviction that God is on His throne in heaven, the earth belongs to Him, and He will keep His promises—which do not include allowing the wicked to triumph forever. It’s also encouraging to think that, if this small opposition that they face today can give them this much trouble, what will happen when the whole world rises up against them? As surely, as inevitably, it will.

o Another Report Debunking 'Global Warming' (PatriotPost.us) - In January's State of the Union Address, Barack Obama declared, “The debate is settled. Climate change is a fact.” In February, John Kerry followed up by saying, “In a sense, climate change can now be considered another weapon of mass destruction, perhaps even the world's most fearsome weapon of mass destruction.” Hillary Clinton couldn't be left out, adding, “Climate change is a national security problem, not just an environmental problem.” And that's not to mention the incessant droning of Al Gore.
The Cato Institute's Roger Pilon, however, threw cold water on them, saying, “The dirty little secret is that we are now at 17 years and eight months of no global warming. Their models have failed year in year out.” Perhaps that's why climate alarmists have virtually stopped calling it “global warming” and opt instead for the more vague “climate change.”
Indeed, a new comprehensive report, “Climate Change Reconsidered II,” from the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change, concludes that climate change has far more to do with natural temperature cycles than manmade pollutants. Of course, that stands in stark contrast to the “official” UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change global warming report, which concludes, again, that climate change is real and very dangerous. Of course the UN's IPCC conclusions have more to do with their political agenda than climate change.
The NIPCC report, on the other hand, finds three basic things: Warming from greenhouse gases will be so negligible that discerning it from natural variations will be rather difficult; the effects of rising CO2 levels has been mostly positive for plants, animals and humans; and finally, the exceedingly high cost of “doing something” about all this through heavy-handed government regulation isn't worth it. Just remember, though, “the debate is settled.”

o Ice Cold Facts (PatriotPost.us) - The effects of man-made global warming are reaching epic proportions. Just how bad has it gotten? Consider this: The Great Lakes are still 52.9% ice-covered, which is 1,000% above the average. Dating back to 1980, no other year comes even close. Worse, according to NOAA measurements, “Global Sea Ice Extent is 959,000 above the 1981-2010 mean. That is ranked 4th for the day. And that is 4.61% above 'normal.'” Additionally, “Antarctic Sea Ice Extent is 1,403,000 above the 1981-2010 mean. That is ranked 1st for the day. And that is 23.74% above 'normal.'” It's also this young year's 30th daily record. Clearly, we've got work to do. Like stocking up on blankets.

o Robin Stirs up Nest on County Prayer (FRC.org) What's in a name? An awful lot, a judge says, if it's Jesus's. The courts decide a lot of things, but they won't have the final judgment on prayer! That's what Maryland Commissioner Robin Bartlett Frazier made clear last month after a judge put the brakes on opening Carroll County meetings in Jesus's name. After the American Humanist Association sued, a judge issued an injunction barring the county from offering sectarian prayers before conducting county business.
Two days later, Robin prayed anyway. "I'm willing to go to jail for it," she said. "I believe this is a fundamental right of America, and if we cease to believe that our rights come from God, we cease to be America. We've been told to be careful. But we're going to be careful all the way to communism if we don't start standing up and saying 'no,'" she said. Isn't that refreshing? After watching so many politicians tuck tail and run, Robin Frazier is standing up to these black-robed bullies! Obviously, we need to respect the courts and the rule of law, but there are times when we need to push back on a government that's out of control. We can all learn something from Robin Frazier: bowing to God is more important than bowing to political correctness.

o You Might Be a Conservative If... And Especially If...  - By Mark Alexander - As a follow-up to my profile on the attributes of contemporary liberals, “You Might Be a Liberal If…,” I offer this look at the attributes associated with today’s conservatives. ...You Might Be a Conservative If You… …know the difference between Rule of Law and rule of men – Liberty and tyranny. ...…respect and abide by the plain language of our Constitution. ...…refuse to allow the Democrat Leftists to sell out the Second Amendment by international treaty. …know that “gun free zones” are actually free-fire zones for mass murderers.
...…recognize that ideological socialists have hijacked the once-noble Democratic Party. ...…are aware of Barack Obama’s history as a lifelong Marxist. ...…abhor the oppression of our First Amendment rights to religious expression by DoD and other government agencies. …reject the Leftist assertion that “faith and politics don’t mix.” …know that the words “separation of church and state” do not appear in our Constitution, neither in text nor spirit. …understand that fatherhood is the foundation of Liberty. …stand firm in defense of Judeo-Christian principles when confronted with the homosexual agenda.
...…understand that the 14th Amendment does not authorize citizenship for “anchor babies” and their kinfolk. …believe that free enterprise always trumps socialism. …know that the near-economic collapse in 2008 was rooted in Democrat economic policies initiated by Bill Clinton in 1994. …know that America may one day look like Detroit if we continue to elect Democrat “leadership.” …know that the words “fundamentally transforming the United States of America” are a euphemism for “statist tyranny.”
...…see clearly the hypocrisy of Obama’s rhetoric about “income inequality” while he lives like a king on redistributed wealth. …reject classism and socialist class warfare. …acknowledge Barack Obama as the modern-day master of the “BIG Lie.” …are well aware that Obama’s outright lies about ObamaCare were politically calculated. …are not among the Left’s cadres of Earth worshipers. …reject the Left’s global warming hysteria and recognize the Left’s real agenda is regulating free enterprise. …are aware that recent evidence indicates the Earth may be cooling, not warming.
...…understand that “tolerance and diversity” are Leftist shorthand for “tyranny.” …recognize race-baiting political hustlers for what they are. ...…are aware that the GOP’s “establishment Republicans” are a key element in the Democrats' current “divide and conquer” strategy.

