Onto Pentecost (May 18, 2013): Baptism in the Holy Spirit - Acts 19:1-6 - ļAnd it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they  spake with tongues, and prophesied.

"For everyone that does evil hates the Light..."
The compassionate may know John 3:16. The compassionate who do not compromise with evil know what our Lord said in the same breath through verse 21.

o Jesus - John 3:16-21: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
o Ephesians 5:11: And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
o Colossians 2:4,8: And this I say, lest any man should beguile you with enticing words. Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
o Jeremiah 9:24: But let him that glorifies glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, says the LORD.
o Psalms 1: Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law does he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
o Jesus, John 15:18-19: If the world hate you, you know that it hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love his own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hates you

o French writer Alexis de Tocqueville, after visiting America in 1831, wrote, "I sought for the greatness of the United States in her commodious harbors, her ample rivers, her fertile fields, and boundless forests -- and it was not there. I sought for it in her rich mines, her vast world commerce, her public school system, and in her institutions of higher learning--and it was not there. I looked for it in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution -- and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits flame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because America is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great!"

o Milton Friedman – Freedom vs Tyranny & Misery (Video 8m24s) - EarsToHear.net summary: America started with a new government, a Declaration of Independence, a Constitution, where people were unrestrained and had freedom and full personal rein. However, although with good intentions, which are flawed none the less, restrictions and regulations were introduced, which are always easier to implement, but almost impossible to remove. It is easier to pass a law than to repeal a law. These restrictions and regulations become chains of restraint, laws we imposed on ourselves, mostly with good intensions. but still flawed. The initial objective is always good, but that doesn't mean the outcome is. ...Until 1928 total government spending, federal, state and local never exceeded 10% of its income, except in the Civil War and WWI.
...We've substituted individual responsibility for a false belief of social responsibility. Even though it may have been good people trying to do good, but trying to do good in a fundamentally flawed way. The welfare state is a prime example. It is one thing to help people out of your own pocket, but another thing to help people out of government's pocket. The fundamental flaw of the welfare state is the idea to do good with somebody else's money. Why is this wrong? Two ways. Nobody spends money as carefully as he spends his own.
New York City for example. An article said NYC could solve it's problems by doubling its money. Well, NYC has since quadrupled its money and the problems have gotten worse. That's cause and effect. You say spend more money. Whose money? All the money NYC gets from citizens. So you have more money being spent carelessly and less money being spent carefully. In the second place you cannot spend more money unless you get it. So the idea of helping others has the flawed means of force and coercion in obtaining that money. So the idea of doing good is destroyed by the flaws of waste and coercion. (Search YouTube for Milton Friedman to learn about economy and more.) See Mandating Charity for much more.

o Sound familiar? John Jay, First Supreme Court Chief Justice, President of Bible Society (AmericanMinute.com) John Jay was one of the Presidents of the Continental Congress. "In governments raised on the generous principles of equal liberty...rulers of the state are the servants of the people, and not the masters of those from whom they derive authority... The ungrateful despotism and inordinate lust of domination, which marked the unnatural designs of the British king and his venal parliament, to enslave the people of America, reduced you to the necessity of either asserting your rights by arms, or ingloriously passing under the yoke."
As Chief Justice of the State of New York, John Jay charged the Grand Jury of Ulster County, September 8, 1777: "The infatuated sovereign of Britain, forgetful that kings were the servants, not the proprietors, and ought to be the fathers, not the incendiaries of their people... What...can appear more unworthy of credit than...a prince should arise who, by the influence of corruption alone...to reduce three million of his most loyal and affectionate subjects to absolute slavery...binding them in all cases whatever, not even excepting cases of conscience and religion?...

o Which Vision for America Will Our New College Graduates Embrace? by BURT - Students all over the country are graduating from college this month. Two commencement addresses at these graduations are worth noting because they illustrate the two major but very different visions for our country: first is the constitutional vision of limited government, and second is the statist vision that looks to government to solve problems.

o Crisis, Scandal and Tyranny (PatriotPost.us) - [It is] no small irony that Obama delivered a commencement address at Ohio State University two weeks ago, where he counseled graduates, "Unfortunately, you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn ... that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices." Reject them, he says -- because they're telling the truth.

o Education dictates more like 'Communist Core' PHYLLIS SCHLAFLY — The national news media haven't discovered it, but the issue that is bringing out hundreds of citizens who never before attended political meetings is Common Core (CC). More precisely, it is the attempt of Barack Obama's Department of Education to force all states and schools to adopt specified national education standards for each grade level that will dictate what all kids learn and don't learn...

o John Adams, Novanglus Essays, No. 3. - "Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people."

o Reports: IRS spared liberal groups as tea party languished, more conservative orgs targeted than first thought GUY BENSON — Remember what we were told when this explosive story first broke less than a week ago? The IRS official in charge of tax exemptions for organizations said the improper methods employed within her division were executed by "low level workers" in Cincinnati who weren't motivated by "political bias," and impacted roughly 75 organizations?..

o An open letter to the Supreme Court of the United States of America SUBMITTED BY A FRIEND OF RENEWAMERICA — We the People, by the authority vested in us by the Declaration of Independence and secured as unalienable rights by the laws of the U.S. Constitution, do hereby respectfully request the Supreme Court of the United States uphold and defend the self-evident truths by which our authority as a nation is founded.
...It is not plausible for the U.S. Constitution to reflect ever-"evolving" philosophies that are contrary to self-evident truths. Whether or not a philosophy, a set of tenets, or a worldview are reflective of what mankind knows to be universal truths in the laws of nature and in the laws of the universe is the standard by which our civil society rests. The problem in the LGBT discrimination rationale is that the self-evident truths recognized in traditional religions and philosophies, and which underlie our Constitution, exist outside of their opinion, just as do the laws of gravity — and the definition of the word "gravity."
To rewrite the definition of the word marriage based on Secular Humanism's "evolving religious belief system" would be a violation of the establishment of religion clause and therefore an unconstitutional promotion of a "particular" religious belief. Until such evolution concludes, laws cannot be set with no concrete rational basis for making decisions other than a "theoretical" set of tenets opposite to those upon which our Constitution was founded. Merely denying that self-evident truths exist does not meet the standard of scrutiny that our laws have undergone in the last 200 years.