o 'Standing on the Throat of Our Economy' (PatriotPost.us) - It's no secret that Democrats want to raise the minimum wage this election year, or that they think it's a winning issue. So it was no surprise to hear Rep. George Miller (D-CA) blasting Republicans: “So what are the Republicans doing when they won't vote for the minimum wage?” he asked. “They're standing on the throat of our economy. Because the economy is sluggish and your wages are the key to the recovery, we have to increase those wages.” Actually, raising the minimum wage would hurt the economy, the reason why Republicans oppose it. The CBO says it will destroy 500,000 jobs and cost the economy $15 billion. In fact, 500 economists have urged Congress to not raise it by the proposed 40%. So who's standing on the throat of our economy?

o Samuel Adams, to John Pitts, 1776: "How strangely will the tools of a tyrant pervert the plain meaning of words!" (See the Progressive Political Correct Dictionary or Crafted terms of contradiction.)

o A Halo for Selfishness - By Thomas Sowell - Those unfamiliar with political rhetoric may not know that "special interests" mean people who support your opponents. One's own organized supporters -- such as labor unions supporting President Obama -- are never called "special interests." ...What Congressional Democrats and Republicans have in common is that they are all incumbents, and they all want to keep their jobs. Publicity is necessary to win elections, and incumbents get millions of dollars' worth of free publicity from the media. Incumbents can all pontificate in Congress and be covered by C-SPAN. They can get interviewed on network television, have their pictures in the newspapers, and send out mail to their constituents back home -- and none of this costs them a dime.
...Everything members of Congress do is done with an eye toward re-election. Any outsider who wants to challenge an incumbent at the next Congressional election has to pay hard cash to buy ads and arrange other forms of publicity, in order just to get some comparable amount of name-recognition, so as to have any serious chance of winning an election against an incumbent. Few people have the kind of money it takes for such a campaign, so they have to raise money -- in the millions of dollars -- to pay for what incumbents get free of charge. Campaign finance laws that restrict who can contribute how much money, who can run political ads, etc., are all restrictions on political challengers who have to buy their own publicity.
...The very high rate of incumbent re-elections, even while polls show the public disgusted with Congress in general, shows how well incumbents are protected. The media are accessories to this scam. So long as the information and opinions that reach the public are selected by mainstream media people, whom polls show to be overwhelmingly on the left, the left's view of the world prevails. Hence the great alarm in the media, and in equally one-sided academia, over the emergence of conservative talk radio programs and the Fox News Channel on television. No longer can the three big broadcast television networks determine what the public will and will not see, nor two or three leading newspapers determine what is and is not news. Nobody wants to give up that kind of power.

o Four Blood Moons – Let’s Stop the Hype - By Rev Michael Bresciani - While some things are more subtle than others, the scripture is quite clear. Here are just a few things that address the hype about the blood moon tetrads and those who espouse their importance.   Rather than create an argument for or against them I would call anyone to use the scripture to interpret the scripture. If one part is overemphasized to the exclusion of another, it is you that have succumbed to an error and you may be involved in a false ministry. Here is a short list, but be sure to do your homework as the Bereans did and check scripture against scripture.
...The blood moon tetrads may have some significance for the Jews, but they are not directly tied to scriptural prophecies. They are astronomical events that can be determined by ordinary science and math. To use them to predict anything is an extravagance bordering on the practice of astrology. Astrological prognostications are forbidden to all believers past, present or future. (De 18: 10-14)
The hype generated by the blood red moons has been good for booksellers. In a recent video I watched as one well known preacher spent hours talking up his package of books, CDs and study guides on the blood moons and offered it all at an exorbitant price that made me shudder.
...Two final points must be made on the blood moons. Firstly, the blood moon spoken of in scripture which is directly connected to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ could not possibly be the upcoming tetrads for the most obvious reasons.   The blood red moon of Christ’s return is accompanied by an earthquake, a total shrouding or blockage of the sun, the complete blocking out of the stars (Joel 3: 15) and is followed by the blowing of trumpets and final judgments. They are not astronomical events that any scientist or astronomer can predict, but are strictly interventional acts of God at an unspecified time in the future. They will be complete with the sign of Christ appearing in the sky for the entire world to see – no passing tetrad here.
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” (Mt 24: 29-31)

o Uninstall Firefox  Boycotts should be rare, but Mozilla’s intolerance calls for one. - By Dennis Prager - During the McCarthy era, the left (and not only the left) screamed when people were falsely charged with supporting Stalin and Communism, one of the greatest evils in human history. But the left also screamed when people who really did aid and abet Stalin were dismissed from their jobs. In other words, for those on the left who celebrate [Mozilla CEO Brendan] Eich's ouster, it was evil to deprive a man who supported Stalin of a job, but it is right to fire a man who supports the man-woman definition of marriage. Such is the left's moral compass.

o John Adams, Address to the Military, 1798 - “We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

o RECOVERING THE MEANING OF MARRIAGE - By ROBERT KNIGHT - Marriage is the only type of coupling capable of natural reproduction of the human race — a man and a woman. Children need mothers and fathers, and marriage is society’s way of obtaining them. ...After Massachusetts legalized homosexual “marriage” in 2004, the Catholic Church had to shut down its large adoption agency, and later in the District of Columbia. This denies orphans one of the best chances of being adopted in an intact household with a mother and father. Collateral damage. Shrug.
...Hijacking the moral capital of the black civil rights movement to turn a wrong into a “right” is part of a detailed strategy in the 1989 book “After the Ball,” by public relations experts Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen, who advised: “In any campaign to win over the public, gays must be portrayed as victims in need of protection so that straights will be inclined by reflex to adopt the role of protector.” They suggested branding people with traditional values as “haters” and “bigots.”
...In 1994, writer Michelangelo Signorile urged activists to “fight for same-sex marriage and its benefits and then, once granted, redefine the institution of marriage completely, to demand the right to marry not as a way of adhering to society’s moral codes but rather to debunk a myth and radically alter an archaic institution.” Contrast that with what Jesus said about marriage, reiterating God’s directive in Genesis: From the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother, and the two shall become one flesh.

o Take Action: Urge your Representative and Senators to Co-Sponsor the State Marriage Defense Act of 2014

o James Madison, Federalist No. 62, 1788 - "It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?"

o This CEO Made a Political Donation, Then Lost His Job Because Liberals Didn't Like It - By Rob Bluey - The chief executive of Mozilla resigned yesterday amid protests over his $1,000 donation in support of California’s Proposition 8, which defined marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Brendan Eich’s 2008 donation was first revealed two years ago while he was serving in a senior role at Mozilla. But it was after his appointment as CEO last month that half of Mozilla’s board quit and company employees publicly voiced their disapproval. Others launched a public campaign seeking his ouster. In the wake of yesterday’s news, Andrew Sullivan, a leading advocate for redefining marriage, said the episode “should disgust anyone interested in a tolerant and diverse society.”

o Take action: Obama's Circuit Court pick is a dangerous judicial activist Email your senators today and urge them to oppose Michelle Friedland's nomination to the U.S. Circuit Court for the Ninth Circuit. ...If confirmed to the Ninth Circuit, Friedland, who is 41 years old, would be at the top of the left's short list for the Supreme Court. Her writings and record show that she does not respect the role of the courts which is to apply the laws - not to re-write them. Her nomination should be opposed for any number of reasons (sources here - pdf)

o Op-ed: Charles G. Koch Responds to Baseless Leftist Attacks - By Daniel Doherty - The Left’s obsession with Koch Industries and the two brothers who founded it is almost surreal. Take, for example, the Senate Majority Leader. Virtually every time he speaks now he mentions the Koch brothers in some capacity, complaining incoherently about them and how they’re attempting to “buy America.” To accept his assertions at face value, in other words, is to believe that every problem in America is directly -- or tangentially -- related to Koch Industries. This is absurd.
Well aware of the Left’s crusade to soil the Koch brand, Charles G. Koch took to the pages of the Wall Street Journal to defend himself and his company. In his piece, he assails collectivists as lacking real ideas, “[promising] heaven but [delivering] hell,” and resorting to “character assassination.” He also provides some important facts about his company that the Left will no doubt dispute -- and scoff at, too. Nevertheless, here they are:
Rather than try to understand my vision for a free society or accurately report the facts about Koch Industries, our critics would have you believe we're "un-American" and trying to "rig the system," that we're against "environmental protection" or eager to "end workplace safety standards." These falsehoods remind me of the late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan's observation, "Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts." Here are some facts about my philosophy and our company:
Koch companies employ 60,000 Americans, who make many thousands of products that Americans want and need. According to government figures, our employees and the 143,000 additional American jobs they support generate nearly $11.7 billion in compensation and benefits. About one-third of our U.S.-based employees are union members.
Koch employees have earned well over 700 awards for environmental, health and safety excellence since 2009, many of them from the Environmental Protection Agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration. EPA officials have commended us for our "commitment to a cleaner environment" and called us "a model for other companies."
Our refineries have consistently ranked among the best in the nation for low per-barrel emissions. In 2012, our Total Case Incident Rate (an important safety measure) was 67% better than a Bureau of Labor Statistics average for peer industries. Even so, we have never rested on our laurels. We believe there is always room for innovation and improvement.
Far from trying to rig the system, I have spent decades opposing cronyism and all political favors, including mandates, subsidies and protective tariffs—even when we benefit from them. I believe that cronyism is nothing more than welfare for the rich and powerful, and should be abolished.