o Sign the "I Support The Boy Scouts' Ban" petition Wednesday, May 22, could go down as the most important date in the history of the Boy Scouts of America. The Petition States:  As a concerned American, I urge the Boy Scouts of America to reject efforts to remove the national membership and leadership restrictions regarding sexual orientation. For generations, the Boy Scouts have enjoyed a storied history of building character and instilling lifelong values that help foster a conscientious, responsible and productive society. I implore the BSA to stand firm against this aggressive effort within its ranks to force a homosexual agenda on the Scouts that would have devastating and far-reaching consequences to this proud organization.

o Pension time bombs ready to detonate in US cities? FoxNews Video 3m42

o Michigan Judge Says It’s Ok for Muslim Violence Against Christians by Dave Jolly - If you want to experience the Middle East, you only have to travel as far as Dearborn, Michigan.  This western suburb of Detroit has a population of close to 100,000.  Over 40,000 of them are Arab or of Arab descent, giving Dearborn the distinction of having the largest Muslim population of any city in the United States. The Muslims have been taking over many of the cities elected positions and have instituted many Muslim friendly ordinances.
In fact the Muslim influence is so strong in Dearborn that the local high school held a girl’s only prom, since their religion does not allow girls and boys to dance or socialize together.  If any other school in America did something similar based on Christian or Jewish beliefs, the ACLU and other groups would be circling the school waiting their turns to file lawsuits for violation of church and state.  But these legal groups were nowhere to be seen in Dearborn. Every year around June, the Muslim community holds an annual Arab Festival
For several years, some of the Christian pastors and their followers have stood outside the festival trying to hand out water bottles and tracts as they witness to the lost.  A number of the Muslims have responded with violence, throwing garbage, rocks and other items at the Christians.  When the police showed up, they made arrests, but it wasn’t the ones carrying out the violence that were arrested, it was the Christians.
...Several of the Christian pastors filed a lawsuit against Wayne County, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and two of deputies for refusing to protect them from the Muslims that were attacking them.  The deputies not only refused to protect them, they threatened to arrest them for disorderly conduct if they continued talking about Jesus and the Bible in the presence of the Muslims.  Such talk was deemed to be offensive to the Muslims who felt justified in responding with violence.
On Tuesday, US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan Judge Patrick J. Duggan dismissed the lawsuit when they granted the county’s motion for a summary judgment. The American Freedom Law Center argued the case before Duggan and also asked that the court bar the sheriff’s department from violating the Christian’s First Amendment rights of free speech and religion by interfering with their right to gather on public property outside the festival.  In typical liberal fashion, Duggan refused to the motion.
In his ruling, Duggan stated: “The Court finds that the actual demonstration of violence here provided the requisite justification for [the Wayne County sheriffs’] intervention, even if the officials acted as they did because of the effect the speech had on the crowd.” In other words, the Christians were at fault and that the violent reaction of the Muslims was justified and the cops acted appropriately in arresting the Christians.

o EPA ALSO TARGETING CONSERVATIVES, IT'S NOT JUST THE IRS By Michael Bastasch - According to EPA records obtained by the free market Competitive Enterprise Institute, since January 2012 the agency has granted fee waivers for 75 out of 82 Freedom of Information Act requests sent by major environmental groups, denying only seven of them — meaning green groups saw their fees waived 92 percent of the time. At the same time, the EPA frequently denied fee waivers to conservative groups. EPA records show that the agency rejected or ignored 21 out of 26 fee waiver requests from such conservative groups as the Competitive Enterprise Institute, the Institute for Energy Research, and Judicial Watch — an 81 percent rejection rate.

o The bipartisan folly of our Islam delusion By Michael Youssef - Some misguided Republicans and Democrats who think that the ideology of Islam can be rehabilitated and made compatible with Western Christian values.

o Obama's 'Enemies List' -- Tyranny in Action -- IRS Target of Opportunity By Mark Alexander - "Of those men who have overturned the liberties of republics, the greatest number have begun their career by paying an obsequious court to the people, commencing demagogues and ending tyrants." --Alexander Hamilton (1787) ...If you asked me whether I thought card-carrying members of the Socialist Democratic Party would, by way of their bureaucratic surrogates, use the IRS and other government agencies to target groups with the name "Patriot," I would have said, "Of course." If you asked me whether I thought they would get caught at it, I would have said "No," because they're smart enough to use "cutouts" between their office and the bureaucrats committing the offense. Cutouts are bureaucratic managers who act as surrogates to do the political bidding of elected officials. They are blamed and sacrificed for the "good of the cause," in order to protect (read: "provide plausible deniability for") elected officials who feign outrage and indignation at the violation of law in support of their political agenda. When the president of the United States is the elected official behind a culture of corruption and abuse of power, the layers of cutouts make it nearly impossible to find impeachable evidence of executive collusion.

o Obamacare Is About Power By Jim DeMint - Obamacare taxes most people with health insurance, and most people without health insurance. Likewise, the law taxes many employers who provide health insurance, and most employers who don’t provide health insurance. Obamacare’s heavy reliance on the IRS seems somehow fitting, as the entire law relies on a scheme of government controls and regulations to work its will on the health care system. The law imposes price controls on insurance companies and extends a system of price controls for pharmaceutical companies. Obamacare also places a board of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats at the center of its plans to control health care costs. A 2010 Congressional Research Service report found that the number of new bureaucracies “that will ultimately be created” by Obamacare “is currently unknowable.” Little wonder that Vice President Biden boasted shortly before the law was passed, “We’re going to control the insurance companies.” That’s what Obamacare is about. It’s not about health care. It’s about government control and power. And the record of this Administration shows its willingness to use this power in arbitrary and harmful ways.

o THE PULPIT OF AMERICA: A WHISPER OR A ROAR? By Dana Sleger - We live in a culture where celebrities are worshipped, and their destructive behavior is mimicked. We live in a culture where the political system is made up of puppets on strings of compromise controlled by the master of deception. We live in a culture where any form of idolatry, particularly the multi-billion dollar pornography industry, rules in hearts of all ages. We live in a culture where worldviews are shaped by the agenda-setting voice of the media. Sadly, we also live in a culture where the pulpit has become a funnel of watered down messages — a far cry from how the pulpit of the colonial days operated with passionate conviction.
... In a recent interview, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) William G. “Jerry” Boykin, executive vice president of Family Research Council, discussed the critical importance of pastors firmly addressing social issues in America instead of retreating to a compromised position that ignores frontline matters: "It is my absolute firm belief that America is in the shape that it’s in today because of the Church in America. And that is because the Church has compromised on almost every issue. The Church has not been the salt and light. The Church has not been what the early Church in America was and what the Church today should be according to God’s expectations of the Body of Christ. The Church is in a compromised position.
...There are such complex issues in America today. It’s become very clear that government can’t answer those issues, the government can’t solve it, the government can’t fix it. There’s only one answer and that is found in the scripture that’s found in the pulpits. So the pastors who are preaching messages that resonate as being truthful, whether they want to preach them or not, when they get up and preach these hard sermons and they talk about social issues and they talk about the direction of the nation, and more importantly, they talk about the obligation of Christians to get involved in what’s going on, what they are finding is they lose a few, but then they gain more in the aftermath because people are migrating to where the truth is being spoken."
...Charles G. Finney, a revivalist, reformer and one of the leaders in the Second Great Awakening, was well aware the condition of the pulpit would determine the condition of the nation: "Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation."

o Obamacare Tax Dollars Pouring Into ACORN, MoveOn, LaRaza…  By Sara Noble - Your Obamacare tax money is being poured into community organizations so they can enroll the uninsured in Obamacare. The obvious end-result is that they will enroll people into the Democratic Party as well. The Senate immigration bill does the same thing. It pays community organizations to educate immigrants on their path to citizenship and to the Democratic Party. Sebelius did an end-run around Congress last week and solicited funds from organizations like Enroll America to help publicize Obamacare. Enroll America management is purely political. President Anne Filipic is a White House insider who networks with community organizers. She was a DNC official before she worked on Obama’s 2008 campaign in Iowa. She manages messaging for the very community organizations who are taking our money – ACORN (exposed as corrupt but still functioning), LaRaza (the radical open borders group) and MoveOn (a radical socialist organization) are some of them.
Filipic also manages the messaging for 39 Democratic members of Congress. Obamacare requires these far-left community organization be hired as “navigators” to enroll the uninsured. Union members are also being hired as navigators and we know where they stand. Please read about this at Investors Business Daily The corruption doesn’t stop there. Community Organizations like ACORN are also involved in taking our money to set up Obamacare CO-OPs. Obamacare allows for the establishment of Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP).  A CO-OP is a federal program created to assist in the development of non-profit, member-run health insurance issuers. The issuers will offer qualified health plans in the individual and small group markets. Organizations participating in CO-OP programs must be non-profit entities. Once formed at great expense to the taxpayer, they can put the co-op into the healthcare exchange to compete even though it is known they can’t compete.

o ObamaCare's Billions In Hidden Pork For Unions By IBD EDITORIALS - (Don't miss the chart at link.)  Health Reform: How do you funnel billions of dollars to your union pals at a time when the government is running record deficits? Easy, you just tuck the money into ObamaCare. According to a new Government Accountability Office report, the federal government has so far handed out $2.7 billion out of a $5 billion program squirreled away in ObamaCare.
The Early Retiree Reinsurance Program is advertized as a way to "stabilize the availability of employer-sponsored coverage for early retirees," according to a Health and Human Services memo. The argument goes that companies are increasingly dropping retiree health benefits, leaving those who retire before becoming eligible for Medicare in a jam — either they face exorbitant rates for insurance or expose themselves to potentially catastrophic health costs.
The little-noticed ObamaCare program was supposed to encourage companies to continue offering this benefit until 2014 — when ObamaCare fully kicks in and will solve everything — by reimbursing companies for a chunk of their retiree health costs.
But lift the hood a little and this program looks more like a slush fund for Friends of Democrats. Almost as soon as the program was announced, thousands of well-connected unions and government agencies rushed in to apply for the free money. As a result, the agency running the program had to stop accepting applications in May or risk running out of funds.
And just look at who made the cut. According to figures obtained by IBD, 10 of the top 12 recipients are either unions or public employee groups. In fact, the biggest single recipient was the UAW Retiree Medical Benefits Trust, which alone grabbed more than 8% of all the funds handed out so far. Other union beneficiaries include the United Food and Commercial Workers, the United Mine Workers and the Teamsters.
Meanwhile, almost half of the money doled out has gone to state and local governments, the GAO found. Other big beneficiaries are giant companies such as AT&T and Verizon that, combined, have received more than a quarter-billion dollars under the program. The problem is that these groups are the least likely to drop their retiree health benefits, calling the lie to the Obama administration's whole "stabilizing" excuse.
In fact, over the past 10 years, the share of state and local governments offering retiree benefits increased — climbing to 83% from 80% in 2001, according to an annual Kaiser Family Foundation health benefits survey. That's at a time when private companies have been dropping retiree health plans to cut costs, with the share of large firms offering such benefits falling to 26% this year from 37% in 2001, the Kaiser survey shows.
So this ObamaCare money is really being used mainly to pay off unions and governments that would have provided these benefits anyway.
While the law forbids employers from using the funds for anything other than retiree health costs, money is fungible, freeing up union and government resources for other uses like, say, helping Obama get re-elected. Even if the government weren't running record deficits and drowning in debt, wasting billions of dollars like this would be unacceptable. But with the country on the fiscal edge, it's an outrage. Is anyone on the debt-reduction "supercommittee" paying attention?

o IRS Official in Charge During Tea Party Targeting Now Runs Health Care Office By John Parkinson ABC News - Sarah Hall Ingram served as commissioner of the office responsible for tax-exempt organizations between 2009 and 2012. But Ingram has since left that part of the IRS and is now the director of the IRS’ Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) office, the IRS confirmed to ABC News today.
...As the House voted to fully repeal the Affordable Care Act Thursday evening, House Speaker John Boehner expressed “serious concerns” that the IRS is empowered as the law’s chief enforcer. “Fully repealing ObamaCare will help us build a stronger, healthier economy, and will clear the way for patient-centered reforms that lower health care costs and protect jobs,” Boehner, R-Ohio, said. “Obamacare empowers the agency that just violated the public’s trust by secretly targeting conservative groups,” Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-Ind., added. “Even by Washington’s standards, that’s unacceptable.”
Sen. John Cornyn even introduced a bill, the “Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013,” which would prohibit the Secretary of the Treasury, or any delegate, including the IRS, from enforcing the Affordable Care Act. “Now more than ever, we need to prevent the IRS from having any role in Americans’ health care,” Cornyn, R-Texas, stated. “I do not support Obamacare, and after the events of last week, I cannot support giving the IRS any more responsibility or taxpayer dollars to implement a broken law.”
...UPDATED: IRS Tax Exemption/Obamacare Exec Got $103,390 in Bonuses; Did Obama OK them? Sarah Hall Ingram, the IRS executive in charge of the tax exempt division in 2010 when it began targeting conservative Tea Party, evangelical and pro-Israel groups for harassment, got more than $100,000 in bonuses between 2009 and 2012. More recently, Ingram was promoted to serve as director of the tax agency's Obamacare program office, a position that put her in charge of the vast expansion of the IRS' regulatory power and staffing in connection with federal health care, ABC reported earlier today.
Ingram received a $7,000 bonus in 2009, according to data obtained by The Washington Examiner from the IRS, then a $34,440 bonus in 2010, $35,400 in 2011 and $26,550 last year, for a total of $103,390. Her annual salary went from $172,500 to $177,000 during the same period. The 2010, 2011 and 2012 bonuses were awarded during the period when IRS harassment of the conservative groups was most intense. The newspaper obtained the data via a Freedom of Information Act request. Bonuses as large as those awarded to Ingram typically require presidential approval, according to federal personnel regulations. The largest of such awards, however, require presidential approval, according to the Office of Personnel Management, which oversees the federal civil service workforce.

o Inventor of ADHD: “ADHD is a fictitious disease” by Moritz Nestor - The alarmed critics of the Ritalin disaster are now getting support from an entirely different side. The German weekly Der Spiegel quoted in its cover story on 2 February 2012 the US American psychiatrist Leon Eisenberg, born in 1922 as the son of Russian Jewish immigrants, who was the “scientific father of ADHD” and who said at the age of 87, seven months before his death in his last interview: “ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease” (Blech, Jörg: Schwermut ohne Scham. In: Der Spiegel, Nr. 6/6.2.12, p. 122–131, p. 128.)
...It is this issue that the American psychologist Lisa Cosgrove and others investigated in their study Financial Ties between DSM-IV Panel Members and the Pharmaceutical Industry7. They found that “Of the 170 DSM panel members 95 (56%) had one or more financial associations with companies in the pharmaceutical industry. One hundred percent of the members of the panels on ‘Mood Disorders’ and ‘Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders’ had financial ties to drug companies. [...]
The connections are especially strong in those diagnostic areas where drugs are the first line of treatment for mental disorders.”8 In the next edition of the manual, the situation is unchanged. “Of the 137 DSM-V panel members who have posted disclosure statements, 56% have reported industry ties – no improvement over the percent of DSM-IV members.” (DSM Panel Members Still Getting pharma funds. URL: http://www.cchrint.org/tag/lisa-cosgrove/ [8.2.2012 23:21:29])
“The very vocabulary of psychiatry is now defined at all levels by the pharmaceutical industry,” said Dr Irwin Savodnik, an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California at Los Angeles.10 This is well paid. Just one example: The Assistant Director of the Pediatric Psychopharmacology Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School received “$1 million in earnings from drug companies between 2000 and 2007”. (Cf. http://www.cchrint.org/tag/lisa-cosgrove/)
In any case, no one can easily get around the testimony of the father of ADHD: “ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease.” The task of psychologists, educators and doctors is not to put children on the “chemical lead” because the entire society cannot handle the products of its misguided theories of man and raising children, and instead hands over our children to the free pharmaceutical market. Let us return to the basic matter of personal psychology and education: The child is to acquire personal responsibility and emphatic behavior under expert guidance – and that takes the family and the school: In these fields, the child should be able to lead off mentally. This constitutes the core of the human person.

o Did Coolidge predict Gov't abuse? - 'having authority over everybody and being responsible to nobody' By William J. Federer, American Minute - On MAY 15, 1926, President Calvin Coolidge warned in a speech given in Williamsburg, Virginia at the College of William and Mary: "But there is another...recent development... the greatly disproportionate influence of organized minorities.
Artificial propaganda, paid agitators, selfish interests, all impinge upon members of legislative bodies to force them to represent special elements rather than the great body of their constituency. When they are successful, minority rule is established..."
Coolidge explained: "The result is an extravagance on the part of the Government which is ruinous to the people and a multiplicity of regulations and restrictions for the conduct of all kinds of necessary business, which becomes little less than oppressive..."
Coolidge continued: "No plan of centralization has ever been adopted which did not result in bureaucracy, tyranny, inflexibility, reaction, and decline. Of all forms of government, those administered by bureaus are about the least satisfactory to an enlightened and progressive people. Being irresponsible they become autocratic..."
Coolidge warned further: "Unless bureaucracy is constantly resisted it breaks down representative government and overwhelms democracy. It is the one element in our institutions that sets up the pretense of having authority over everybody and being responsible to nobody..."   Coolidge added:  "We must also recognize that the national administration is not and cannot be adjusted to the needs of local government...
The States should not be induced by coercion or by favor to surrender the management of their own affairs. The Federal Government ought to resist the tendency to be loaded up with duties which the States should perform. It does not follow that because something ought to be done the National Government ought to do it...   I want to see the policy adopted by the States of discharging their public functions so faithfully that instead of an extension on the part of the Federal Government there can be a contraction..."
Coolidge concluded: "The principles of government have the same need to be fortified, reinforced, and supported that characterize the principles of religion. After enumerating many of the spiritual ideals, the Scriptures enjoin us to 'think on these things.'"

o Get a FREE copy of “Negroes in the American Army of the Revolution” by George H. Moore - It has been estimated that at least 5,000 black soldiers fought on the patriot side during the Revolutionary War. The exact number will never be known because eighteenth century muster rolls usually did not indicate race. Careful comparisons between muster rolls and church, census, and other records have recently helped identify many black soldiers. Additionally, various eyewitness accounts provide some indication of the level of African Americans’ participation during the war.
Baron von Closen, a member of Rochambeau’s French army at Yorktown, wrote in July 1781, “A quarter of them [the American army] are Negroes, merry, confident and sturdy.” The use of African Americans as soldiers, whether freemen or slaves, was avoided by Congress and General Washington early in the war. The prospect of armed slave revolts proved more threatening to white society than British redcoats. General Washington allowed the enlistment of free blacks with “prior military experience” in January 1776, and extended the enlistment terms to all free blacks in January 1777 in order to help fill the depleted ranks of the Continental Army. o IRS faces class action lawsuit over theft of 60 million medical records California HIPAA-covered entity sues big time By Erin McCann - The Internal Revenue Service is now facing a class action lawsuit over allegations that it improperly accessed and stole the health records of some 10 million Americans, including medical records of all California state judges. According to a report by Courthousenews.com, an unnamed HIPAA-covered entity in California is suing the IRS, alleging that some 60 million medical records from 10 million patients were stolen by 15 IRS agents. The personal health information seized on March 11, 2011, included psychological counseling, gynecological counseling, sexual/drug treatment and other medical treatment data.

o Watergate-era Judiciary chief of staff: Hillary Clinton fired for lies, unethical behavior Published by: Dan Calabrese - ...Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.” ...At that time Hillary Rodham was 27 years old. She had obtained a position on our committee staff through the political patronage of her former Yale law school professor Burke Marshall and Senator Ted Kennedy. Eventually, because of a number of her unethical practices I decided that I could not recommend her for any subsequent position of public or private trust. Her patron, Burke Marshal, had previously been Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights under Robert Kennedy. During the Kennedy administration Washington insiders jokingly characterized him as the Chief counsel to the Irish Mafia. After becoming a Yale professor he also became Senator Ted Kennedy’s lawyer at the time of Chappaquidick-as well as Kennedy’s chief political strategist. As a result, some of his colleagues often described him as the Attorney General in waiting of the Camelot government in exile.

o Soros Gave $6.1 Million to Groups Linked to Pressure on IRS to Target Conservative Nonprofits By Mike Ciandella - Several Soros-funded groups including the Campaign Legal Center, Democracy 21, the Center for Public Integrity, Mother Jones and Alternet have worked to pressure the IRS to target conservative nonprofit groups. The subsequent IRS investigation flagged more than 100 tea party-related applications for higher scrutiny, including applications that included the words "Tea Party" and "patriot." The IRS scandal can be traced back to a series of letters that the liberal groups Campaign Legal Center (CLC) and Democracy 21 sent to the IRS back in 2010 and 2011. Both groups were funded by George's Soros's Open Society Foundations. The CLC received $677,000 and Democracy 21 got $365,000 from the Soros-backed foundation, according to the Foundation's 990 tax forms. The letters specifically targeted conservative Super PACs like Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, asking the IRS to scrutinize them more thoroughly to determine whether or not they should retain their tax-exempt status.

o Report: Obama’s Half-Brother Gets "Sweetheart Deal" From IRS - In light of the recent revelations that the IRS has been unfairly targeting conservative groups, Fox and Friends examined reports that President Obama's half-brother “got a sweetheart deal” from the IRS. Steve Doocy pointed out that some Tea Party groups waited three years to get tax-exempt status, yet Abongo ‘Roy’ Malik Obama got it for his charity in one month! “He had a 501(c) status retroactive to 2010 even though he submitted the proposal in May of 2011! That is some good action,” Brian Kilmeade chimed in.

o Federal government creates more low-wage jobs than Wal-Mart By Mark Koba CNBC -  The federal government is better at creating low-paying jobs than Wal-Mart and McDonald's combined, according to a new report. A study released earlier this month from the public policy group Demos states that through various forms of government funding in the private sector, nearly two million people are making $12 an hour or less. The number of workers at Wal-Mart and McDonald's together at $12 an hour or less is currently around 1.5 million, according to the report.
...The biggest offenders came from those companies receiving direct federal contracts. Some 560,000 workers in those firms make $12 an hour or less, says the report. Breaking down the sectors in all government funding shows retail— with 59,977 people making $12 an hour or less—the largest group with low wages. "This is another example of our low-wage economy," said Jason Bent, a professor of employment law at Stetson University. "Private companies with government contracts are doing the same thing as those that don't have contracts. They're paying low wages to cut costs."

o Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Charles Hammond, 1821 - "The germ of dissolution of our federal government is in the constitution of the federal judiciary; an irresponsible body, (for impeachment is scarcely a scare-crow) working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief, over the field of jurisdiction, until all shall be usurped from the States, and the government of all be consolidated into one."

o 1/3 Population of Puerto Rico Gets Food Stamps from U.S. Gov’t -- $2 Billion in 2012 By Elizabeth Harrington - The federal government spent more than $2 billion to provide food stamps to Puerto Rico in 2012, up to 25 percent of which is untraceable because it is distributed in cash and there is “no way to verify that funds are spent on food,” according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The funds are used to supply more than one-third of the population of Puerto Rico with food stamps. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP) for Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States, received $2 billion in Nutrition Assistance Block Grants in fiscal year 2012.

o Killing the Messenger: When Truth Is Blasphemous Political Correctness Will Be Our Demise By Louis DeBroux - It is truly frightening to see the level to which political correctness has infected the minds of the American people, instilling in us fear to speak out against obvious lies and insane policies lest we be labeled as a racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, xenophobe, or some other form of menace to civil society.
... Each day, we are treated to more and more news stories in which truth is not only ignored, but actively shunned, with those proclaiming truth castigated and hunted down with verbal pitchforks by the angry liberals of the social and media elite.
... These behaviors are destructive to society and to us as individuals. Just because we blithely ignore the truth does not mean that the consequences won't find us.
... For those of us who embrace biblical Christianity and traditional morality, we must be active defenders of that faith, and of our freedom to express it publicly and privately. We can and should treat those that disagree with us with dignity and respect, even as we challenge their erroneous positions. We can, as they say, disagree without being disagreeable. But a failure to defend these principles means capitulation and defeat without a fight, and all of the damaging consequences that go with it. If we fail to fight, we should not be surprised, nor complain, when the destruction arrives on our doorstep.

o Bad Faith and Benghazi By Jonah Goldberg - In the wake of Benghazi, the country endured an intense debate over how much free speech we could afford because of the savage intolerance of rioters half a world away. Obama and Clinton fueled this debate by incessantly blaming the video -- as if the First Amendment was the problem. Clinton and Obama both swore oaths to support and defend the Constitution. But after failing to support and defend Americans left to die, they blamed the Constitution for their failure. That's what difference it makes.

o You Cannot Legislate Morality But You Can Legislate Against It by Dave Jolly - Laws that forbid prayer in schools or teaching about the Bible, God and Jesus Christ will only result in generations of kids devoid of proper moral instruction.  In the place of biblical moral instruction, our kids are being taught that homosexuality is normal and that it’s okay to have sexual relations before and outside of marriage. Our government has passed laws that label moral biblical teaching as hate language.  If a Christian tries to operate his business according to his faith, he finds that he has violated human and civil rights laws.  In some areas of our nation, they have passed laws that forbid Christians from sharing their faith in public places such as sidewalks and street corners.  Laws have been passed to prevent Christians from protesting outside of some abortion clinics while trying to prevent infanticide. These days, our local, state and federal governments are creating more and more laws that only serv

o Students Fight Back to Save Ten Commandments By Todd Starnes - Hundreds of Christians in a small Oklahoma town have decided to draw a line in the sand and fight back against a national association of atheist and agnostics who want displays of the Ten Commandments removed from local schools. “It’s Christianity under attack within our own country,” said Josh Moore, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Muldrow, Okla.
“The irony can’t be missed by anyone who’s lived in this country or grown up in this country.” The controversy surrounds Ten Commandment plaques are that are posted in a number of classrooms at Muldrow High School. It’s unclear when the plaques were installed. Ron Flanagan, the superintendent of the local school district, told Fox News they had received a complaint about the Ten Commandments from the Freedom From Religion Foundation – an organization that has a long history of targeting displays of the Christian faith in public schools.
The complaint was allegedly filed by an "anonymous" member of the community. “If the facts are as presented to us, and the Ten Commandments are on display throughout Muldrow Public Schools, the displays must be removed immediately,” wrote FFRF attorney Patrick Elliott, in a letter to the school district. The FFRF said the displays are a “flagrant violation of the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. “Any student will view a Ten Commandments display in school as being endorsed by the school,” Elliott wrote. “Muldrow Public Schools promotion of the Judeo-Christian Bible and religion over non-religion impermissibly turns any non-Christian or non-believing student, parent or staff member into an outsider.”

o Deceit in the Boy Scouts By Cathy Ruse - There is deception in the ranks of the Boy Scouts of America. A faction in the national leadership of the BSA wants to get rid of the longstanding membership policy against “open and avowed” homosexuality. But the way it’s going about it is not worthy of the Boy Scouts. The BSA Executive Committee recently released a resolution which will be presented to the National Council for a vote on May 23. To the surprise of many, the resolution addresses only “youth membership,” leaving in place the prohibition on open homosexuality on the part of leaders. It has been widely characterized as a “compromise,” but no Boy Scout should be fooled. The tension this incoherent policy would create would make it practically and legally unsustainable, and those pushing the resolution surely know that.
...There will be a showdown in Grapevine, Texas, on May 23rd. But will it be a fair fight? Sources inside the Boy Scouts are hearing troubling reports about hundreds or even thousands of additional delegates arriving in Grapevine to cast a vote, anonymously, on the membership policy resolution. Their identities have not been revealed. Voting members of the National Council who support the current policy are in discussion with legal counsel and taking steps to preserve their right to a full and fair vote, an unfortunate step to take in a fraternal organization like the Boy Scouts, but obviously a necessary one. The first tenet of Boy Scout law is to be Trustworthy. Even those at the top of the organization should not count themselves above it.

o Germany: Paying for Muslim polygamy - In an amazing expose on German television (English subtitles) the explosion of polygamy in Germany is exposed. Because of the generous German welfare system, even an unemployed Muslim man can afford more than one wife.

o THE COST OF ISLAMIC INCEST By Nicolai Sennels - A tragic phenomenon which is taking a terrible toll on everyone involved. There is a dire phenomenon rising in Europe that is crippling entire societies and yet the continent sleeps, refusing not only to confront the destructive elephant in the room, but also to admit its very existence. The troubling reality being referred to is the widespread practice of Muslim inbreeding and the birth defects and social ills that it spawns. The tragic effect of the Left’s control of the boundaries of debate is that any discussion about vital issues such as these marks an individual as an “Islamophobe” and a “racist." A person who dares to point at the pathology of inbreeding in the Muslim community is accused of whipping up hatred against Muslim people.
...Massive inbreeding among Muslims has been going on since their prophet allowed first-cousin marriages more than 50 generations (1,400 years) ago. For many Muslims, therefore, intermarriage is regarded as being part of their religion. In many Muslim communities, it is a source of social status to marry one’s daughter or son to his or her cousin. Intermarriage also ensures that wealth is kept within the family.
...Today, 70% of all Pakistanis are inbred and in Turkey the amount is between 25-30% (Jyllands-Posten, 27/2 2009 “More stillbirths among immigrants“). A rough estimate reveals that close to half of everybody living in the Arab world is inbred. A large percentage of the parents that are blood related come from families where intermarriage has been a tradition for generations. A BBC investigation in Britain several years ago revealed that at least 55% of the Pakistani community in Britain was married to a first cousin. The Times of India affirmed that “this is thought to be linked to the probability that a British Pakistani family is at least 13 times more likely than the general population to have children with recessive genetic disorders.” The BBC’s research also discovered that while British Pakistanis accounted for just 3.4% of all births in Britain, they accounted for 30% of all British children with recessive disorders and a higher rate of infant mortality.
...Medical evidence shows that one of the negative consequences of inbreeding is a 100% increase in the risk of stillbirths. One study comparing Norwegians and Pakistanis shows the risk that the child dies during labour increases by 50%. The risk of death due to autosomal recessive disorders — e.g., cystic fibrosis and spinal muscular atrophy — is 18 times higher. Risk of death due to malformations is 10 times higher. Mental health is also at risk: the probability of depression is higher in communities where consanguine marriages are also high. The closer the blood relative, the higher the risk of mental and physical retardation and schizophrenic illness. And then there are the findings on intelligence. Research shows that if one’s parents are cousins, intelligence goes down 10-16 IQ points. The risk of having an IQ lower than 70 (criterion for being “retarded”) increases 400% among children from cousin marriages.

o INFOGRAPHIC: Boehner and Small Business Owners Agree, Internet Sales Tax Is Bad for Everyone By Kelsey Harris - Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) told Bloomberg Television Wednesday he would “probably not” support the Marketplace Fairness Act, an Internet sales tax bill that passed through the Senate this week by a 69–27 margin. “Moving this bill where you’ve got 50 different sales tax codes, it’s a mess out there,” Boehner said. “You’re going to make it much more difficult for online retailers to be able to comply.” Small business owners all over the country agree—and they’re speaking out. Matthew Sorrell, co-founder of Infinity College Bookstore, an online used textbook store, is worried about his company’s ability to keep up with the 9,646 tax jurisdictions in the United States.

o Obama Admin Gives Up Forcing Bible Publisher to Obey HHS Mandate by Steven Ertelt - In a huge victory for pro-life advocates taking on the controversial HHS mandate, the Obama administration is giving up its effort to force a Bible publisher to obey it. The mandate has generated massive opposition from pro-life groups because it forces employers, regardless of their religious or moral convictions, to provide insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and contraception under threat of heavy penalties.

o Boxer Beats Pro-Lifers to the Punch By Tony Perkins - Senator Mike Lee's resolution should have been a no-brainer. Who could possibly object to a non-binding measure condemning the mass murder of newborns? Senate Democrats, that's who. Yesterday, they spent the better part of a floor debate explaining why Kermit Gosnell's crimes against humanity were no different than getting a root canal in a dirty dentist's office.
Senator Lee, who had hoped to find some common ground after Gosnell's atrocities, learned first-hand how absolutely militant the President's party can be on abortion. Together with 10 cosponsors (Senators Toomey, Rubio, Cruz, Inhofe, Scott, Blunt, Burr, Vitter, Johanns, and Boozman), Lee's resolution would have simply acknowledged that Congress has a "responsibility" to investigate "abortions... [that] involve... infants who are born alive or are capable of being born alive, and therefore are entitled to equal protection under the law."
Among other things, Senator Lee called for hearings into the gruesome (and growing) trend of infanticide and greater oversight of abortion clinics across the country. Senators Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) vehemently disagreed, even going so far as to introduce a counter-resolution that would take the spotlight off the real issue (murder) and put it on a convenient subplot: sanitation. "Whatever the setting is," Boxer argued, "if it's a reproductive health care clinic, if it's a dentist, if it's any type of doctor, any kind of clinic, where there are willful violations of the law and violations of human dignity and violations of standard of care, we should call them out."
Under Blumenthal's measure, the Senate wouldn't single out the abortion industry but instead condemn all health care violations. And while the Democrats would be all too happy to turn this into a debate about general medical safety, the reality is this: as horrific as the conditions were in Gosnell's clinic, the biggest health violation there was the taking of innocent human life.

o Tyranny? What Tyranny? Liberty Lesson 101 for the Class of 2013 By Mark Alexander - Clearly, Obama's absurd and overtly partisan assertions were aimed at young constituents whom he hopes embody the future of his Socialist Democratic Party. After all, an effective speechmaker knows his audience, and Obama knows that most of these youthful citizens are indoctrinated in government institutions since they were weaned.
Indeed, the socialist protagonist, Karl Marx, wrote, "The education of all children, from the moment that they can get along without a mother's care, shall be in state institutions at state expense." Marx's disciple, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, concurred: "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted."
From the days of Woodrow Wilson to those of Barack Obama, and encompassing all the "progressives" in between, taxpayer-funded academic institutions have been the breeding ground for generations of socialists. For most leftists, the crucial years that cemented their worldview were the ones they spent in our nation's colleges and universities.
Given that some substantial number of the adoring, bright-eyed beneficiaries of Obama's rhetoric have no concept of Essential Liberty and its antithesis, tyranny, let me take apart the selected excerpt of Obama's oration and provide those graduates with an introductory lesson in Liberty.
After all, most of the class of 2013 will have plenty of time to contemplate this lesson, as more than half of college and university graduates entering the "Obamanomic" job market will be either underemployed or unemployed until the primacy of free enterprise is restored

o No surprise – Red states dominate CEO survey of best places to do business -- Chief Executive magazine released its annual survey of CEO opinions about the best states in America to do business — and the red states are on top. States run by Republican governors — Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana, Arizona, Virginia, South Carolina, Nevada and Georgia — claimed the top ten spots this year, unchanged from last year’s list. Meanwhile, Democrat-controlled Massachusetts, Illinois, New York and California ranked at the very bottom of the list. New Jersey, run by Republican Gov. Chris Christie, filled out the bottom five at #46. The rankings are based on the survey responses of over 700 business chief executives who either have bases in that state or operations there. The metrics used included tax and regulatory atmosphere, quality of the workforce and living environment.

o Beware of Liberals Who Come in Evangelicals' Clothing By Ann Coulter - Every few months since at least 2006, The New York Times takes time out from brow-beating Evangelicals to praise them for supporting amnesty for illegal aliens. Most of the "Evangelicals" the Times cites are liberal frauds, far from "unlikely allies" in amnesty, as alleged. It is a specialty of the left to pose as something they're not in order to create the impression of a zeitgeist. The only one I haven't seen quoted yet is the ACLU's minister, Barry Lynn. The Times keeps touting Evangelicals for Amnesty as evidence of a "shift," a "change of heart" and a "secret weapon." Breaking the same news story every two months since 2006 isn't a shift; it's propaganda. Any Evangelical promoting the McCain-Rubio amnesty plan has the moral framework of Planned Parenthood. Like the abortion lobby, they have boundless compassion for the people they can see, but none for those they can't see.

o California Providing Free Condoms to 12 Year Olds by Dave Jolly - How many parents do you know who would want to encourage their teenagers as young 12 years of age, to have sexual relations?  Would you as a parent? The California Family Health Council is doing just that.  Through their California Condom Access Project, they are expanding their program to provide free condoms to kids as young 12 years of age via their website.  Furthermore, kids do not need parental permission and the kids are being told that they don’t have to let their parents know anything about it. The Condom Access Project is a non-profit organization whose website TeenSource.org states that it is all about getting free condoms to youth ages 12-19.  The very top of their home page states: “Sex + Health = You” Then in large red letters it says: “GET FREE CONDOMS”

o Is Nothing Sacred? CA Legislature Says Deterring Minors From Exploring Homosexuality is “Unprofessional Conduct” By JOE CALANDRA JR. - In case you hadn’t heard; it’s been three months since CA’s legislative and executive branches banned parental, medical, and/or religious discourse that dissuades minors from homosexual activity and inquiry.  SB 1172 was amended six times in a four month period before Governor Brown signed the final draft into law on September 30, 2012.  It was set to become effective on January 1, 2013. A successful December 21, 2012 Liberty Counsel appeal to the Ninth Circuit Court for an emergency temporary injunction is all that prevents this law from full implementation.   Part Two to this article, titled Light at the End of the Tunnel, will discuss the Conservative battle to prevent this law from taking full effect. This major restriction of free speech for CA parents, mental health providers – including counselors and clergy, is being buried in a law that the majority of Americans would never think about reading.

o Co-Ed Bathroom Bill Passes California State Assembly  -- /Christian Newswire/ -- Assembly Bill 1266 passed out of the Assembly this morning.  AB 1266 forces all California schools to allow students to participate in sex-segregated school programs, activities, and facilities consistent with his or her gender identity.  "This bill allows children of any gender to participate on any sports team, and enter into locker rooms, showers and bathrooms of their choice based on that student's private sense of their own gender regardless of their biological gender at birth," said Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute.  "By imposing this radical policy on all schools in California, the Legislature seeks to take away local control from the school districts, parents, and communities. What this bill is saying is the rights of a few students supersede the rights of all other students. AB 1266 will bring many unintended consequences for students, school districts and communities," said England. "No student should be forced to share bathrooms or change clothes in front of members of the opposite sex.  AB 1266 mandates San Francisco values on all California schools." AB 1266 will now move to the California Senate.

o UN Report Promotes Child Prostitution and Sexual Slavery -- /Christian Newswire/ -- A report by the United Nations Development's Program's Global Commission on HIV and the Law, funded in part by a grant from George Soros' Open Society Foundation, has a peculiar prescription for combating AIDS.  It calls on governments around the world to legalize prostitution, including child prostitution, and drug use. World Congress of Families Managing Director Larry Jacobs observed: "This is insane.  The 'reasoning,' if it can even be called that, is that by criminalizing prostitution, governments promote the spread of AIDS. The report actually claims that women make a rational choice to sell their bodies, based on economic considerations, and should not be discouraged from doing so.  It also claims that age-of-consent laws violate the right of children to be similarly degraded and abused."

o Will Tyranny Ever Come to America? By Ben Shapiro - The Founders believed ... that government's job was to protect our most basic rights so that we could pursue the individual dreams and ambitions that truly make America great.... But collective action is the necessary precondition for greater rights, says Obama. Therefore, standing up to government means standing for tyranny itself. Said Obama, 'Unfortunately, you've grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity that's at the root of all our problems; some of these same voices also doing their best to gum up the works. They'll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave and creative and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can't be trusted.'
But it is Obama who has said that the people cannot be trusted with self-rule of the most basic sort. We cannot be trusted to handle our own health insurance. We cannot be trusted to vote correctly on issues like same-sex marriage.... We cannot be trusted to educate our children, or to hire our workers, or to own weapons to protect ourselves, or even to feed ourselves. Administrative government ... represents Obama's version of 'self-rule.' Obama's rhetoric here is more than perverse -- it is supremely dangerous. ... A people that does not fear government oppression is not a free people. It is a subject people.
